Did not meet our expectation! 9/5/2011

The place looks nice and romantic. However the person who greeted us was unwelcoming and although the restaurant was almost empty he offered us the table that was in the center of the room. Waitress was mechanical. Focaccia served was rubbery, so if you go there with a date you will be embarrassed trying to cut a piece off and of course chewing the thing. Olive oil will not make it soft in a million years. Salads accompany the main course. The dressing is store bought. Also the sauce for the steak was terrible. Seemed like a mushroom soup out of a can. Overall this was a major disappointment with a big price tag. $150.00 for three people. And we only had water!!!!! to drink. If you go only stick to the desserts, otherwise don't bother. There are many restaurants in Glendale nowadays. Less expensive, more welcoming and with much better food. more

The Worst 10/27/2007

I agree with the other bad reviews. My husband and I went here and the food is awful and overpriced. The wait sfaff from the busboys to the servers are indiffrent. We did not hear one ""thank you"" from anyone during our meal. Please don't waste your time here. Cons: overpriced bad food more

awsome food, the best service 9/15/2007

Reading the few bad reviews, Im wondering if these people ate at the same place I did. Recommended by a friend my wife and I decided to check it out. Everything was amazing. Service, food, and just overall feel of a noncorporate restaurant. The burrata caprese, Capilli di angle di frutti di mare, and warm apple tart completed the best meal I have had in years. Pros: food, service, wine, great date place Cons: in glendale more

Worst Service Ever and Overpriced food 7/8/2007

I NEVER write reviews but I'm am so upset I thought I'd write one. The first time I went here, I should have learned not to come back when I found a long hair in my appetizer. Pros: nothing Cons: Glendale, bad service, bad food more

best bar in town 3/19/2007

love this place. great cocktails and great bartenders frankie and ivan. they have plenty of their own signature drinks to choose from and great attitudes on top of it. the place has a nice interior with tons of pictures of glendale from the old school. after you catch a buzz and go on the history tour, throw a couple of bucks in the jukebox and rock out to the killer selection. more

A favorite since it opened... 10/4/2006

When I lived in Glendale until '92, I used to eat here at least once a week. In the more than 10 years since then, I've made it a point to eat visit whenever I'm in the Los Angeles area. Lucky me; I've moved back to LA and now I can again come here often. I love this place! The food is always delicious and the mood is always warm and welcoming. The salad and the flat bread they serve with every meal is addictive. The specials are consistently delicious as are the regular menu items. I'm sorry to see the few really bad reviews that I've read here. In all the years I've eaten at this lovely place, I've never had a bad experience. I've brought many friends here over the years and I've even hosted a couple of birthday dinner parties. I usually order their salmon special or their angel hair pasta with tomato basil sauce but I always taste what my friends order and it's always delicious. more

Wasting your time 9/20/2006

I went there for the first time, and in the middle of the conversation, and waiting for our food that take too long, there was a c.o.c.k.r.o.a.c.h. sneaking in my fiancee's arm. Unbelievable! more

WOW. One of the best italian restaurants outside of Italy. 8/10/2006

This restaurant is one of the hidden gems in all of Los Angeles. The food is unmatched outside of Italy and the service is just absolutely impeccable. The pasta dishes are so great that even Cardinal Mahoney authorized one of his favorite dishes to be named after him, Fettucinne a la Cardinal Mahoney (I think that is what it is called). This pasta dish, fettucinne with lobster sauce, is absolutely delicious and just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Far Niente always has at least 5 to 6 specials that include fresh fish, chicken and other items. On Fridays, their lobster bisk is just fabulous. Pros: Food, Service, Hospitality Cons: Parking is hard to find, but use the Valet service in the back. more

too little, too much, too late 5/1/2006

A group of us went on a Saturday with reservations. It was busy and noisy, but not overly loud. We were seated immediately, and given all nice complimentary water and pizza crisp topped with olive oil. In fact, they kept bringing and bringing and bringing the bread because we thought we'd never see our main course (salads come with most entrees with good dressing). Though there were about 8 or 9 specials none of us ordered one and went with the standard fare. Nearly all of us had a pasta dish and they were mediocre and the pasta slightly beyond done, rather than al dente. The waiter very kindly did bring out an extra dessert to add to the two we ordered, and they all were excellent. The main courses were nothing special enought to go back for, so we likely won't. Pros: beautiful rooms, good wine list, great desserts Cons: boring pasta, pizza cardboard more

Awful service, inedible food. 1/15/2006

Terrible. Just terrible. Had a reservation, and still waited a full hour to be seated and then another 45 minutes before our order was taken -- and after all of that, it was still some of the worst food any of us has had in years -- bland, tasteless fish, inedible pasta, etc. more

delightful 7/6/2004

This restaurant is truly deserving of praise! I have been eating here for over ten years with my family, and am still excited by every visit. Far Niente's specials are always amazing, especially the fresh fish!! My favorite dishes are the halibut, the chicken and artichoke risotto, rigatoni with mushroom tomato cream sauce, and the chicken milanese. Antonio, the owner, is so friendly and always makes me feel at home. I highly recommend this restaurant!! Pros: fresh food, good service more

Thank you Citysearch 4/4/2004

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD BAR 1/18/2003

THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE, THE ACTUAL ATMOSPHERE IS VERY LAYBACK, AND NOT SNOTTY AT ALL. THE SERVICE IS GREAT, AS WELL AS THE HOUSE DRINKS AND APPETIZERS. THE SECOND STORY HAS VIDEO GAMES, DARTS, AND POOL TABLES. OH, AND THE JUKEBOX ROCKS, WITH THE DOORS, ACDC, STONES, AND EIGHTIES ROCK!! Pros: PARKING, INEXPENSIVE, NOT CROWDED more

Far Niente, Don't Miss Out! 8/23/2002

Far Niente is a great restaurant! The pasta and meat selections are so great! Don't forget the the desserts which are just as great! The daily specials are always a good meal as well. It is a restaurant that you should try! Pros: Elegant, Tasty, Fresh Food more
