Vets Who Care 9/17/2013

My wife and I have been taking our new puppy to Dr. Tapper and the team at Emerald Hills Animal Hospital, and we couldn't be happier with the service we've received there. \r \r Most recently, my wife took our pup to Dr. Tapper for a series of routine vaccinations and a fecal float test. Everything seemed to go fine until she brought our puppy home, whereupon he started yelping, fussing and cowering inside of his crate or under our couch. Our dog is usually an indiscriminate lover of all people and quite affectionate towards my wife, so she immediately became concerned. I was at work all day that day and was unaware of this developing situation at home until I began to receive panicked texts from my wife. To compound the situation, we were both new to dog ownership and had no clue whether the puppy's behavior was normal or an ominous sign of some terrible adverse reaction. \r \r Work was especially busy that day so I was unable to call Emerald Hills until close to their closing time (my wi more

Best Vet!! 1/18/2011

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Tapper since moving to Broward County in 1997. He and his staff are top-notch professionals, and have given such great care and service each time I take my pets in for a visit! They are very compassionate, and really take the time to listen to their patients. They always make great recommendations on products and services, but I find they're not pushy if you decline. I can't imagine taking my babies to anyone else-best vet I've ever had! more

5 star animal hospital. Dr. Ron Tapper is outstanding and so is his staff. They are all compassionate and friendly. Dr. Tapper kept my beloved Lab going and saved her life. She has since gone to doggie heaven. She was almost 13. more

I am originally from South Florida 5/2/2010

Hello All, \r \r I am originally from South Florida. I remember that I know Dr. Tapper is an excellent doctor almost 20 years ago. I remember where he took care with my old cat Amy. She is very sick with her cancers. She is very poor cats. We are miss her very much and I remember where we brought new cat Amy since I am younger by age 14 years old. She is wonderful cats and she always like go outside all of the times and when she is coming back into the house. I remember that I took her to the vet where the doctor is put her to sleep and she is passed away. We are very sad to see my old cats Amy. Now, she is cremated. more

Emerald Hills Animal Hospital 9/8/2009

Dr. Tapper and the associates he has had over the past ten years have provided my two dogs with excellent care. I can recommend this facility without hesitation and it is due to their careful examination that one of my dogs survived liver cancer two years ago and is still a happy 12 year old! more

Very expensive 7/1/2009

I had used one of the newer vets in this practice because Dr Tapper wasn't available for my Siamese cat that wasn't eating. I mentioned that the animal had a foul odor coming from his mouth. The vet examined the teeth and gums and proclaimed them "ok" then went on to order $600 worth of tests. The cat was 14 yrs old. One of the animals kidney's was failing and he was put on daily water infusion therapy. This went on for 2 months with me coming back every third week to complain that the cat was not eating solid food and was suffering and that I wanted my beautiful cat put down. They wouldn't do it until, after 2 months and $1200 , they honored my request. After the animal was dead, I looked in his mouth and lifted his tongue. There was a huge tumor on the front part of the underside of the tongue--something that could have been found and removed 2 months earlier and without the suffering the animal went through and, needless to say, without the expense . Pros: Qualified Vets Cons: Too reliant on testing, not enough careful diagnosis more

People read! 10/25/2008

My cat Mickey, I had him since I was little. I realized after my dog passed away that Mickey was becoming more and more ill, losing weight and his gums were turning white. I knew these signs could be from Feline Leukemia. My sister looked up the signs for this and the signs matched what was happening to Mickey. We took him to Emerald Hills Animal Clinic and the doctor told us it was just an infection and to buy these antibiotics and they should help him. My sister and I personally think they just gave us a load of bull and the drugs were just to help him die quicker. We had them run a Feline Leukemia test and they said he didn't have it it was only an infection. There is no possible way that they ran the test on him because if they did they would of seen the results come back positive. Within a week of the test my cat died pretty much by bleeding to death. When I called the vet a few days later she said sorry and had no emotion in her voice. I would advise you all to not use this Anima more

Professional and empathetic service 5/5/2008

We have had numerous cats at Emerald Hills over the last 6 years, and have always received what we considered to be professional and empathetic service. I have found them to be ready to present and discuss options in a patient way. They appear to cats and dogs with equal interest and attention, where we felt another local vet was very dog oriented. more

Treatment of female cat 10/13/2007

Emerald Hills Veterinary Clinic entered into a contractual agreement by providing services and accepting legal payment for such services. A nine year old house cat has been seen by this clinic all of her life for shots, bathing, and nail clipping. Recently, the cat was not walking correctly and seemed lethargic, so a visit to Dr. Tapper was made and he recently diagnoised early stage diabetes. He had administered a "curve" test and sold us insulin and syringes with instructions to administer three units after feeding at the same time each day. The cat was taken to Dr. Tapper for a follow up visit a week later, and after taking a blood sample and doing a glucose test, said the cat's glucose level was not quite up to the right level, and to try four units of insulin a day. He did not perform a curve test for determining the 4 unit dosage. For several days the instructions were followed. Friday, the cat became unable to walk or stir. The cat was taken to Dr. Weiner at Emerald Hills, wh more
