Such a good bakery. Parking can be hard but it's worth it. The mini cakes and mocha balls are wonderful. Different things daily as well as the staples. more

Great breads, The egg salad was really good. Service usually is really great except when it is busy.. The prices are fair and we love coming in for a late breakfast. more

Thanks Euro Pane for supporting the Human Society 1/25/2012

I really like the sandwiches and the bread which is used. But another strong reason for supporting a local business like Euro Pane is their support in helping homeless pets who reside at the Pasadena Humane Society. I believe it takes a community to make a difference. Thanks Euro Pane! The more you support PHS the more I love you. more

Macaroony 2/25/2011

***Macaroons Macaroons Macaroons*** Every flavor is great; coffee is my least favorite but still tasty! This fine, smallish, establishment is filled with fresh baked bread with high-end but still cafeteria-type seating. Windows on two sides brings in plenty of light and cheer from the outdoors. I found both lunch and breakfast here to be filling but otherwise unmentionable, and though it is stylishly arranged, the meals were altogether unappetizing. The service, though courteous, was slow and they gave my sandwich to someone else and had to remake it. HOWEVER!! Are you looking for french macaroons? This is the place to be for the most scrumptious and colorful macaroons around! So, don't go there for the egg salad sandwich unless you want 4 or 5 eggs barely sliced on a piece of bread (served open face) but by all means run there for their incredible, sweet, macaroons. ~CJButtercup~ At your service. ;) more

Poor Service 5/18/2010

The food is really good and the macarones are amazing but the price is high and the service is poor. They forgot our food and were not very friendly in the process. For paying that much and hearing such good reviews, they did not impress us with their service. Maybe they should also try writing down our orders at the counter instead of making them wrong and forgetting. Pros: good food Cons: $$$ and not very good service more

A real treat 3/7/2010

At the original location, the decor is not trendy - the focus here is on one thing: the baked goods. Yes, there are other items on the menu, such as the famous egg salad, but make no mistake - people may come for lunch, but the real draw is the dessert. When I moved to Pasadena, I came to Europane based on the glowing reviews and word of mouth, only to be disappointed. I even gave them another shot, only to have the same mediocre experience. It was not until I was having guests over and I picked up a wide selection of pastries that I fully appreciated that Europane is capable of serving up tiny pieces of sublime heaven. My current favorite is the ""french brownie"" which looks a little like a chocolate muffin. And I agree with other reviewers that the lemon bars are something special. If you've jumped on the macaroon bandwagon, I don't think you will find any better than here. If you crave a special treat - something that tastes wonderfully fresh out of the oven, this is probably your best bet in the area. Frequently, I am surprised and delighted at the excellence of some of the items there. On other days, there have been small disappointments. Time of day is critical to get the most out of your experience here. After trying Europane many times, I finally realize why some of the treats have not quite hit the spot for me - I wasn't there early enough in the day. Other reviewers have raved about the croissants - I tried them several times (I'm a croissant snob) and never found them to be special. The other day, I went to Europane at 8am - the earliest I have ever gone - and had a croissant. Amazing!! I finally understand what other people have been talking about. It was filled with buttery, flaky goodness. I personally have grown to love this place, and am greatly looking forward to the opening of their new, more fashionable location across from Paseo Colorado in two months, and hope they are a big hit so I can more easily enjoy their treats. Europane is capable of shear taste-bud-popping brilliance - if they don't get it just right for you your fist time there, I would urge you to give them another try. It took several visits for me to begin to really appreciate how special some of the baked items are here. The reward has been both sweet and delicious. Pros: best pastry shop in town Cons: a bit inconsistent more

disappointed 5/30/2009

I was looking for some good pastries, and figured I'll go here since there were so many wonderful things being said...but I didn't read all the reviews and now that I have been there, came back, and read the reviews (too late!), this is what I have to say.\r \r The first thing that I usually do when I go to a new bakery/pastry shop is to try their croissants (and chocolate croissants), as I have had the real stuff in France, and other places that claim to be pretty authentic french bakery...So that's what I got: a croissant, a chocolate croissant and an apple tarte (apple slice is what they called it...). Anyway, three little items, and I expected to pay, but not that much!! And I wouldn't mind paying for them again. Unfortunately, they weren't what I expected from a pricey bakery. \r I had the croissant first, and it was not warm (it was only 7:30 am), crispy, or flaky as it should be. It was not buttery or sweet (not even the slightest), and for sure didn't melt in my mouth, and I'm no food critic. I just know when it's good. Or not, in this case. I was so disappointed...\r Then a few hours later, my carb cravings returned, and I figured, I might as well try the chocolate croissant. Maybe it would be better than the plain one (and by the way, Costco croissants are better). This one was no winner either. The chocolate was hard and the croissant was thick, not light, fluffy and flaky...\r Then I tried the apple tarte and that was a little better...but for what I paid and the simplest thing couldn't even win me over, I wouldn't return. Pros: nearby Cons: too pricey for what it was more

