Fun for the Family 11/8/2005

Fernbank has been a fun and educational option for our family for several years. The dinosaur exhibits are always a hit, and I love the variety of displays, so you can always find something interesting! The IMAX theater is clean and comfortable, and has a good schedule so regardless of what time you arrive at the museum, you can generally see a movie fairly shortly, if that's something you'd like to do. A great way to spend an afternoon! more

Nice family place. 10/14/2005

From top to bottom, a great museum experience. My children loved the huge dinosaur skeleton in the lobby...it became a great starting and ending point to our visits. Make time to visit both the play area and the hands-on science experiements. My family could spend hours in each of those places. Both educational and fun. The family memberships certainly were worthwhile, and it allowed us to visit at our leisure. Family membership also includes visits to the planetarium. Ample parking. more

Huge Dinosaur & Great facility! 9/2/2005

This is such a neat place. Whether you want to take a group of children on a field trip or go on a date on a Friday night- there is something for everyone. The lobby holds a huge skeleton of a dinosaur. I have visited this museum several times for Martinis and I-MAX- so cool! Located down by Emory, it is a great date place. Also, I had a prom here in high school- it was awesome... and I wanted to have my wedding here- but it was booked- check this place out! You will be happy you did! more

Fernbank 8/21/2005

Fernbank is a natural history museum located in Atlanta. The museum has a lot of exhibitions that appeal to children. Little boys will love the dinosaur exhibit, complete with a 47-foot long Gigantosaurus. The museum also has hands-on children's discovery rooms, which teach kids about insects, plants, and geography. Fernbank is also home to an IMAX theater. more

Dinosaurs and Imax 8/20/2005

Fernbank is a fun museum, whether you have kids or not. It's exhibits are often interactive and fun, as well as educational. The main attractions here are the Imax cinema, which is an enormous flat screen. The movies change frequently and you don't have to buy entrance to the museum if you just want to see a movie. When you go into the museum, you walk into one of Atlanta's coolest rooms--a giant light-filled atrium which features an enormous dinosaur skeleton that stretches to the ceiling. Suspended from the ceiling are several skeletons of flying dinosaurs. It's an impressive room and makes a great setting for the Friday night Martinis and Imax events. The only drawback to the museum is that the special exhibit room seems a bit small, at lest in comparison to the atrium. more

Fun and Learning 8/18/2005

The Fernbank Museum is a great place for kids of all ages. My son, who is 4, loves the dinosaurs and the Sensing Nature exhibit, which features hands-on stations including a tornado machine. The permanent exhibitions focus on regional natural history. There are also visiting exhibitions, many of which are geared at children. more

Fernbank 8/17/2005

Fernbank is a remarkable museum in the Emory-North Druid Hills area right on Clifton Road. It is an architectural marvel and the artifacts and activities inside are all very fun and very educational. Kids will love this place. They also have an IMAX theater for some fascinating IMAX movies. more

touch of class 8/17/2005

Fernbank Museum is one of the best science museums in the Southeast. On any given weekday, you'll find curious adults and groups of school children touring the parts of the museum, looking at fossils and various exhibits. They also have an IMAX theater that plays two different movies each day. On Friday nights, I believe, they've started doing "Martinis and IMAX", aimed at a more mature audience, where they serve refreshments at the movie, and there is usually a jazz band playing in the museum area afterwards. Nice place for an intellectual date. more

Fun indoor activity for kids 8/9/2005

Atlanta weather being what it is, I'm always looking for something (anything) to do with my son when the weather isn't cooperating. Fernbank is reasonably priced and has plenty for even the youngest toddlers to enjoy. The current Grossology exhibit is just one example of wonderful things for the kids. They can play with snot and do all sorts of disgusting things that they absolutely adore. more

Tons of Stuff To Do 8/7/2005

The last time I went to Fernbank was for a wedding reception that was held in the grand atrium of the museum. It was really interesting to eat and dance while skeletons of dinosaurs were hanging around us. I always like going to the museum because they offer lots of exhibits, an Imax theater, and fun events. more
