Best

If you're up in the area, give this a try. The menu has many many items on it, and I think that can make one feel overwhelmed. I also think that it causes the restaurant to lose ...

Worst

A huge disappointment! Service was mediocre at best. Waiter had a bad attitude from the moment he realized we weren't ordering drinks and full meals. We are all trying to watc...

Our family of 7 recently visited on a busy weekday night. We were immediately offered a table in the very back room, but opted to wait 10 minutes for a table in the much nicer main room (it's prettier and has more character). The waiter and the waiter's assistant were very helpful in describing the menu and answering questions. When the food arrived, it was excellent. One person had poblano soup which he said was superb. I had the green corn chicken enchildas which have always been excellent... the tomatillo sauce is one of the best around. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals as well. This restaurant has been at this location for over 25 years and despite the recession has always maintained a healthy business.... a definite favorite among locals. more

El Jarro never dissapoints, whether you are looking for a light meal or a real dig in you can find it here. Their food is so authentic and very fresh, from ceviche to cabrito it's delish. They amaze me with their way of accomodating large groups at the last minute on a very busy friday night. If you've never tried El Jarro you are missing a real treat! more

love the shrimp and steak special. Their cabrito is also flavorful and well portioned. Their salsa is fresh and has that tartness from lime juice i love. (not like the Condensed Tomato Soup salsa that is everywhere in S.A.) Light/thin chips are served as a starter. Again, much better than many heavy, thick waffle type tortilla chips that are common here. Their Flash fried spinach is wonderful. Fresh home made tortillas and quality pescado. There is a good variety on the menu and there are several dishes that display a true ""Mexico"" mexican flavor, as opposed to a Tex-mex flavor. Their Arturo's Margarita is my favorite. it's very strong both in heat and lime tartness- not sweet at all. more

We drive an hour round trip every month to eat here. I have the house margarita on the rocks and my husband has the Arturos margarita (no sugar/mixer). The botana platter with black bean nachos, Chicken and beef skewers, and chicken flautas is awesome. The special salad with feta is great too. Live music and dancing on weekend nights more

I've been going to Arturo's since about 1984. The food is excellent. The house margaritas are very good (tart). When the Arturo's (name of one top shelf margarita) are made correctly they are the best margaritas I've ever had. more

I've been here several times and loved it every time. The lunch buffet is both reasonably priced and really delicious. Everything here is homemade and the margarita pitchers are AWESOME more

We had a wonderful dinner last night at this great, locally owned San Antonio restaurant. I had the Carne Asada, and my wife had Chicken Marsala. Our dinners were delicious, the service was prompt and courteous. We love the place.\r more

Nice patio and a band inside on the weekends.Great lunch buffet (cheap). My very favorite plate is the cabrito, even though the price keeps going up and up. My wife loves the Salad ala George. Kids like nachos and green enchiladas. Love their chips and salsa. The best. Don't miss the goat cheese and mushroom quesadilla appetizers. And their Margaritas are the best in town. more

I came here for a work function last week and everything went very well. It was about 13 of us and we received great service all evening. It was open bar and I first ordered just a regular margarita which was ok but for the next few I ordered the Arturo margarita which is like a Mexican martini. Now that one packs a punch! The food was buffet style and we were served anticuchos of beef and chicken, both were delicious and tender. There was also some picadillo which I like because it had sliced almonds in it and a nice flavor to it. We also had some chips n queso (ok), taquitos and quesadillas along w lots of salsa and those warm tortillas. Everyone seemed happy that evening. Now I will say its not a place to order Tex-Mex but the rest of the food has been pretty good in the past. I've been coming here off and on for the past 10yrs and will probably keep coming back.\r more

Our little group has been eating there for 25 or more years. They treat us like Kings and we appreciate it. more

Their Sunday brunch is so very tasty and has breakfast as well as lunch offerings. The waitstaff is friendly and easy going. If you get there early the place will be almost empty since the church crowd hasn't let out yet, but worry not the crowd will get bigger and bigger. The restaurant caters to an older crowd, but is friendly to the more youthful patron as well. more

Fabulous food, awesome atmosphere, and great date spot. This place was suggested by the front desk staff at the hotel. Excellent choice. We had the Red Snapper with Capers and Fresh Fried Spinach along with Salmon with Fried Spinach. There was a live band that played soul and R&B that just set the atmosphere. It's a must go to spot. This place is better than anything I have had on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I WILL BE BACK. more
