Great Experience 7/26/2011

I am confused about the bad reviews, and wonder if they were actually meant for another place called ""family services"". I have had no problem with Family Works, and my children have been going there for years. I have a state insurance plan, and have had no problem with billing. I have found the counselors here to be highly educated, (most with master's degrees or higher). They have been compassionate and kind. There has been a high rate of turnover here, but that has not been a management issue, in my experience, it has been various counselors being so good at their particular specialization, that they have moved on from a general counseling position to a new specialized position. The waiting room is lovely, large, and so air conditioned that I sometimes need to go outside because I have gotten too cold. The receptionists there are incredibly friendly, and I have heard them use a first name, basis with as many clients as possible, even carrying on conversation. I highly recommend this practice. They have been wonderful for my family more

Fantastic! 7/20/2011

Really friendly and helpfull place to go! more

HORRIBLE RECEPTIONIST! 6/1/2011

My daughter went in for a first appointment today and was unaware that Family Works therapists were not covered on our state health plan. The horrible receptionist was rude, and treated her terribly. She said ""you don't have insurance"" so loudly that you could hear a pin drop in the waiting room. She announced to my daughter that she could either pay $140.00 now, or she couldn't see the therapist. Again, so loudly that my daughter was so embarassed she left crying. My daughter is going through a terrible time, and didn't need to be treated this way. I lodged a complaint with the director, and spoke to someone named mary. She was very nice, and apologized. But I don't recommend this place at all. Even if Family Works was covered on my plan, I wouldn't send my daughter back there. They need to get rid of this horrible woman asap. She is dreadful. I don't think they even deserve one star. Steer clear of this one. more

Do NOT Recommend 3/24/2011

I do not reccommend. They are all a bunch of ex DSS workers. If you go with the smallest amount of problems and that is why I was thier the next thing I know I am being investigated by DSS because my son who now has been diagnosed with autism had a temper tantrum at 15 yrs of age I could not control I did leave a bruise on him very small. I was already in desprate need of help and all I got was... well not support not the family needs to be together more of well you must be passing on the abuse. I have been to several theopist for my own abuse through the years but when I tried to get my child help I felt locked into a DSS governmental hell so unless you have no real problems stay away. more

Would not recommend 10/2/2009

Not happy. Had to wait in a small, hot waiting room with a bunch of kids screaming all around. Felt like another one of those medicaid factories where they take people in with medicaid and then bill the heck out of them. Spent 7 minutes with a counselor and was told my policy was being billed for a session of ""family therapy"" - WHAT!!!! Cons: Seems like a medicaid factory. more

Not happy 9/18/2009

We were not happy with the high percentage of therapists leaving this practice in such a short time. I was not notified of my therapist leaving until after I showed up for my appointment and was told by the receptionist that my therapist was no longer working at Family Works. I was shocked and upset. This happened to a few of the other people who I talked to while in the waiting room. I don't want to continue to support a counseling center that can't keep good therapists around and seems to have no problem with jerking their clients around. Cons: too many therapists leaving. more

Excellent Care! 1/3/2009

During a very difficult time, the clinicians and staff at Family Works provided my family and me with excellent care. We are very pleased with the warmth, professionalism, and expertise of the therapists. Thank you Family Works! Pros: Professional, warm, understanding, and supportive more
