Good food/BAD service 3/7/2003

Mygroup was seated promptly. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was the din of conversation! Annoyingly loud! The bare concrete floors and walls provide no sound dampening. Our waiter came and stood at one end of the table for 8 and whispered. I never heard anything the waiter said and have no idea if there were any specials. We had spring rolls and calamari as appetizers which were both very good. The iced tea was jasmine flavored and tasted like soap. My rotisserie chicken and garlic mashed potatoes were pretty good, but not all that imaginative - nothing about it set it apart from the same dish from other Houston restaurants. But it was fine. I found everything to be a bit pricey - a $9 hamburger just seems a little ridiculous. The service was pretty poor. Dampen the noise. Not condusive to dinner conversation. Upgrade the service. more

Good Atmosphere, Average Food 12/17/2002

The atmosphere, location and waitstaff are really good here, but the hype over the food did not hold true. The Portobello Burger tasted like rubber, and my wife's dish was no better. This does seem like a great place for appetizers and after work drinks. Pros: Location, Waitstaff, Atmosphere Cons: Food more

GREAT Food and Service! 10/25/2002

Great eclectic menu. Best calamari in town! Great interpretation of Paella, mammoth salads. Everything has great flavors. Friendly waitstaff and management. Pros: Food, Staff, Atmosphere more

Yes Yes Yes!!!!! 9/8/2002

This restaraunt turned out to be a fabulous ""new"" find for my friends and I on a birthday outing.........impeccable service (our waiter, Bryce, was attentive and thoughtful without being overly solicitous) and a flawlessly presented and flavorful menu were just two of the highlights of our wonderful evening...the three fruit cobbler was quite the finish to our dining experience. Farrago is definitely a keeper! more

Why go anywhere else? 8/26/2002

This restaurant is excellent!!! Who could ask for a better atmosphere while dining in Houston. Todd, Chuck and Kellie are professional, down-to-earth people that make dining in Farrago enjoyable and comfortable. They care about their staff and customers and make wonderful dishes. Definently check this one out - you'll never go anywhere else. Pros: price, atmosphere, staff more

Go to Farrago then Seven Lounge 8/20/2002

Farrago is one of those places that you can never have a bad experience. The staff is professional as they are team players, which eliminates the bad or slow service. Chef Todd and Chef Kelly are two amazing chefs who's innovative dishes always put a smile on my face as well as anyone else who dine with us. Chuck Russell is a great owner who always has a kind word to say tableside to his clients. And if you have never been to a Sunday Brunch at Farrago, you're missing out. It's the best in Houston! Pros: Food, Price, Environment more

Simply the best... 8/9/2002

The people at Farrago KNOW how to run a restaurant. The nice thing, is that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it! The most diverse menu in a town where 'dull contemporary' tends to be the norm....Farrago leaves the pack behind with a wonderful ambiance, down to earth pricing and great location. Free parking was a plus! Recommendation: POSOLE! more

Excellent 8/5/2002

Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was prompt and proficient. We told them before hand that we had to be at the Alley by 7:30 and they made sure we were through in plenty of time. The Vietnamese salad was great. The fried oyster appetizer was also delicious. We spent less than $40 and had a great meal. That is almost unbelievable these days. We will definitely be going back. Pros: Great value, Friendly staff, Comfortable seating more

outstanding value 7/25/2002

There are definitely more expensive restaurants in Houston, but few better, in our opinion, and we've been to Americas, La Tour d'Argent, Fogo da Chao.... When we went to Farrago in April 2002, we had the tenderloin and the chicken curry, and both were outstanding. We enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard, and we had a great server who gave her honest opinion about what was best on the menu, and she made some great choices for us! We'd definitely go back for pretty much any occasion. Pros: value, service, varied menu more

GREAT FOOD! 6/4/2002

My co-worker and I go atleast once every couple of weeks for the Vietnamese Salad! The food is wonderful, menu is great, service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is great! A+++ Highly recommend! more

Farrago didn't disappoint 5/24/2002

Had been there for drinks and decided to return for dinner. The service was attentive and prompt, the food outstanding, and the wine list varied enough to allow for a ""quick but nice meal"" to a ""special event celebration meal"". We will be back... again and again. Try the gorgonzola quesadillas. Wow!! Fantasitc value for what you get. Pros: nearby parking, outdoor seating, great atmosphere Cons: noisy afterwork crowd more
