Good course but... 1/1/2007

I played this course in December 2006. This is one of the only courses in the area that overseed fairways in the winter with rye grass. Tees were in good shape as well as the greens. Club house facilities are very good. I have played this course 10 to 20 times over the last several years and have always enjoyed the layout and the challenge of it. BUT one thing has been consistant over the years. The maintenance crew does NOT know how to maintain sand traps! I have consistantly encountered traps that had almost no sand making playing a normal sand shot almost impossible. The most common result is skulling the shot over the green. After playing, I talked to a man in the Pro Shop would appeared to be the pro or assistant pro about the condition of the sand traps. He was unable to explain why the traps were so short on sand but acknowledged that it had been a problem for a long time. This is OBVIOUSLY the only major shortcoming with this course but NOBODY HAS FIXED THE ONGOING PROBLEM. So if you can be sure to avoid the sand traps, you will enjoy this course, BUT don't get in one. You will experience the bare dirt bunker shot that I have experienced for the LAST TIME. Pros: Greens, layout, challenge Cons: Sand traps are DIRT (sandless) traps more

Sweet Course, Sour Staff 9/14/2002

Falls is a fine young course which, with a little time and quality care, should become a pleasure to play. However, the staff may well be the rudest in the Triangle. I called for directions, was talked down to, and was, essentially, hung up on. Upon arrival, no less than three employees were rude to most of my group -- a group ov over 20 men in a wedding party. It'll be a long time before I pay to be treated that way again. Pros: price, location, not crowded Cons: staff attitude, staff attitude, staff attitude more

A Challenge From All Tees 8/20/2002

Falls Village is a challenge no matter what set of tees you use. Although hilly , the fairways are fairly wide in areas. Don't expect to find many level lies at this course. The green are big with lots of contours and can be lightning fast when they have just been cut. Sand is medium grade in the traps and they are well placed. They allow some walking but you better have a healthy set of legs. Driving range and putting green available. Pros: Challenging course Cons: Can be crowded more
