Expressway Animal Hospital

I absolutely love Expressway Animal Hospital. The ladies that are in the front office have ALWAYS been kind to me. I have had experiences with both doctors and I am impressed with both of them. Dr. Louviere and Dr. Whitehurst are personable with my pets and with me. I recently had to put our beloved black cat to sleep and the vet and the others involved made the process much easier. I was not rushed and everything was explained to me. This has become our forever veterinary hospital. I love this place! ;). Thanks for everything! more

Stay far far away from the groomers at this location. They messed my chi so awful it doesn't even look like my dog anymore. \r \r I also want to add; my puppy is a chi mix (long hair). After researching I found out long hair chi aren't suppose to get shaved, but it was my fault I asked for a short shaved. Now what I'm wondering is if the groomers know what they're doing shouldn't they know not to shave certain type of dogs? And if so shouldn't they let the owners know that it's wrong so we, the clients, know what not to request and get another option such as a trim? Call me crazy, but I'm sure they should learn that in grooming school shouldn't they? Anyway, lets still put the blame on me for not researching this first and that I asked for it. Still they did an awful job buzzing my dog. All the fur was uneven and since my dog has white fur you can't really tell in photos, but definitely noticeable in person. I rather pay $8 extra at petsmart then to bring him here ever again. more

What are these people talking about? I have been taking my pets to this animal hospital for years and have always been treated nicely and my pets have always been well cared for. Because Dr. Louviere has become so popular and busy, unfortunately he can't come out from behind the scenes as much as he used to but I know that my pets are being well taken care of. I will continue to use Dr. Louviere as long as I have pets and all of my neighbors feel the same way! more

will not bring my loving pet back here ever again. vet not personal with clients. .then my pet was so sedated for grooming. she couldnt walk out the door. no wonder the girl handed her to me. when i put my pet down to maybe do her bussiness outside she coldn stand up. thats noway to give a person their loving pet they think of their child you can say. you seenus for the lasttime, yall rude. ever 1 of you need manners!! including Vet Luv. on dealing with clients owners!! we do pay your salary. not anylonger here. we will go find someone with compassion fo the clients owners too!!!. bye forever !!!!! no friend lost here seeing my poor pet this way ..shame on yall for letting her out like that. she wasn't normal till morning. ,makes me wonder what happed behind closed doors !!! more

I've had my fair share of waiting and dealing with vets offices, but this place takes the cake. Not only are all the receptionists rude, but you'll be lucky if you ever get to see an actual doctor. I could stand up at the counter for five minutes and not get a single greeting, then you get to wait forever (since they don't take appointments) only to hand your pet off to some stranger and have no clue what they're actually doing to your animal. Their blatant poor treatment towards me makes me question what goes on with my pet behind closed doors. How hard is it for the doctor to take a minute to speak with the owner about their pet? Obviously we bring our animals there because we care for their well being. At least pretend like you give a crap about their welfare instead of making me feel like you want to push me out the door and take my money. more

Worst Doctor's visit experience ever, I brought my Lovebird in for her first vet visit.I was very excited this excitement soon turned into a nightmare. Some assistant took the bird in the back without me!! Then 3 minutes later brought the bird in her cage back to me and says she is great and looks good. No examination, nothing I never even met the Doctor!!!!!! (Outraged) I did not have a chance to speak with him about my bird and her health. Then they charged me for a wing clipping she did not recieve. But by this point I was so outraged I just wanted to get out of there. I would not bring any animal to a Doctors office with this kind of attention to detail or service level. Dr. Louviere thanks for nothing, Sorry I never got the chance to meet you, all I wanted was 5 minutes of your time which I was willing to pay for and a few seconds to chat about my lovebirds health. \r If i could rate this visit lower than awful I would!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r Take my advice stay away from this place!!!!!!\r more

I continue to use Dr. Louviere as my vet of choice even after moving to Metairie over 12 years ago and have known him since he opened his clinic probably 18 years ago. He is very honest and frank with his patients. His care is top notch. I would trust him to care for any of my pets.\r \r I board my animals there every time I go out of town and have left them for 2 weeks plus and they are well cared for each time. The ladies in the front have been there for years and are all very competent in thier care and concern.\r \r Dr. Louviere is one of the best vets I have ever known and know that he will do his best to care for the pets in his care. more

I brought my pet in on a Friday and over the weekend took a turn for the worse. I called the ""animal hospital"" over the weekend and left a message. I wasn't called back until Monday morning. Are you an animal hospital or a vet with 'animal hospital' in your name? Maybe a 24 hour animal hospital costs more but I'd pay anything for my pet to be well and a return call on Monday morning next time may be too late. \r \r And if your pet is bleeding, maybe that pet should be sent to the front of the line instead of having to wait after any other pet that is there just for their annual checkup... \r \r Like I said before and many would agree, I'd pay anything to ensure my pet's good health but ignorance is why I'll never go back here. On top of all that, my pet was NOT properly diagnosed... \r \r Thanks for the inexpensive pet care. Inexpensive or not, it was a waste of money and time and grief. The best vet ever! I can tell you that I have had my share of being mis led and over charged by other vets. He has treated all 7 of my pets. He is very honest and he tells you exactly what is wrong and what options you have. He will tell you exactly what the cost will be and you will be pleased! No surprises! more

I no longer go to this vet. the young girls that work there are rude and mean. You no longer go into the back with your pet. They bring them into the back and they do or don't do whatever they're supposed to do for your pet. They no longer let you come into the rooms with you anymore. My cat had to get an operation and stayed there for 10 days and I don't think they took great enough care of him. After I got him home, he puked up what looked like a maggot. My close friend brought two of her puppies there to have their tails docked and explained the situation that was having with the liter. They took them in back and CLAIMED they was fine. They said they looked them over and they was ok. A few days later, the puppies she brought into the vet, had died as well. Don't bring ANY of your pets to this vet. It's not like it used to be. The last time i was there NO VET spoke to me. The young girl came out and talked to me and was quite rude to me. more

The vet and staff here are wonderful. They take great care of my pets and have most reasonable prices. I have many pets and would not think of going anywhere else. Have been with them for 20 years. They do not make appointments it is walk in. But they move quickly. Absolutely best in the area in this customer's opinion. more

This place was really great because it was so reasonable and the doctor did a great job. It is not the fanciest place but they take very good care of your animals and for a great price. My cat had a tumor removed and stayed there for 6 days and we were only charged 137 dollars for the whole thing. We had taken him to another animal hospital and he had a similar procedure done and the bill came out to 800 dollars. I high recommend this place if you love your animal but just dont have the money to spend on the fanciest of places. more
