My children love Excel, I love all the property and playgrounds. The teachers are the best and really care about the kids. I always recommend.

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/5/2014

I totally agree with the parent below who says the teacher to student ratio is lacking and they are constantly shuffling babies around b/c of being short-staffed. I'd like to add that this is the most UN-NURTURING environment for a child starting day care. The workers are unprofessional, uncaring, and while my grandson was in attendance for a month before we pulled him because of this facility's detrimental effect on his psyche, I don't think I ever saw the same teacher twice in his classroom ... in fact, when my daughter picked him up on two occasions, it was a parent of another baby in his 1-2 year old class who was BABYSITTING until he was picked up, and her husband was present, keeping her company .... had EXCEL done a background check on either of these ""substitute babysitters"" to ensure my grandson was not in harm's way? Not sure, but one thing I am sure of: NOT ONE person at EXCEL in the month he was there showed my beloved grandson ONE OUNCE OF AFFECTION OR NURTURING. Shame on the director and her staff. Shame, shame, shame. more

Examine Excel closely before enrolling your children! 2/3/2011

I thoroughly agree with the previous comments! In fact, for those of you that are even considering enrolling your child(ren) in this school, I would strongly advise you to reconsider! The child to teacher ratio is inconsistent with state guidelines. They are constantly short staffed moving children from room to room or substituting one teacher for another. As a parent, I think it is absolutely absurd to have only one teacher per classroom regardless of its age group or size. Personally, that simply does not sit well with me, especially when you?re dealing with children. I don?t like the idea of my children being looked upon as just another number instead of a person. There is a definite problem when you have teachers that can?t give their children the compassionate care they deserve due to the fact that this family owned business is too cheap to provide proper staffing. All they care about is making the almighty dollar! This became quite evident to my husband and I when we approached the director with our complaints on the lack of care and safety for our children. No changes were made, in fact, our complaints were completely ignored. My children were constantly sick due to the lack of cleanliness and poor air circulation because management refused to keep the system ON and running at a constant temperature. When I would drop my children off at their respective buildings I noticed a very distinct odor (a dirty feet/musty/stale air/fecal matter combination type of smell). Their bathrooms were utterly repulsive, clearly they were not maintained as they should have been. In closing, I believe it's time the state steps in !!! more

Fantastic School 11/22/2009

This is a wonderful school. I can't even believe some of these reviews. The owner is fantasctic. The teachers are fantastic. The school is big but the rooms are regular size. All of the ages are seperated. They even have buildings just for infants. They have a ""lodge"" style building for after care and summer camp. And the main building for 2-5 They never ask for any extra supplies or money beside tuition. They just had a huge Thanksgiving Feast and fed ll the kids in families, the owner cooks all the food herself. She takes a lot of pride in the school( shes lives on the property). My kids in VPK and already went on field trips to the Pumkin patch and a tour of Publix.(no charge)They even had a Halloween parade. My kids already reading words and is 4. They have wonderful academics and lots of fun. They are always inviting parents to join in with the kids ...Its just an amazing school! So don't take any of these other angry parents words to heart before visiting Excel for yourself. Pros: Great owner fantastic teachers more

Say what you know, Don't Generalize!!! 7/31/2009

Look everyone with bad reviews, please do not generalize that ALL the teachers are bad, you have not met all the teachers. Many teachers there do care and are doing to best they can with the hand they are dealt. By the way, the owner and director are two different people so if you dont like something say what you know and do not make assumptions about the rest of the staff. more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PRECIOUS CHILDREN TO THIS DAYCARE 8/26/2008

My child was in the three year old class in the main building of this huge school. The teacher cannot keep track of their kids! i found my son in the bathroom by himself while everyone else was outside! My son was crying hysterically because they left him behind by himself! i ask the teacher why did she leave him AND HER REACTION WAS ""OH I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HE WAS!"" OMG! I PULLED HIM OUT BECAUSE MY CHILD DESERVES BETTER CARE THAN THAT ! I WOULD NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CHILD ! I HAVE READ ALL THESE COMMENTS AND NOW I KNOW I DID THE RIGHT THING BY TAKING HIM OUT OF EXCEL DAYCARE! more

