Worst

If you have been thinking about trying out Tambellini's downtown, don't do it! We spent over $70 on 2 extremely average entrees and 2 drinks. The decor is very dated, and gives y...

Wonderful Community Supporter 2/19/2010

Tambellini's support their local Pennies for Patients campaign. Pennies for Patients proceeds benefit the needy patients at St. Barnabas. For more than 110 years, St. Barnabas has been providing quality, compassionate care to the chronically ill and disabled of all ages – regardless of their ability to pay. Thanks Tambellini's for your support as well as your delicious food!! more

Classic Pittsburgh Italian 2/13/2010

I came to F Tambellini on recommendation of doorman at the Hilton. Great food, informed server, pleasant service and excellent wine, and vodka selection. I had the best lasagna that I've ever eaten! I would return there in a second. My server had suggestions and answered questions. My server even fixed me up with a tiramisu dessert to bring back to my hotel - huge! I love them! I reommend this. Pros: Got to go when in Pittsburgh!!! Cons: Parking is tough on show nites more

Great Supporter 1/25/2010

Tambellini's is a great supporter of community charities. Most recently, Tambellini's donated gift certificates for St. Barnabas Charities' Presents for Patients Campaign. This donation, aided in providing more than 27,000 gifts to nursing home patients this Christmas season.\r \r I've also had the opportunity to dine at Tambellini's and it was outstanding! more

First Time and Last Time 12/9/2009

This was our first time at Tambellini's and will be our last. The hostess was not dressed professionally nor did she have any finess, the food prices were outrageous, the atmosphere mediocre at best (tables were VERY CLOSE to each other as we heard nearby conversations easily), and the food was below par (could not even eat my rice as it was nothing more than a starch ball). Even our waitress was very rude! No class whatsoever and extrememly sarcastic! It was a complete disappointment. I would have rather eaten at Applebees, Olive Garden, or Houlihan's.....in fact, I have had better experiences at McDonalds!! Pros: Close to Benedum Center Cons: Not worth the high price more

Didn't expect this bad 10/23/2009

I was expecting at least a reasonable dinning experience at a reputed restaurant, but was greatly disappointed. The restaurant charged me 20% premium over prices on online menu (I ordered takeout), denied there are prices online. The maitre D was reluctant to show the printed menu, which is 10% more expensive than online, led me to think the over charge was deliberate. The crab cake sandwich is well prepared but from ROTTEN crab. Since I didn't have time to walk 10min one way to return the food, it had to be thrown away. A lunch over charged and wasted. Cons: cheating more

EXCELLENT WINE DINNERS! 7/23/2009

Just looking for something new and exciting to do for an evening we signed up for the F. Tambellini's wine dinner. Wow! Not only was the food & wine pairings spectacular, the company was delightful! Charles & Janet P. go out of their way to make the evening memorable! The BEST of the BEST! Not only do we enjoy dining there when we come into town for shows, but we make a point not to miss each and every one of their wine dinners! Pros: BEST WINE DINNER IN TOWN! more

Pre-Show Dining 6/11/2009

We've dined at Tambellini's prior to shows several times in the past year (2008-2009). With every visit the staff was helpful and courteous. Stephanie has been especially friendly, hospitable, and helpful. She is quite an asset to this establishment. Every one of our guests appreciate the personalities at Tambellini's, who are usually hustling to have their guests at the show on time. The comfortable atmosphere makes the food tastes even better. Pros: location, staff, food Cons: not enough salads more

Best Italian Food in Downtown Pgh 5/21/2009

I brought a new client to F. Tambellini's for lunch. The service was excellent, as usual, and the food, amazing. We both ordered the lasagna and thought it was fantastic! Of course the zucchini is one of a kind. Try the horseradish sauce for dipping!!\r Salads are fresh, house dressing, my favorite.\r The fresh Italian bread completes the meal.\r I have tried the pasta's, veal, chicken and seafood dishes over the years and have NEVER been disappointed. Best kept secret in Pittsburgh!!! \r Needless to say, my Client was very impressed! Pros: Great Food and Great Service Cons: There are not F. Tambellini's in town! more

