worth every penny 1/28/2012

I moved to the Upper East Side this Sept from Soho and I was looking for a new fitness routine. When ?googling?, Erika Bloom constantly came up in the nearby results for my neighborhood. Although her website resonated with me as my type of style- I just assumed it was another over rated New York spot- I decided to reach out as none of the other results appealed to me. I started Pilates and Yoga 3 times a week in October- never trying either before. All of the classes offered at the studio are individual. You can select to work with the same person every time- or I chose to try someone new every time. As someone who was never really interested in fitness I have to find ways for me to stay excited, or engaged and being with a different person every time allows me to not anticipate the same moves, and routine before even going. Each person is so different but shares the common thread of the way Erika taught them to bring out their nurturing, warm selves when training you. Each session focuses on you- your strengths, weaknesses, your injuries, shortcomings and how you can improve to be a better you. The instructors are very complimentary and inspiring without being anything less than genuine. I really enjoy it because with my busy schedule its 1 hour that I focus on me. Not e-mails, or errands ? my body and my goals for myself. The staff is so warm, making appointments via e-mail and always trying to accommodate my busy schedule the best they can. They added a new boutique with skincare products, candles and fitness clothes as well since I?ve been there. The training doesn?t just stop at the workout- I feel comfortable to ask questions on how to live and eat a more holistic, balanced lifestyle and everyone is very knoweledable, unpretentious and loves to share their info. I really feel different inside; I look at my body in a different way. You shouldn?t come here for a fad way to work out, or a quick fix, it is def. a life changing spirituality that all New Yorkers can def. benefit from. I highly recommend? more

Best kept secret 2/17/2010

This is honestly the best kept fitness secret in NYC. It is tucked away in the middle of Madison Ave on the second floor of an apartment building. Though it sounds exclusive and the neighborhood might make it so, the receptionist are extremely friendly, without the pushiness of usual gyms, and the instructors are experienced. The private sessions are great as you get individual attention and the experience of someone who actually knows anatomy and how your body works. Not just a man with a dumbbell. In addition, the environment is relaxing. Great escape from the city. Highly recommend it!!! Pros: Individual attention and expertise more

Best pilates in town 11/10/2006

Erika Bloom is simply the best pilates instructor in town! She is incredibly knowledgeable, highly educated in her field and a professional who is personable and a pleasure to work with. Her studio is immaculate and all the machinery is brand new. I highly recommend Erika and her other professionals whether you want simply to tone, sculpt and lengthen your body or have a specific, chronic problem that needs expert attention. Both my husband and I attend her studio regularly and have been delighted with the results. Erika has been in the pilates business for many years but has recently opened her studio on Madison Avenue. It's one of the best kept secrets in New York! more

Excellent mind and body work 10/22/2006

While I have only worked with Erika Bloom, I know how dedicated and committed she is to the perfection of alignment and the results of having a body in good working order. She has a combination of both a medical and dance background which gives her insights to the body workings that few instructors have. more

Best Pilates Studio in NY with the best teachers . 10/21/2006

The place is clean, fresh and airy. The teachers are great and have been teaching for many years. They pay attention to every small movement made and are so detailed and thorough in the way they teach. The Pilates equipement is brand new and top of the line. The pilates group classes are small so it's like having a personal session because the teacher can see what you are doing and correct you. more

Finally, a GREAT Pilates studio in the neighborhood! 10/20/2006
