Felicity you are so right. Tom is pretty snippy and rude, evidenced by his comment back to you. Once he thanked me once for ""honoring"" his 24 hour policy when I had scheduled the appointment an hour before calling back and canceling it . (huh??????) The stylists are all great, fun and very talented - and if not for them this guy would be out of business. I would imagine if he treats his paying customers like he has you and me - what he must be like to the folks who work for him. more

Best Salon in Petaluma! 11/17/2010

I've been coming to this salon for 6 years now and couldn't be happier with their services. When I compare this salon to others I see how they are always one step ahead with their styles and colors. The products they offer are phenomenal and keep my hair in the best shape it has ever been. I also love the esthetician services they offer, had my first all organic facial the other day and I couldn't believe how much my skin improved in just that one session. This salon offers so much more than just hair/skin services. They take care of their clients and make you always feel welcomed and appreciated. 5 stars! more

Regina Bernardini is an amazing master hair stylist/make up artist!!! She does beautiful work...amazing cuts, color, make-up,(including airbrush), bridal hair, Keratin treatment...she really is the best. I would follow her anywhere!! Thank you Regina, for always making me look fabulous! more

Great place to go... 8/11/2010

I had a great experience at JOE HAMER HAIR SALON in Petaluma! Great place, nice people, good feelings! My stylist was Laura Raffo. (She did haircut for my husband and our 4 year old daughter also, looks GREAT!) She cut and colored my hair... I LOVE IT!!!!!! The color came out just beautiful! I get complements everywhere I go! :) It was nice to meet Joe too! ;) I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS FABULOUS SALON! Thank you guys! more

Keepin' in Style 4/17/2010

How was it possible? Once again I visited Joe Hamer Beyond Hair Salon and I got - get this - an even better haircut then last time! My hairstylist was, once again, Laura who greeted me with her thousand-watt smile and proceeded to style my hair with amazing skill. I was laughing non-stop with Laura and at the end I could not believe the fabulous result. I am definitely coming back - and so should you. Five stars for the best salon and Laura! Learn some manners 2/21/2010

The guy who scheduled my appointment over the phone was rude and snippy, which was not a good start to my day. I found out later that he's the CO-OWNER. Perhaps that's why his name is not on the salon door. If I didn't like my stylist so much, I would definitely be seeking another salon. Just Average... 1/3/2010

I went in for a haircut with a master stylist R****a. I brought in a picture of the hair cut and she proceeded to tell me that she could not do the ""cut"" because it was from a photoshoot!! What the heck! It was a hair magazine that has haircuts from other stylists from different salons! \r It was just a long layered cut! Cut, blowdry and throw in some products and your done! I asked her how she got to be one of the top stylists and she said it was because she knew Joe for a very long time. It wasnt because of any special ""training"". I was thinking ""Oh good lord,she probably isnt any better than a girl from supercuts"". Her cut was just average. She charged way too much for what she did. She seemed like a nice enough person,but her cutting skills she needs help with.\r If theres someone there who does amazing cuts and doesnt charge 200.00 for the cut, I would be willing to come back. As a woman you just know when a salon feels right and when your stylist is on the same wave length. It is unusual to see so much positiveness around you. My color is as perfect as possible. April gave me a a new look by cutting my hair and styling my hair in a very different but beautiful way. I am getting already lots of compliments. Pros: love the vibe Cons: ? more

i cried for days 8/3/2009

I went in for a birthday present that my parents got me, it was to get a haircut and some fun colours put in. I went in and everything had seemed like it would be fine but by the time that she spins me around to show me what she'd done, I almost busted out crying in the salon. This woman had given me a Beatles hair cut and the blue dye she put in was completely hidden by my normal hair color, i mean she might as well have not even put anything in! so $200 lost, and 3 weeks of me bawing to death i decided that i wasn’t going to let any more butt holes touch my hair and i would just do it myself.\r \r When I had my hair done there I never got any complements on how my hair looked by friends but now that I’ve taken control its almost daily that someone tells me how nice and healthy my hair looks, and ask where I get it done.\r \r So I’m really smug that I’m a 17 year old who can cut, dye, and style hair better than this person at joe hammer who had given me the second worst hair day of my life.\r Pros: they know how to wash hair ok i guess Cons: everything more

