Like hanging out at your friend's house but better food! 7/27/2009

I'm become addicted to the pizza here. The sandwiches are also delicious, well I haven't had any food here that isn't delicious with fresh ingredients. The beer on tap varies, the current ""Hazed and Confused"" is my new favorite beer, like and IPA only lighter and perhaps less alcohol content as I am able to drink more of them. :) The owner Eugene is a smiley friendly guy and the servers Mark and Kate are equally delightful and will make you feel at home. They really hustle when it's busy ~ it's well worth the wait; but when it's slow they'll give you the attentiveness we all appreciate when we go to our local bar to hang out for a bit. Great music too by the way, 'Sneakin Out' played at the Divison Street Fair last Saturday, a must see if you haven't before! They'll be back for next year's SE ArtWalk I'm sure, if not sooner. Pros: Friendly, cozy, intimate setting, awesome food & beer Cons: Limited space/seating more

I've never seen anything like it 6/3/2009

Kate fans came from as far away as Florida and Chicago to get a beer. We arrived during a Division St. celebration; I had no idea what to expect. I was telling people we were going to turn Eugenio's into Max Yasgur's farm without the mud and the acid. We pulled up at 9:30 a.m. and there was a line down the sidewalk. It was worth the wait! Pros: Di Carlo Italian Sausage Cons: Lounge music more

If you're driving down Division, stop here! 8/13/2007

Eugenios pizzas are a perfect lunch. The crust is very thin and crispy. There is no tomato sauce, which in this case is good. Everything is very fresh and the meats and cheeses are of obvious high quality. One of my favorite pizzas is the Provenzano (mozzarella, onion, olives, garlic, pepperoni, parmesan, and goat cheese), but I have tried all of the other ones and they are all fabulous. It's not just the exquisite combinations, it's the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The last time I was there, my partner ordered the meatball sandwich and liked it a lot. It is smothered with tomato sauce and the meatballs were spicy and flavorful. It's been a long time since I have ordered one of Eugenios other sandwiches. When i did, it was served on Grand Central Bakery bread, which is a little too chewy for me. I get cravings for Eugenios pizza, where nothing else will do, but there is another reason I keep going back here. Eugenios has a very special feel to it. I don't think you could call it ambiance exactly, but the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. I feel like I'm eating at a friend's house and that my food is prepared with love. It may sound hokey, but stop by for lunch and you'll se what I mean. Pros: Great food in a casual and friendly setting Cons: Limited seating more

ABSOLUTE MUST 5/4/2007

You haven't lived until you have had Eugenio's Meatball Sandwich. The chicken salad is great, but, the meatball sandwich is a religious experience. I have never had a meatball sandwich that I liked. I thought meatball sandwiches sounded disgusting.\r \r Be prepared.. you'll be planning for the next one before you finish the one you're eating. OUTSTANDING!\r \r PS: the pickle's good, too! Pros: The food is excellent! Eugenio's is more than a sandwich place. It's divine. Cons: A dollar more than I would prefer to spend, but, worth it for the quality. more

Great atmosphere 2/1/2007

My husband & I went to Division yesterday with the intent to patronize Victory Wine Bar. As luck would have it, we didn't know they open atl 5pm so we walked a couple blocks down &....serendipity...happened upon Eugenio's. I believe the cafe is named after the gentleman who owns the place ( and waited on us) but I could be wrong. By his own admission, he has one red, one white and one champagne but all you need is one good bottle and the red was wonderful. As we sat at the bar, it became clear quickly that this place is a neighborhood favorite and rightfully so. 'Eugenio' and the young gal working with him are friendly, warm, inviting. I can not attest to the food but the menu had some wonderful offereings & Victory actually buys their meat from Eugenio's (an employee picked up the evening meat order while we were sipping) so that tells you something. The place is small; seating for 5-6 at the bar and about 10 tables on the floor. My husband & I intend to come again for lunch and, who knows, maybe we'll strum the guitar in the bathroom next time! Hey, a place with Leonard Nemoy's LP on the wall is worth a pause. more
