Fab's Corner Cucina

I gave 2 stars based on my experience with what I ordered. I was excited to try a new place and was looking for a nice salad. I got the Golden Beet Salad and there were some large golden beets on there which is great but there was barely any lettuce let alone arugula like the description said. There were a few heirloom baby tomatoes and a good portion of burrata cheese. I asked for balsamic vinaigrette in the dressing option but it showed up with no dressing. I paid $14 for a salad that was substandard, not what I was expecting. I'm disappointed with my order. I'm willing to try them again but something different perhaps? more

Took nearly 3 hours to arrive. Half of the order was missing and the items that did arrive were wrong. It's almost as if they didn't even check the order. more

I must say, that the soup is Amazing!!! I am as sick as a dog right now, and the soup is hitting the spot. From now on, this will be my go to place for soup whenever I am sick. more

The food was tasty, I'll give them that. But, for the money, the portion sizes were really really small. If I'm paying $17 for a steak salad, I expect more than a handful of lettuce. It should be enough to be considered an entree, not an appetizer. And the $14 calzone was about the size of 2 slices of pizza. I guess since I ordered 3 extra toppings there wasn't enough room for the ricotta and mozzarella it was supposed to have. And the fountain soda was flat. For $70 worth of delivery food, there should be leftovers. Very disappointed. more

We have come here for years, 3-5 years prior to the remodel, and ever since it has reopened. I haven't had any bad food here and the service has been consistently good. Try the vodka suace with penne and chicken, very good. I feel this is a great local eatery, although the prices have gone up a bit compared to pre-remodel. But hey, how you gonna pay for that anyway? We LOVE Fab's and dine here a couple of times a week. It is our date night/had a great day at work/had an awful day at work/too tired to cook dinner/just miss the vibe go-to restaurant in our neighborhood. Owners Chef Roger and son Sebastian are wonderful people and always make people feel at home. Sitting up at the bar, Fab's truly feels like an extension of our living room, yet sometimes we are seated in the dining room to create an ambience that feels special and unique when that is what we are seeking. \r \r The food is great, fresh and generously portioned. The new remodel of this landmark restaurant was worth waiting for.This is top of my list for down home Italian cooking at it's best. Every table is a great spot to enjoy some of the best Italian food around. It's a happening restaurant where you can actually hear the person across from you when you have your meal. Prior to the remodel, I had eaten at or had take out from Fabs dozens of times. Possible into the hundreds. My favorite was fussili with broccoli topped with grilled chicken breast. I'd share a chopped salad. Of course the hot sourdough rolls were a HUGE part of the ""my favorite comfort food"" experience.\r \r I picked up their take out menu last week and saw that dish was not on the menu. But I did see they had other dishes with broccoli and hoped I wouldn't have to pull a Jack Nicholson 5 Easy Pieces to get my favorite Fab's dish!\r \r Last night I called to make sure they still made it and they do, so I placed a to go order of 2 fussili broccolis, one with grilled chicken breast, chicken parm, and a chopped salad.\r \r We went to pick it up and as usual there was no parking. But a new obstacle was there... valets who were coming and going and blocking the driveway to the pick-up window. Seems like they are parking cars in the liquor store lot. When the driveway was clear, I pulled in and sat there while my friend jumped out and picked up the food. \r \r I think I got an Italian salute from the gray haired valet. \r \r Anyway, food was as good a before but the sourdough rolls have been replaced by what seems like half baked lumps of pizza dough (can you believe this site won't let you type b?lls). Also no butter and no parmesan tossed in the bag.\r \r I read the excuse here that they can't get find the rolls anymore. Alessio still has them, perhaps Fab's should check with them for a supplier.\r \r I'll continue to get my pasta broccoli to go, it's worth the parking hassle and disappointing rolls. more

My wife & I walked out after I witnessed the Chef & a waiter walk out of the restroom without washing their hands. It was a true Seinfeld moment as I washed my hands and watched the two of them ""finish their business"" and then walk of the room without washing. After waiting for years for Fab's to reopen, my wife and I booked a table to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess tried to seat us at a table at the bar even though the place was practically empty. The owner had assured us that the kitchen would continue to prepare all of our favorites, but, when we asked for one of our favorites, the server told us ""no,"" then brought an inedible version of the dish anyway. Service was so slow that the meal took over two hours to complete.\r \r The old Fab's was a family-friendly place with paper on the tables and an accessible menu. The new incarnation has gone upscale, but, in part because its food has not changed, comes off as pretentious and sort of fake. I really lament the restaurant's change in tone and attitude.\r Pros: Family friendly dishes in an inefficient, not-so-family-friendly Bistro atmosphere Cons: Pretentious redesign does not accommodate former clientele; service stinks more

I use to be a big fan of the old Fabs. I waited all the months it took to reopen. What I loved the best about Fab's the warm bread rolls and the chicken seasame. Guess what, they don't serve that anymore. We had asked the owner why and he indicated the bread was not easy to get so they just ordered a different one. As for the chicken, they took it off the menu. The menu was disappointing. It looks like they have gone to easier things to prepare like salads and sandwhiches. The service was slow, and I can't imagine why they think they needed to put a bar in the resturant, this is not the type of place you hang out at int he evenings. I will not return and think it should have stayed closed. more

I have eaten at Fab's when it was open before and have been there at least a dozen times since it has opened and I love it. The people that work there are passionate about the restaurant and it shows. The new decor is super warm and inviting. If they have the Butternut Squash Hankerchiefs as specials, get them they are fantastic!!!! Thanks for opening back up, we are happy to have you back in the neighborhood!!!! more

My friend and I had been meeting at Fab's for 'girl talk', fabulous chopped salads and calamari...for 12 years prior to the 'remodel' that took what seemed to be FOREVER...which was about 20 months I beleve. Anywho, it finally opened back up and although we knew the 'scene' would be different, we hoped that the food was just as fabulous. Our waitress that we had been seeing for the longest time no longer worked there...no surprise because it was closed so long. The gentleman that seated us was familiar and so, so nice. The light above our table in darkly lit dining area kept flittering on and off, we told the waitress about it and she said ""uh huh"" not ""I am sorry, we are aware of it, and it will be repaired"", ""uh huh"" Yikes! The rolls were delivered to our table, we smiled, and as we had done for years we split one between the two of us. Yuck! These were tasteless, french rolls, possibly not even freshly baked (came from Ralph's yesterday perhaps?). So no go on the rolls...maybe the calamari would be better, it was about the same, ony a smaller portion. Our salads came and they were not as finely chopped, too big, and did not seem to have the same amount of goodies they used to have, mostly lettuce. Our check came and it was about 30% more than it used to be. We knew we would pay more, which we would not have minded, if the food was still good. Thank you gentleman for being so kind to us, but we won't be coming back anytime soon. more
