BLAND NO FLAVOR FOOD 6/23/2009

Being from south Texas, we haven't be able to find REAL MEXICAN food yet, so we thought we'd try this place. We placed our order, started out with an appetizer, Nacho's Supreme. This came out looking like baby sh*t on a shingle, refried beans with cheese and nacho's. We told our waiter we ordered the supreme? So he took it away, brought the same plate back, 2 minutes later with lettuce, a spoonful of sour cream and a half slice of tomatoe. There was no other tomatoes with our order. We are at a mexican restaurant and their food is served without tomatoes??? We didn't even eat half of that and our food came out. All we could do was laugh and look at each other and ask this is mexican? Let's hope it taste better then it looks. NOT The chile relleno was a bell pepper with some fried meat and cheese, very bland tasting. The tamale was porked filled with beans on top of it??? Pork tasted old and very bland. We also ordered the Carne Asada ( 3 steak tacos) which consist of very bland bits of steak with lettuce on a stale out of the bag flour tortilla? What part of Mexico do these people come from? After eating 2 or 3 bites of this disgusting meal, we were DONE. Waiter came and asked if we wanted to go boxes, lol NOT. Told him we didnt enjoy this meal, it tasted very bland and this isn't mexican food we know. (Nicely said) I am not a complainer, I do not like to complain, I had no choice. He said manager would take care of it at register. Boy was that a joke, he screamed and raised his voice at us because we thought his food was GROSS. Told him we are from South Texas and this aint mexican, maybe a poor excuse for mexican. So he told us that texas doesn't have real mexican food, I'm from Mexico, and you don't know mexican. Born and raised 3 hours from the border and We don't know mexican? Okay smart a**, more like Virginia don't know Mexican. It's ashame you got to go far south to eat a real mexican dinner. Maybe one day we will find a real mexican restaurant in Virginia. If you are a true southerner and you know mexican like we do, do not waste your $. I could of went to Taco Bell and got a better tasting dinner for $30. Taco Bell taste like gourmet mexican compared to El Marachi's, I wouldn't even feed this sh*t to my dog, that should tell you! Cons: mexican food and no tomatoes?????? more

Closest true mexican food in the area... 1/2/2009

If you have to ask for white sauce, you don't know what real Mexican food is...sorry. I spent 10 years in Southern California and found just how spoiled I was when I moved back to the East Coast. I've been on a search for good mexican food since I got here 2 years ago and haven't found anything worth mentioning until now. El Mariachi's is the closest it gets to true mexican food. The Tex-Mex places like Plaza Azteca is horrible, they can't even make a decent margarita. I would almost bet the only reason El Mariachi's salsa isn't spicier is because East Coasters can't handle real Mexican spiciness. The customer service is always good, food is consistant, great & tasty. This is the only mexican place worth spending my money at. The best margarita's, hands down, in town! Cons: bad parking more

Where's the Flavor??? 10/30/2008

We are used to another Mexican restaurant in our area. I guess when we decided to dine here (because we had a coupon) we expected what we were used to. To start, the Salsa was very bland. We had to ask for the ""white dip"" that our favorite Mexican eatery gives us. What a shock it was when we tasted this! Not too good! The chips had a cardboard consistancy and left a strange aftertaste in your mouth.\r We did not order any alcohol this visit, so I can't comment on the Margaritas. I ordered a combo with Tamale, Chili Rellana, and Tostada, and my wife ordered one with Chili Rellana and a Burrito, with rice and beans. The Tamale was kind of bland but had a nice combo of beans and ground meat on top. The chili rellana looked like an open faced bell pepper with mushy meat and cheese inside. Not so good. The tostada was messy and hard to eat with way too much shredded lettuce.\r My wife said that her meal was pretty much tasteless. We used to come here a few years ago, and it was much better. The staff was very friendly and the service was good. Too bad the food was below average. Pros: fast, friendly, and cheap Cons: bad salsa, chips, and bland food more