Big school- very small children 8/25/2008

im going back to work and im looking for a school for my 1 yr. old to start daycare. I did visit excel daycare and from my observation i have to agree with the other reviewers that this daycare is not very good. The director looked over worked and anxious & the teachers had too many children in their class! i was way overwhelmed with how big this daycare is and it scared me to think my child would just be a number to them and not a person! NOTHING IS PERSONABLE ABOUT THIS PLACE! My friend took his child out yesterday because he could never GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER ABOUT HOW HIS CHILD DID! HE SAID THERE WAS SO MANY TEACHERS IN & OUT DURING THE DAY SO THAT MEANT IT WAS HARD TO TALK TO SOMEONE THAT ACTUALLY CARED FOR YOUR CHILD! i found a nice personable small daycare down from my house and i am very happy with it! more

below average daycare 8/25/2008

I sent my 3 year old son to excel learning center! he came home everyday with an injury! The teacher never knew what happen,my son said he did it on the playground and the teacher ignored him. The director would not listen to me when i approached her about the lack of care & safety for the children! She acted like everything was fine. I talked to another parent who pulled their child out because the infant center stunk very badly! My child was in the main building until i pulled him out because the teacher and director would not listen to me about my complaint! I have talked to several parents who are going to pull their children out of Excel Learning Center because of their carelessness of the children! This place is just too big and the owners only care about making money & not about are children! more

Response to jackiebrahm comment. 8/23/2008

My daughter also went to Excel and I had pulled her out for almost the same reasons. What class was your child in? more

careful who you trust your kids care to 8/11/2008

my friend recommended for me NOT to enroll my child to this daycare.her reason was that a teacher was caught taping a child's ankles to the chair because the child would not sit down. Now my friend said this incident happen a couple of years ago,but i thought how terrible the parents must of felt. you think a daycare would screen people better for a job with caring for your kids !!! well i went last week anyway to this school to check it out for my 2 year old son and i had a vibe from the teacher that her class was overwhelming! this is a big facility with too many children !!! a kid could get easily misplaced at this center.this school has 3 buildings and the kids are all over the place. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU LOOK FOR A DAYCARE FOR YOUR YOUNG CHILD. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AND WE ARE NOT THERE TO SEE IT. more

big school treats children like a number !!!! 8/11/2008

i am very disappointed by this daycare! my 4 year old son was in the pre-k program during the day! his reacher was very negative toward my child. she was very inpatient with him. my son is very intelligent and was bored with her !!! she continually gave me bad reports. i asked her if she could be positive and she had nothing to say !!! the teachers at this daycare are not compassionate towards a child's needs. there are too many kids in the classes and children are felt left out !!! Cons: classes are too big and teacher have no compassion. more

WORST DAYCARE EVER !!! 8/11/2008

I PULLED MY TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FROM EXCEL LEARNING CENTER! THE HALLWAY AND CLASSROOM OF THE INFANT CENTER ALWAYS SMELLED LIKE URINE AND FECES. MY DAUGHTERS DIAPER WAS ALWAYS SOAKING WET WHEN I PICKED HER UP ! I TRIED TO TALK TO THE DIRECTOR BUT SHE GAVE ME AN ATTITUDE! THE CLASSROOMS ARE TOO BIG AND CHILDREN ARE LEFT UNATTENDED WHILE PLAYING ON THE PLAYGROUND! I SAW A TEACHER ON HER CELLPHONE ON THE PLAYGROUND AND THAT IS WHY I PULLED MY DAUGHTER FROM THIS DAYCARE! MY DAUGHTER GOES TO OAKCREST AND I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH IT !!!! Cons: WAY TOO BIG TO TAKE PERSONAL CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN! VERY NEGLECTFUL TO CHILDRENS NEEDS. more

Very caring for children and quite affordable! 8/8/2008

I have never had a bad experience at Excel for the past 9 years I have been using them. All four of my children attended Excel throughout elementary school and they all absolutely loved it. The children are set aside time to do their homework and also have plenty of time to have fun and play. They are given snacks and drinks. The children enjoy themselves while not being out of control. Many of my friends have their children in Excel and I have never heard a negative comment whatsoever. They are a priveledge to work with and I would highly reccomend them to anyone! Pros: Kids do their homework, staff is wonderful, very helpful Cons: classes are a bit large more

MEAN TEACHERS YELLING TOO MUCH !!!! 7/26/2008

I HAD TO PULL MY SON OUT OF EXCEL LEARNING CENTER BECAUSE THE DIRECTOR KEPT YELLING AT HIM FOR NOT NAPPING. THE TEACHER WOULD SCOLD HIM FOR NOT BEING POTTY TRAINED IN THE 3 YR.OLD CLASSROOM. MY BOY IS SWEET AND I WAS TIRED OF HEARING NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT HIM. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN. THE DIRECTOR ONLY CARES ABOUT THE MONEY. THIS SCHOOL IS TOO BIG AND THERE ARE TOO MANY CHILDREN AT THIS FACILITY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE! more
