My mom just spent a fortune at Ethan Allen for furnishings for her new home. She was treated very unprofessionally by the staff and I will never give you them my business again. She spent a fortune decorating her new home with consultant Rebecca. Unfortunately, the custom bedding was a terrible choice which she was very unhappy with. Both Rebecca and another employee argued with my mom about it being perfect and that if she just replaced her current pillows and two stools at the bottom of the bed it would work great. Well, the whole idea was to have a new duvet that matched what she already has. She shouldn't have to replace what she already owns which was the whole point. She clearly stated that her goal was to find something that is light and airy to update the room. But, Rebecca apparently doesn't understand what that means, and took no responsibility for her bad design choices. When I walked into her bedroom and looked at it I thought how terrible it looked and that it made what she had look washed out rather than a great addition. Then the reps tried to convince my mom that by adding a white coverlet it would pull the look together. There is nothing else white in the room other than the much to dark and bright new duvet cover. \r

Additionally, the rep did not measure the dining room and ordered a rug which is 8-10"" too wide. She and her boss refuse to exchange it for the correct size. I have never heard of such a thing! So, because of the lack of customer service and downright refusal to fix the problem my mom has to pay another company to cut down the rug to the correct size so people don't walk half on half off when walking through the dining room to go outside. The delivery guys even commented that it was too big, but oh no, the Ethan Allen employees think it ""looks perfect"". Once again, I guess only their dishonesty or poor taste matters. I could go on and on with examples of things that my mom is dissatisfied with about the products that were delivered. The customer service is horrendous. \r

My mom and I are both outraged and furious with not only the lack of good design advice, but complete lack of apology or responsibility from Ethan Allen for this. The parts my mom really likes are the things that I chose for her. These women have displayed appalling behavior all around. When my mom was in the store placing her order a sales associate spoke to her in a demeaning way telling her in a loud voice in front of other customers that ""of course she has to pay with a cashier's check. That is company policy"" and that the amount will change before the final count so that she had to call back to double check the amount later. What? Who's ever heard of a customer having to bring a cashier's check. I told her then this was a mistake to work with such a company. My mom was feeling overwhelmed by all involved in moving on her own and all that is involved with doing so, including having to redecorate a smaller home. From the many years she and my dad shopped at Ethan Allen I think she had faith in the company and the employees that they would a top notch professional organization. Unfortunately, she has learned that this is no longer the case. The customer is not valued, and the customer does not come first. \r