Got Hair? 7/13/2009

I highly recomend getting your hair cut at Joe Hammer, Ive been getting my hair cut there for more than 2 years now. I won't go anywhere else, I'm adicted to getting my hair cut there. I get it cut by a different girl every time and it still turns out looking great. My hair has never felt so great and been this healthy. I always get compliments on my hair and get asked where I get it cut. more

I went to joe hammer as a modle for a young girl named Jennifer Alfaro, she did an amazing job. She did a beautiful up do witch if i was going to get married would have been perfect i was so amazed i could believe it i was so happy with my hair i really love joe hamer there enviorment is fun and amazing!!!.. Great place for waxing! 5/20/2009

This was my first time getting waxed and I decided to go to Joe Hamer and I thought it was going to hurt so bad! When I went in it was the first time I met Laura the esthetician, she was incredibly nice and talked me through it. She made it painless! The hot wax was great! I am really relieved I picked Joe Hamer more

FABULOUS PEOPLE 4/23/2009

After reading the previous comment written about the appointment situation at a restaraunt, I feel really sorry for whoever wrote that. I was present at that event at Graziano's, and we had a wonderful dinner party with very good friends. Especially here in town, a lot of people know Joe Hamer or PRETEND to know Joe Hamer, as you have experienced yourself. If I recall, Joe Hamer himself explained that the person making the fake appointment had nothing to do with the salon or Joe personally. After seeing and hearing everything happen, to read the review written is upsetting because it is obviously a lack of your judgement. Who in the world would make an appointment in a bar or restaraunt by some random guy? I wouldn't. The salon is too professional for that. I just had to respond to that ridiculous ""review"" because I heard everything happen and am a happy client of Joe Hamer's salon and am upset when people lie about them. Actually, the person that portrayed themselves to be with Joe and Tom arrived with them, dined with them, and certainly was affiliated with them. If you were eves-dropping, perhaps you should have listened to the entire story...... Had my girlfriend actually arrived for the ""appointment"" made by this person who was obviously WITH them, would you still think so highly of them? Cons: Offensive and affected more

Buyer Beware 4/5/2009

I was very nervous, trying a new salon, but I was told I was getting a ""senior"" something or other, so that said experience to me. You can see my cons summed up above, I'll just add that this experience could have been better if this stylist had talked A LOT less and concentrated on what she was doing a lot more. I didn't get what I wanted at all, but consider myselft lucky that what I did get was ok. JUST ok. When I was told the total for her ""senior"" services I blanched. It was just an ordinary layered bob! Bottom line impression: very unprofessional attitude from the front desk onward (or should I say backward) which is why my reliable intuition told me not to say anything, just don't go back! gives Good Hair! 3/28/2009

Going to Joe Hamer is more of a therapy session and a party than just a haircut. This place has the best people and they really, really know what they are doing; both with hair and in they way they treat you. First, the style you get is the best around; hands down. Second, you are treated like a friend and a valued customer every time. Third, ....it's just plain fun to go there! I really love Joe Hamer Beyond Hair Salon, ....it's one of the things that makes Petaluma great. Pros: Great price, value, style and experience. more

Gorgeous Hair, great salon 3/25/2009

Kristen at Joe Hamer has been doing my hair for a while now, and i always love what she does. I drive all the way from Santa Clara to have her do my hair, and it is well worth it. Everytime i come to the salon the people are so friendly, and there are so many perks for the customers. I always feel like i am being taken care of and all i have to do is relax. I highly reccomend my stylist, she is an awesome communicator and always has great new ideas. This girl knows whats hot and whats not, and she will be the first to tell you.
