Dreadful customer service 12/10/2010

I really love San Angelo. My parents do too. They came to visit for the 3rd time recently and were as smitten as ever with everyone and everything......EXCEPT for Eggemeyers!!!! I sent my mother to visit Eggemeyers whilst I went to a couple of other shops and then met up with her. She looked very downcast and her cheerful spirit was lost. She didn't say anything. We went back into the store as I had to buy something as a last minute gift. She came in with me and was astounded at how unresponsive all the staff were. Nobody looked up and smiled. They never do. I have been in a few times before, and always vow I'll never go back because of such unfriendly customer service. So why do I go back? Because I feel that "next time might be better". So, I pick something up and wait in the line for what seems ages. Again, there is no eye contact, no smile, no "I'll be with you in a minute". Nothing. The atmosphere is cold and sterile. Stiff, snooty and starchy. I make the transaction and I don't even get a "thank you" or a smile. I wish I hadn't bought anything now. They don't deserve anyone's business. Oh, I wonder if I'd have had good customer service had I picked out something massive? I know how staff can be when they smile upon those whom they think will make a big purchase. Fake all the way. I came out of the shop with my mother and she looked at me and sighed. We both said "oh - that's awful" and my mother then proceeded to tell me about her equally bad customer service when she'd been there just a little earlier. She was very alarmed at the hostility. She felt bad vibes all the way. more

Highly upset. 11/13/2010

Walked in loved the place, approached by wonderful staff, planned on buy lot's of christmas items. Walked back to the wine bar. 3 men 1 w/customer. The other 2 completely ignored me. I asked politely was there anything local. Was snickered@ then ignored. The only difference between me & the other woman was that I was black. My fiance was floored he was ignored also &is caucasian. Leaving I was approached by a polite young man who asked if i needed anything; I stated what happened & explained that i put everything back due 2 that experience. He knew exactly who it was & stated that several customers complain about the treatment back there. It's sad that such a nice store can have people in there with no sense of business. terrible experience. more

Have children? Stay out of Eggemeyers. 10/11/2010

Good: Wonderful, unique, upscale, fun gifts, toys- Great selection of kitchen, dining items Anticipation of my grandchildren's delight in all the cool toys. Bad: Lurking, scolding, rude sales staff stalking every move even though we had 4 adults supervising 3 well behaved children. Tacky warning signs posted everywhere. "Do not touch, do not pick up" attitude for children's items unless you are purchasing. Constant reprimands to customers by staff No friendliness, just being followed as if being spied upon. Crushing the spirit of fun that is the potential of this store.. Improvements: Child-friendly staff in a store with such wonderful things for children. Welcoming atmosphere Courteous treatment of potential customers who acknowledge that they are in a nice store. (Class begets class.) Understanding that most people are respectful and honest & deserve to be treated likewise. Allow customers to shop, examine some items, show children how toys work, as long as supervised. Allow adults to do the above without being reprimanded. Encourage the fun factor potential.. Other: Can't imagine having a store with the potential for so much fun for children to experience, and then being so rude to the very people who would love to buy & share those things with their little ones. Before entering, I had told my granddaughter that her first gift from me came from this store 12 years ago & had told grandson that he would love this fun store. However, that joy was crushed by our treatment. We finally walked out without making any intended purchases-very disappointed children & adults.. more

Not an experience worth repeating 5/14/2010

The store has great stuff but is VERY overpriced. Also, the staff seemed very snooty and unhelpful and didn't really know anything about the merchandise they carry. When I overheard one of the sales staff say they hated wasting time dealing with the country hicks that came into the store, I left and will never go back. more

Cool store 9/22/2005

This is a really neat store. They have a ton of little knick knacks and cool things for your home. This is a great place to get something for yourself or a gift for someone else. They had some really neat Christmas items. They have a wide variety of flavored coffees. They have a whole room just for kitchen supplies and cooking. This is a must see in San Angelo! more