Fantastic! 5/20/2009

Fantastic! AAA+++ Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. A wonderful evening! The entire family will most certainly go again. Pros: Everything more

Great Community Supporter! 5/14/2009

Tambellini is a great community supporter. I am writing on behalf of the Regional Internship Center of southwestern Pennsylvania. We are a clearinghouse connecting students with regional employers for internship opportunities and we are having a large website unveiling event next month. Tambellini was gracious enough to donate zucchini for this event, which we are expecting 200 people! I have eaten there before and their food and service is excellent and I would 100% recommend this restaurant! It is because of the support of generous organizations like Tambellini that we are able to recruit the most promising young professionals to our region. Thank you for your generosity!!! more

Great food 5/12/2009

Great for a meal before or after a symphony, show or opera. Best zucchini ever! We have had dinner for two and dinner for thirty and it is always delicious! Pros: quick friendly service, great food more

Expensive and Poor Quality Food 4/28/2009

There was not one item on the menu less than $19 and this includes pasta with sauce. Menu is limited. If you order an appetiser for dinner they will charge you an extra $5!\r \r Dinner comes with a wimpy iceberg salad and mediocre rolls.\r \r If this restaurant wasn't in the cultural district it would not be open. Pros: Close to Cultural District Cons: Poor food too expensive more

Been there many times, only one bad experience 4/20/2009

The food is great, the place is nice, location could not be better. I will go there again but only before shows (read below).\r \r The one time that we went there after a show started, in other words, after most people left. There were just us and two other couples, but it was around 8 PM, not even late. And there was the trash guy picking up trash around the restaurant floor and putting it in a garbage can that he kept rolling back and forth along the restaurant with a lot of noise while we were still eating dinner. We decided we would only come before the shows, apprently it's ok to eat dinner with the presence of a big trash can rolling by, if you come a little late.\r \r But I don't want to make a big deal out of one bad experience. All the the other times, it has been great. Just go at the right time, or if you enter and there are only a few tables left, come next time. Pros: Great food Cons: Go at the right time more

Great Place for dinner 4/14/2009

\r We had a wonderful meal. I would highly recommend. It \r is such a great location right in the heart of the culture \r district. Pros: Best Italian more

Great Intalian Resturant 4/7/2009

Food is always fresh and tasty. Great selections something for everyone. Reasonable prices. Great appetizers especially the zucchini. Good meat and fish and pasta selections also. Separate meeting room is very accommodating and good place for dinner meetings. Pros: great tomato sauce more

First stop F. Tambellini, then off to the show! 4/2/2009

F. Tambellini Restaurant is the perfect place to bring your friends and family before spending your night out at the ballet! Amazing zucchini! Great food! Reasonable prices! And a friendly and attentive staff that will make sure you are on time for your show! Besides its delicious food and wonderful atmosphere, F. Tambellini's generosity in the community sets it apart from local Pittsburgh restaurants. Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre thanks F. Tambellini for all its support this year, and for all of the wonderful memories it has helped us create for our ballet patrons! Pros: Food. Price. Location. Service & Generosity! Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Great Community Relations 3/17/2009

I am writing on behalf of Stepping Stones Children's Center. For the past two years, F Tambellini's has donated gift cards to help support our center in raising funds (we are non profit and rely on donations). Because of the generous support we receive from the community, our Chinese Auction was a huge success and we expect it to be even better this year! Thank you so much for your generosity! Pros: Very generous more

If you love Italian food then you'll love Tambellini's 3/17/2009

My wife and I went to Tambellini's Restaurant on 7th Street after a show at the Benedum and had a great dinner. The food was delicious. The service was exceptional and Stephanie, the manager, was very accommodating. The show, dinner and parking were all within one block of one another. What a wonderful way to spend an evening. more
