Best Breakfast with great service! Love Love Love this place! Staff is the best:)!

Worst

I had high hopes for this place judging by the number of people lined up outside the door on the weekends. I finally had a chance to stop by on a Monday morning when it wasn't too...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/17/2013

Went here ( Silver Lake Village ) Saturday morning 11/16/2013, started getting sick 6 hours later and have had diarrhea for 28 hours now. The bacon was a bit under cooked but I didn't think much about it at the time which I mentioned to my companion... now I know.. They under cook food. Great looking place, fast service but it comes at a price. more

Egg-cellent! Nice-relaxed atmosphere and great service (coffee cup remained full). The Eggs Ben. w/spc avcad. was lovely. Will go back when have the next opportunity. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/12/2012

I ate at this place trying to give this local business some help. The menu was so so. The waitress was very huffy and just plain terrible. I sat at the bar and that seemed to irrate her? I will not reccommend it. Food was so-so, not that great to take this kind of service and attitude. I didnot tip her. more

Generous portions, great vibe 3/18/2012

I had not been to Fat Nats since their expansion, but I was not disappointed. Fast service and big portions. The size of the menu matches the size of the wait staff. Not obese, just, as KD Lang says, ""big-boned gals."" We were given recommendations that matched our experience. The American fries were warm and crispy. The sausage was spicy and the coffee was never allowed to get below half-full. They had a packed house at 9 on a Sunday am and were able to handle it without a problem. \r ""Support a local small business and big waitresses, ""Eat at Nats."" more

A little disappointing 12/19/2011

I had high hopes for this place judging by the number of people lined up outside the door on the weekends. I finally had a chance to stop by on a Monday morning when it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the huevos rancheros carnitas and it was pretty tasty with a nice spiciness to the pork. My wife ate some standard breakfast items, eggs and bacon with home fries. She said it wasn't any better than Perkins. Even though it wasn't busy, the service wasn't too impressive. The prices were higher than I normally pay for breakfast. While we stood at the cash register waiting to pay our bill, the cashier was laughing and joking with some of the staff. When he finally came to ring us up, instead of asking us how everything was, he said ""The food was great, right?"" It seemed more like he was telling us, rather than asking us. Even though I live only 5 minutes from the restaurant, I think I'll save some money, and eat breakfast somewhere else next time. more

Amongst the Pantheon of Twin Cities' Diners 11/8/2011

Family fun, family friendly, family atmosphere. Family in the best sense of the word! This place gets what it means to put what you love into your work. Spend $6 and see if you agree. Yeah, I am a fan. :-) more

It's all about the potatoes 2/7/2011

Nat's is a basic eggs and cakes outfit. No highly refined waitstaff here, just freindly. \r \r I can only comment on the meal I was served. It was the early AM special. Two eggs, 3 links, toast and home fries for $6. A pretty good deal by any measure. The eggs, meat and toast were standard fare, done right, but nothing special. But let's talk potatoes.\r \r Now don't get me wrong, these weren't Mul's potatoes (Boston), something of legend. But right now I would love to consume better home fries in the Cities. I haven't found them (or at least these are top 3). Small reds, check. Evenly cooked, check. Lightly fried so there is a hint of crispiness, but not an overly drying of the interior. Fried with onions, check. And some fresh chives added for additonal flavor. They came out piping hot (a critcal requirement with good home fries) and were heaven. The Feb. morning was bitterly cold out, but the potatoes were hot, an exquisite contrast. more

used to be good 12/19/2010

This was a good place at one time. It's gone downhill since the move. High prices, long waits, and below average everything else. I was a fan. Nat doesn't care anymore. more

No pretense, just fabulous food and service! 12/13/2010

Nat's is my #1 choice for casual, family and power breakfasts. When I want a guest to have an outstanding experience to start their day, whether they are fellow Minneapolitans or they've crossed oceans to visit, I take them to Nat's for a slam-dunk, positively spectacular breakfast.\r \r Everything they serve is tasty, and I'm particularly addicted to the pancakes. Service is genuine and not contrived. Overall, a great community resource! more

The Best - No Competition in Sight! 9/4/2010

I have travelled this whole country and eaten out in the best cities but FAT NAT'S is the best breakfast I have ever had! I refuse to eat omelets anywhere else now b/c FAT NAT'S are absolutely crave-worthy, and squash the competition! The service is friendly and fast. The ambiance is non existent but with food that AWESOME you could eat it in a barn and relish every bite! I recommend this place to everyone I know and take all my family there when they come to town. Love it love it love it!!! more

Nats Eggs is the best! 8/26/2010

I have covered close to 5,000 miles in the last 30 days. Nats Eggs is the best food and greatest service. Nothing more need to be said. more

Great food, fun atmosphere, wish it was in minneapolis! 3/6/2010

I went to Fat Nat's Eggs last wkend after searching for the highest rated breakfast spot on citysearch. \r \r There was a wait when I arrived, but luckily I went by myself and quickly found an open seat at the counter. My server was super nice, and very attentive. The vibe in the restaurant was very fun with the Beatles and other oldies playing loudly, but not to the point of annoyance.\r \r I ordered the avocado and bacon eggs benedict. It was delicious!! The dish has a spicy verde sauce in it (which was noted on the menu as SPICY), i wish I would have said little or no sauce because it was a tad too spicy for me. But then again, I should have known since the menu pointed it out. The potatoes on the side were seasoned and cooked perfectly.\r \r Overall a great experience. I wish there was a location in Minneapolis! I will definitely be back! Pros: food, vibe Cons: location more

Not impressed with Nats... 10/30/2009

I was not impressed with this place at all. As soon as you enter it smells like old greasy fried food. My hubby ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ordered the Elmers breakfast. The eggs were good and the ""American Fries"" (chunks of red potatoes with scallions) were just good - not great. The sausage gravy was very thick and just ok. All in all I don't see the attraction to this place - it is not an extraordinary restaurant at all. Pros: Hot coffee Cons: Old greasy spoon more

Best Breakfasts Ever 10/22/2009

breakfast the way it Should be! 10/2/2009

This is how a breakfast joint is defined. Busy with pretty ladies and great cooks, lots of people with lots of conversation. No uniforms quietly roaming from table to table on carpeted floors. Jeff sets the standard here. He knows breakfast and you will be spoiled. (Great lunches too). Say Hi to Salvador. He will be the one shaking your hand and telling you that you made his day by coming in! No Salvador, you made mine! Pros: Food, Staff, Prices, Food, and Staff Cons: Why would I need a CON? more

Biscuits and Gravy 9/28/2009

Seriously, the best I've had! Whenever I travel, I try other restaurant's biscuits and gravy and my response is usually, ""not Nat's!"" Pros: I measure everything against nat's Cons: it's a popular option...they run out once in awhile:) more
