Best Jazz Music in Town 10/26/2006

F.Scotts gets the best acts every night in their intimate Bar, which is connected to the restaurant. With an in-house sound system and grand piano, you know they take it seriously, even before hearing the great acts. Performers such as Beegie Adair, Liz Johnson, John Birdsong, Bruce Dudley, and SO many more, are regulars. As a bonus, the costumer service remains top-notch, even for the concert-goers are the bar. more

Absolute Best Food, Service, Atmosphere, Wine, and Entertainment experience in town! 10/19/2006

After wks of research, I decided on F. Scotts to host a small business dinner. Absolute 10+. I followed the suggestions below and requested Larry. I have to say, the guy made our evening memorable. His witty dry humor will have u on the floor! \r \r Go w/ the Walnut Pork, Beef Tenderloin, or even the Seafood Pie (we tried a bit of everything) and nothing but the Chef's Specialty Pizza as an appetizer. Matter of fact, I would go back 4 the pizza alone. The quality, freshness, presentation, and seasonings of all of our entrees were mouth watering and pretty much I think the best food ever. Don't even get me started on the delicious salads (perfect ceasar to baby greens and more) and homemade dressings; not enough space to do them justice! \r \r From the wine menu, we selected (w/expert assistance of course:) a delightful Oregon chardonnay aged in Oak barrels (can't recall winery) and a robust Cab which the men preferred more than the gals. Wine lovers get ready! They even use Riedel wine glasses.\r \r We did not save room 4 dessert, esp. after apps, salads, entrees, but they sounded lovely. The fresh bread basket can be a meal in itself. Save room 4 dinner, lol.\r \r Several members of my party stayed afterwards to enjoy the Jazz Trio ""Birdsong"" and totally blew us away. (Hint: consider sending 1 member of your party to claim an early table in the cozy Jazz Bar).\r \r I can not say enough how highly I recommend F.Scotts for all fine dining/entertainment requirements. I hope you enjoy as much as we did and make sure you arrive hungry! Pros: Menu Variety, Jazz Bar, Wine List Cons: Might be difficult to get table in the Jazz Bar on a busy night more

lost in the sauce 10/18/2006

the last two times have been disappointing. all saucey stuff which is hiding any true potential quality. buttery rich sauce to me is kinda cheating because it makes anything taste good, if you like that kind of thing. more

Top notch 8/13/2006

I went to F. Scott's for a birthday celebration...and it was the most wonderful experience. The wait staff, management, and food were outstanding. They had confetti on the table and a candle for the desert. Birdsong Jazz was playing (with guest) and were the most amazing group. Great music and people! If I lived in Nashville, I would be there often. more

Elegant food, service, setting 7/21/2006

Supper for 2: Appetizers: Quail (excellent pairing with apricots & bacon) and Salmon Napoleon (good blend of flavors). Split a goat cheese salad (good, but overpriced). Entrees: Sablefish (great complements - zucchini, pearl tomatoes, fried okra, but the fish was a little dry) and special Ahi Tuna (very rare - great flavor, true sashimi grade. Paired with watermelon! bizarre, but a wonderful flavor combo). Dessert: Peach Galette (when they say homemade, they mean it - pastry was fresh, crisp - no reheating of someone else's desserts. Hidden value: The sommelier is a delightful woman who knows her wines and can recommend wines to match the palette and budget. Try to be seated at a Larry's table - an attentive, knowledgeable waiter, who does not hover over the table. Great place for special occasions - live music doesn't suffocate your ability to have a quiet conversation. Not ""cheap"", but a very fair value for ""fine dining.""\r \r \r Pros: fine dining that includes unique menu items Cons: valet parking - need more than 1 attendant more

Best Restaurant & Jazz bar in Nashville! 5/17/2006

Excellent gourmet and traditional American menu with seasons and marinades to die for. A+ wine menu and congenial master sommelier (?Wendy) is thriled to assist in a relaxed manner. If u request the personable Larry as your server, he will won't steer u wrong. Lambchops, and grouper r my favs. Also Ceasar salad and creme brulee dessert yummy. The gourmet pizza appetizer it is a must! Crisp buttery crust w/ gourmet sauces, cheeses, and fresh toppings. Special requests r no problem for the awesome chef. Nightly specials assure repeat customers. There r no bad seats d/t layout of rooms separated by artistic glass so you don't feel boxed in and can still have private chats. The non-starchy, friendly manner of this 5 star restaurant is refreshing and highly recommendedl Enjoy! Pros: Wine menu, Mouth watering food, Ambiance more

Fantastic Upscale Experience 4/24/2006

F. Scott's is quite a find in Nashville -it's great to relax in the lounge area while listening to the live nightly jazz (Beegie Adair is a must-see!) and enjoying drinks and appetizers (although they do serve the full menu in the lounge). If you go in for a full meal in the restaurant area, you're in for a great experience. The pricey bill will be well worth it. The appetizers and entrees have always been great. The extensive, original wine list is a big draw as well, and the sommelier/owner is unbelievably helpful and knowledgable. If you don't mind dropping some serious cash on a meal, this is a great place to go -start of with drinks in the jazz lounge, move to the restaurant, enjoy a leisurely meal and make it a worthwhile couple of hours. Pros: Wine List, Live Jazz, Great Sommelier Cons: Bar gets crowded, Very Expensive more

