We've eaten here several times now, and although it's out of the way for us, we make it a point to stop in whenever we find ourselves remotely close. \r \r The food is wonderfu...

Worst

All reviews seem positive

Moderate -- NOT the original Fellini's 7/20/2009

Cold elements inside an otherwise hot sandwich -- long gone are the days when sandwiches are made to order, but now pre-fabricated and the elements assembled later. French Fries so greasy, they were either cooked in oil not hot, or double fried. Greasy, as in drooling oil to the plate On commenting to the server about it, she did offer alternatives, but when I declined, did not offer to take it off the bill. When my companion requested that, she ""checked with the manager"", and she reported back that they weren't allowed to. Worse, she had the moxie of being placed in the position to tell me that while she couldn't take it off the bill, she would absorb it. And, worse yet, she pulled the classic server fraud of bringing back change for 2 20s as if she had been given a 10 and a 20. The old, the original owner's Fellinis, cooked real food. This place, managed by non-owning staff, just doesn't have the interest, and the place fails. I've been there 3 times in the last 30 days, at different times, different days, and the food experience is no different from the earlier days after the original owner sold out. Wait staff on all but the last experience were without problems. Music, loud and obnoxious, inside, due to the hard surfaces, but they were willing to represent that they turned down the volume. My recommendation? Don't bother. Pros: Nice Place to Sit, outside in the daytime. Cons: Inattentive Cooking more

Consistently Excellent 5/18/2009

We've eaten here several times now, and although it's out of the way for us, we make it a point to stop in whenever we find ourselves remotely close. \r \r The food is wonderful and the service has been consistently excellent. We've never left without having to wrap-up something, because the portions are huge.\r Excellent prices, diverse menu. Pros: Great Italian Food - Unpretentious Atmosphere more

Great food, big portions, little cost 8/13/2002

Fellini's offers some of the city best Italian food at the city's best value. Don't be shy about asking for a doggy bag- staff is used to it. Pros: Inexpensive, Big portions, Drunk waitstaff Cons: Small children, Mot much seating, Drunk waitstaff more

Almost great ... 5/20/2002

The food at Fellini's is flavorful and pleasing -- the tomato appetizer and the goat cheese wrap are positively sensational, while the chicken calzone is pretty good. I've always found the service well-intentioned, if not outright good. But the one thing I still haven't been able to get past is the feel of the place; Fellini's has done a lot to spruce up the physical space and give it character, but it still comes across as somehow chaotic and not entirely as comfortable as most neighborhood eateries, even when it's not crowded. Perhaps it is because it is still a fairly young N.O. restaurant and had such a completely different first life. It's sure to come into its own over time -- and it is definitely worth a visit. more