Lemon bars...lemon bars...lemon bars 11/20/2007

Did I mention their lemon bars? I don't normally eat a lot of sweet treats...and wasn't really impressed with their sandwiches or croissants...but I will go for their lemon bars ANY TIME. I have to say some of their freshly baked breads are nice...chewy textures with crisp or crunchy crusts. I particularly like their oat breads when they sprinkle the tops with fresh oats. Again...I have to say... LEMON BARS. :-) more

High Quality Food 11/8/2007

Everything at Euro Pane is top quality. Some of the best restaurants in the area get all of their bread from Euro Pane. The owner takes very careful efforts to make sure everything they serve there is good. As an example, when they put ""lettuce"" on their sandwiches, it isn't a big leaf of iceberg, it's mixed greens.\r Their coffee is excellent. I drink straight espresso, no sugar, so I notice bad coffee immediately.\r I find it highly amusing that someone criticized the croissants. They are perfect - crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. Croissants anywhere else are very disappointing to me after eating them here.\r You might not think that a tuna salad sandwich is special, but they happen to make their tuna how I like it.\r I highly recommend the meatloaf sandwich, moist and tasty.\r If you like ""slow"" food come here. more

Euro Pane, Euro-Pane In My Asss! 7/2/2007

Go here if you like baby meat pie. I had a pie here. Tasted like baby. \r \r I'm not an expert in the art of cooking, nor am I an expert on the art of babies. I have, however, disregarded my own well-being for the sake of both. Do I want to eat them? Of course. But together? more

Seriously??? Best of?? 3/28/2007

I am mystified as to why this bakery has so many good reviews...it's OK and overpriced. Since I live in Pasadena I made it a point to go to the bakery and was charged a small fortune for a croissant and coffee. I'm not saying it's awful - but I feel the best places are the ones that you would drive out of your way to go to and this isn't the place. I failed to see the specialness about the place. Pros: located in my city Cons: overpriced and average more

It was so good I wanted to cry! 3/23/2007

best lemon bars, brioche, egg salad 6/27/2006

""fen"" dunno what he-she is talkin' about. everything is fresh and delicious. blueberries are my favorite and i love how she (owner) incorporates blueberries in a lot of her pastries. brioche (pistachio/hazelnut/chocolate are the best in my opinion) are only made on weekends - if you're lucky on Thursdays. also HOMEMADE Oreos that put Oreos themselves to shame. \r ::drooling:: just at the thought... Cons: friendly staff, svc is pretty quick more

A Special little bakery/cafe 8/16/2005

The former LaBrea Bakey pastry chef continues to show why her quality is the best in Pasadena & probably one of the best in the country. Egg & chicken salad sandwiches & lemon bars are easy to get wrong, but EuroPanes are the best I've tasted. Cinammon rolls are hard to beat too. Her current service staff are all good without any attitude. Not cheap--but not expensive either--this is Quality. Like coffee? They have the best regular & decaf I've tried in the area. You can really taste the difference compared to most other coffee. One customer told me she comes weekly from Camarillo just for Europane! My luck, I'm just across the street. My only regret is Sumi hasn't opened another location. Pros: Friendliness, Coffee, Everything Tasty Cons: Limited BreakfastMenu more

Way too expensive for what it is! 7/17/2005

OK, I had lunch here during work once, and felt ripped off for what I got. ONE sandwich + a tiny salad (which was alright, not anything spectacular), cost me over $6.00! I don't know about anyone else, but $6 is too much for lunch, unless I'm getting a meal that I can take 1/4 of it home. I got the sandwich on regular french bread, which was horribly dry and hard. It was uncomfortable trying to eat it. The ambience was just ok..not too warm or inviting. I think I'd feel differently if their food was actually tasty. Maybe I'll try something else. I hear their desserts are great, but have you SEEN the portion size compared to the price? They're bite-sized, but cost $2. I know I sound like a cheapskate right now. I just like to get what I pay for, or more. This wasn't satisfying. Pros: Quiet place Cons: $$$$, French bread was hard, So-so service more

Rasperry and Blueberry muffins are delicious! 7/7/2005

I get their muffins on my way to work each day, and I have never tasted anything better. My co-workers agree! more