Best Fine Dining In Nashville 11/11/2005

The food was amazing! My husband and I went on a Friday night and had a great time! They have live jazz and a nice atmosphere. This is probably the best meal we have had since we moved to Nashville! The food is excellent! Pros: Wonderful Food, Cute Atmosphere, Great Date Place Cons: Expensive more

Perfect Anniversary 7/31/2005

This was our first time at F. Scotts and it was for our anniversary. We were very pleased with the service from the time entering the door till our departure. The cocktails were great and arrived timely. Appetizer was outstanding so much that my husband who does not like avocado was amazed he was eating a dish made with it. Every course was amazing and presented very well. The staff were all attentive and professional but not in a starchy way as we have experienced in other establishments. I would highly recommend the restaurant for not only special occasions but also for casual dinners as well. The live jazz music was an added bonus. We will be returning most definitely. more

What Happened? 12/4/2004

USe to really enjoy this place - then I had a kid and did not get out for a while. Now the food was insipid, the sauces poorly matched to the dish, and the service well, we will not go there. But as they were half empty on a Friday night I guess most others have figured out that F.Scotts has gone down the tubes. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Pros: Valet Parking Cons: , Boring sauces, Poor execution more

Good but inconsistent 5/5/2004

I have always found the ambience and service at F. Scott's to be good. And the after 9pm dining specials is one of the best kept secrets around. And 2 out of 3 times I have found the food to be superb, but this is what makes the inconsistency all the more disappointing. I raved to a friend about this restaurant, and we finally went recently. Unfortunately we were both very disappointed with our entrees, although the dessert was excellent. Pros: service, atmosphere, sometimes food more

can you say, snooty? 4/7/2004

I expect a snooty waiter at really nice dressy restaurants with really great food, but this is not it. My three guests and I were seated and immediately made to feel like we were being babysat. I'm 29 years old, and know how to order meals at places other than Hardee's. I also don't expect any funny looks or comments because I want, oh my you're not going to believe this, ""TAP WATER""!!! That's right, what a backwoods hick I must be. Anyway it got worse from there and if they want to be picky and upscale, they should correct the several glaring grammatical errors on the dessert menu. The food was actually OK, but we ate at the half price ""9 dine"" time and I wouldn't recommend paying their full price otherwise. Pros: decent food more

Disappointed 9/13/2003

I was expecting a lot after hearing all the positive comments, but we were very disappointed. The food seem to lack distinct taste. Everything blended. The only taste was from sauces that were covering the food, at least the sauces added a little flavor. The chocolate beignets were terrible. They were drowned in oil, and with a fork you could see it ooze out. The decor, old. We were sat in the back and there was loud banging throughout the whole dinner. Cons: noise, lack of taste more

World Class In Nashville 1/20/2003

Unfortunately, there are only a handful of exceptional restaurants in Nashville (maybe if we had an income tax we could solve that problem too - but never give a lobbyist an even break). Even without Margot as their chef, F. Scott's continues to be one of the best restaurants in this city. Excellent, well informed service with masterful creations is a recipe that too many big time chains (Palm, Morton's, Ruth Chris, etc.) have forgotten. For those that enjoy tight quarters and beautiful people, their Jazz Bar is hip & crowded. But we go for the food & service in the restaurant Pros: excellent food, excellent service, reasonably priced Cons: Need larger wine list more

Does it get any better? 1/13/2003

Truly inspired gourmet cuisine and an always professional staff. The only other place in Nashville whose food and service has impressed me as being so consistently excellent is The Palm (but my history with F. Scott's goes back MUCH further). more

JAZZ LOVERS! 12/26/2002

Attentive servers cater to your every whim while serving up their killer California cuisine! The wine list is impeccible and the desserts are to die for!PLUS...you are afforded the charm of dining within earshot of some of the most fab jazz artists around as they perform in the lounge. After a lovely dinner experience, I always head that way to enjoy the music up close. I am a native Nashvillian and FScotts is always my choice when it comes to a romantic evening! Pros: valet, great food, fabulous music more

A novel experience! 10/22/2002

Fantstic food matched by exquisite service. My colleague and I were at a meeting in Nasvhille and stayed near F. Scott's. We were sorry we ate there the first night as service and food were so great that nothing compared for the following two nights! Pros: great food, parking, service Cons: expensive more

Always a great experience 10/13/2002

F. Scott's is amazing. Everything for the hostess to Chef Jason's amazing meals is amoung the best. One of the best things about this restaurant is the ever changing menu. It keeps you on your toe's, but don't worry there is never a bad appitizer, salad, or entree'. The wait staff is always friendly and willing to talk you through everything from the amazing wine list to the dessert menu. I have dined all over the world and I would say that this is one of the best in the usa. Pros: Live jazz everynight, Great wait staff Cons: Small Parking Area more

An Incredible Dining Experience 9/15/2002

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The staff greeting us at the door were very friendly and prompt in seating us. Every bite of food we had was delicous. From the Vietnamese pancake appeteizer to the chocolate bomb -- it was all perfectly prepared and presented. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. He also recommended a great wine to go with our meal. F. Scott's is a little pricey, so it is definitely a special occasion type of place. Kudos to F. Scott's for making online reservations available. more

A Jazzy Jazz Place 8/23/2002

Great ambience, good food and some of the best music in Nashville. The variety of the menu is quite impressive and the daily specials are usually unique and quite tasty. One of the best places to go in Nashville for a good and romantic dinner for two or to hang out with 40 people in the bar listening to great jazz performers and doing a little toe tapping. Pros: Great Food, Best bartenders, Valet parking Cons: Crowded some nites, expensive more
