Great Location close to downtown Sanford. Offers you delicious home-cooked eats for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They also have fabulous ice cream and homemade desserts. Don't pass up the opportunity to try the banana split, brownie bottom pie, milkshake, and Oreo cheesecake! more

I would give the dairy bar a 5 star rating. The waitresses are always friendly, and the food is good. The best fried chicken in town more

We first ate at this restaurant when we were househunting in Sanford. What a find! Cheap prices, great food, and the feel of an old 50s railcar diner. The place is always packed - a testament to how much of a favorite this is with the locals, and off the beaten path so be looking for Big Lots and then you will find it. more

My family loves the dairy bar. My 4 yr old loves the old car decorations and that he gets a scoop of ice cream with his meal. They have great lunch/dinner, milkshakes, and an unbelievable breakfast. The stuffed French toast is incredible. Waitresses are always great and I love that the owner walks around and talks to everyone, he's definitely the heart of the place. more

Hamburgers are wonderful, the salad was fresh with homemade ranch dressing. There are many fresh and homemade items including a very yummy banana pudding. Great prices. Dining room is cute but a little dirty; a sticky floor and taped signs/paper everywhere. Military appreciation 10% discount was nice! more

The Fairview Dairy Bar is a comfortable place serving comfort food. The customers are a very diverse group of Americana, all converging in one place to meet, greet, and eat. It is one of the few places where one witnesses not just families, but a table of strangers, sitting down together before a meal and saying grace. more

Hands down the best burger I have ever had. This Cute dairy bar has adorable ambiance with lots of local flair. I had the UNC Tarheel burger but with blue cheese. It was absolutely the best meat flavor, not greasy but extremely flavorful. It put Johnson's in Siler City to shame and they make a good burger. My husband and I will be going back for a repeat soon. It is worth the drive to this adorable town and friendly folks at Fairview Dairy Bar. more

After more than two years in the Old North State, I'm still discovering new and delicious places. Add Fairview Dairy Bar to the list. Unfortunately, I stuffed myself on guacamole and huevos rancheros earlier in the day and can only speak to the ice cream and service.\r \r Two scoops of ice cream, bunny tracks and chocolate chip cookie dough respectively, quickly turned into four as my date and I gorged ourselves on a veritable dairy feast. Our waitress was friendly and super attentive, the rest of the menu sounded great, and the price was right. more

Once I got there, the sweet service and comfort food made it worth it. Nice to be back. more

Enjoy the food and staff. Almost everytime we go, we start getting calls from our kids, or other family, pretty soon we're having to move to a bigger table. If you're looking for someone in Sanford and can't find them, go have a nice meal at the Fairview Dairy Bar, 98% of the time they will show up. The other 2% are missing Sanford's treasure. more

Sunday Fried Chicken - Thursday Chicken Dumplins': TO DIE FOR - For nearly 50 years I have enjoyed Fairview Dairy Bar's great breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices as well as their delicious ice cream treats ANY time of day. Best Breakfast in Sanford. Great sandwichs or Country Cooking meals for lunch, and evening meals of ""comfort food"" make Fairview Dairy Bar the ""First Choice Restaurant"" to go to for my family. Kudos to Pokey Fulton, his daughter Kathy and son-in-law Paul Freedle and their staff who have continued to provide a ""family"" restaurant for everyone to enjoy in a ""down home"" atmosphere. The hospitality is ""Top Notch""; an enjoyable experience where your coffee cup is filled until you are. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Paul and Kathy and their staff for ALL they do to make dining at the ""Dairy Bar"" a most pleasurable experience. To those who haven't been.....YOU JUST GOTTA' TRY IT !! more

Thanks Paul & Kathy for maintaining such a wonderful place for friends, community and out-of-towners to go, not only to enjoy the delicious food you serve, but a place of fellowship, and wonderful staff. On a scale of 1-10, Fairview Dairy Bar is always the ultimate! You guys are JUST THE BEST! See ya there! more

This neighborohood icon has been around since 1954, and stepping inside is not unlike entering the WayBack Time Machine set for that year. There are pictures of autos of the era, Hollywood stars - especially Marilyn Monroe ( the wife of the owner collects them, and returning customers often bring her additions) - and a general feeling of the '50s.\r There is little remaining of a dairy bar concept - which it was in the beginning, in a small building across the street from the present location - this is a diner that serves 3 meals a day, 6 days a week. The breakfast items are typical, and very good. The sandwiches and plates at lunch and dinner are also all very good. There are daily specials, and fried seafood items on Friday, including all you can eat shrimp.\r The burger here is a large, thick patty with great flavor once well salted, and it comes off the grill with a little outside crust, which I really like. The Chili Dog here is simply outstanding, either all the way or leaving the slaw off. The slaw here is nice, not overly sweet, goes well on the dog. The chili is meaty with a very nice taste; the wiener is a typical southern style one, and the bun is soft. Botton line - the Burger & Chili Dogs are both destination sandwiches, and among the best in this area of the state.\r The folks here are friendly, the owner talkative, the environment is pleasing. The speed out of the kitchen is not particularly quick, in fact it is slow, so we're not talking fast food here. more

Dairy Bar has an atmosphere of an ""Almost home"" air about it. The wait staff is always warm and friendly and has a way of making you feel special. Of course, Paul visiting with each table adds to hominess too. I like the fact that the waitresses help each other out and you very seldom have an empty glass or cup. Oh, also did I mention the food is very good there. If there isn't something on the menu, just ask. They may be able to grant your wish!!!!\r Thanks Guys for all your hard work. more

Family owned icon of great food in the town of Sanford and surrounding area. This place just keeps getting better with home cooked meals, great sandwiches and wonderful salads. My favorites are salmon patties and chicken livers to die for. The staff in great with virtually no turnover and very accommodating to your every need. Prices are very reasonable given the quality and quantity of their portions. more

Good home cooking food. The service is wonderful and we were there during a busy Sunday lunch hour. Can't wait to come back! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/4/2013

Came here with a party of ten. The service was quick, friendly, and accurate. The food was above average quality and well above average quantity. If you're looking for a quick, affordable, country breakfast in an interesting old-timey diner atmosphere you should check this place out.\r more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/22/2013

Good combination of food choices from burgers to homemade dishes. Something for everyone! Reminds me of a 50's diner, w/o the great decor it could be. booths are a bit uncomfortable but food and service definately make up for the unappealing decor. more
