I have shopped this store for years also. I have done all my family and friends wedding cakes for the past 10 years or more and have ordered everything from this store. The staff has always gone out of there way to help.I needed over 250 star shaped cookie cutters and Carol made sure I got them and on time. I call and place orders and they always are friendly.I now live out of California but when I call to place an order I have no problems.You do not know how lucky you are to be able to get the stuff you need I can not get anything like this where I live I have to call Edwards and they always are there to help. What if she closed what would you do then? We all have bad days Maybe whan you are shopping you are having a bad day and choose to blame them. Be greatful they are there to sell to us. I do not know of any other place you can get specialty things like she offers.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STORE. And will continue to shop at Edwards. more

I have shopped at this store for years and they carry very unique items but if you are looking for great customer service do not look for it here. The owner Carol is very rude and just not helpful at all. After spendin $150 two days prior I called to ask for assitance with a unique cupcake liner and was treated as if I was bothering her when I asked what the problem was she stated she was just ""frustrated with me"" wow I couldn't believe she would say that to me when I just spent $150 two days prior....If she had expressed her frustration then I would have taken my money elsewhere. I would not recommend shopping here if you are looking for a pleasant shopping experience. I believe everyone should be treated with respect and kindness and unfortunately it seems that I am the owner of Edwards, Carol does not feel the same. more

I came across this site and realized that it wasn't just me... there are others who are not satisfied with this store and they seem to ignore the fact that they need nicer people up front!! I agree with BAKES CAKES (down below) that if we're talking about the same lady up front, is very rude. (The one im talking about is the short chubby lady with short hair) We were there like 2 or 3 weeks ago and she did the same thing to my wife and I. We asked a simple question and she seemed like she was ready to go home, almost like she was holding her breath with us and not to mention LAZY. THE MANAGMENT TEAM NEEDS TO PULL HER TO THE BACK OR FIRE HER. Sorry to say. more

I've been here 4 different times and all 4 times this Lady is completely rude. Not to mention other staff were short with their answers and also rude. I love the stuff they carry but I HATE THE SERVICE, UGH!!! I've asked for assistant several times and they continue to ignore me. Then when they came over they seem almost irritated? but why? this is why you have a business smart people!!.. So you can have customers right? ugh! And then she dares talks to me like im the dumb one and like my questions were stupid or something... Well that's why we ask... cause we really don't know and you as a worker here should be willing to educate your customers about your products!! And don't even think about taking your kids into this little old box store... THEY HATE KIDS! They litterally watch your kids the whole time and they have something to say about your kid's every moment. ""You break it, you but it!!"" is what she said my son. First three times I was there I chalked up their bad service as holiday stress. Now, I am way less patient with their rude staff. The other day I was in there and the younger brunette basically scolded another customer next to me who asked for Red Velvet Cake Mix. The woman laughed and then raised her voice at her telling her that quote ""All moms should know"" that its just chocolate mix with red dye. I thought MAYBE I misheard her. Then a woman asked what price some knives were and the woman rallied off the price. The woman was astonished and quietly mumbled that Target had them for more than 50% less. The woman turned on her and said ""Well GO BUY THEM THERE THEN IF ITS SO DANG CHEAP."" What the heck? I ended up putting half my purchases back because I was just so disgusted with her behavior. So much supporting local businesses. I'd rather go online and WAIT 2 weeks for my order than go back in there. Also- I found cupcake molds at Joanns for 2 bucks. Same ones at Edwards were over 6. I have shopped at this store a few times and have always found what I needed. I just went again yesterday and not only was I asked and shown what I needed. While checking out I was helped quickly and friendly. They also had a small child helping and he was not only friendly but sweet but when engaged in conversation with him he was informative but knew the topic well and had up to date information. I was a wonderful experience, especially since it is the holiday season and some places are not as friendly. I highly recommend shopping in this store. When I go to a place and the staff is grumpy, snooty, or gives poor customer service, I chalk it up to a bad day or a incompetent employee and won't hold a grudge. It saddens me to see some of these harsh reviews that are posted. I am fairly new to cake within the last 2 years. I started out by taking classes at Edwards and just fell in love with it! The teachers that they choose for their classes are wonderful. I have learned so much from them and had fun in the process. As far as learning, it's not just the the classes, I can go an ask a questions to any one of the gals and they have no problem sharing with me the wisdom they have about cakedom. Alta is great she just helped me figure out tiering a huge cake and was a tremendous help. Carol has been more than helpful when I have special needs or requests, she even went as far as opening a package and selling me just one of the items so I wouldn't have to buy the whole set! Who does that?? I thought that was great, that is customer service at it's best! I love the fact that she keeps quality chocolates and cake filling in stock. And the selection of tools and supplies- well I rarely walk out empty-handed. The resources are always there and if not she will order it if she can. Walking into Edward's is like ""Cheers"" they all know my name and greet me when I walk in or when I leave. You don't get that type of personal service many other places. After reading some of the reviews I am sadly disappointed that people have nothing better to do than be cruel in their remarks. I to have shopped at this store for well over 30 years. I have watched this store grow from a small little store carrying a few wiltons supplies to a wonderful store that carries everything a baker could ever want. This store has the largest supply of cake decorating supplies in the Central Valley. In addition, should you be a bride looking for a cake topper or other supplies for your wedding you will find what you need at Edwards. If its not there they are happy to do a special order of the topper you desire. I do agree that Alta is the sweetest employee in the store and has been a dedicated employee for many years. She has also been a teacher there for many years. She of course has the knowledge to assist people with any ideas or thing they are looking for. She is famous for her drawings and assisting people tin creating the cake they envision only in their mind. In recent years, it is unfair to say that service has been bad. They have had many valuable employees who have been sweet and helpful. (Amy, Joann, Jamie, Suzanna, Dawne, Brenda just to name a few) and while like any other business they have had some not so good. This happens anywhere. Do not judge the store on just their service. They carry many items that are imported from other countries. These items you will not find anywhere else locally. They also carry a wonderfull supply of books, and pans and cookie cutters. If you want cupcake liners for any occasion you will find them there. If you are a candy maker you will find both high quality chocolate and chocolate that needs no tempering. There are also flavors galore. If you need help with an help with an idea just ask. Well I needed cake supplies, so I went to the only place in town, Edwards Cake & Candy. Love the product that they offer, however can't stand the POOR customer service, with the exception of Alta & Joanne. I used to always take clients in to buy product from the wedding section, but now there is a B-E-O-T-C-H who sits there and patrols the wedding section and does not allow the customers to familarize theselves with product. Since when can't we check things out before we buy them. Personally I NOW take my Brides-to-be to The Baker's Place to purchase their toppers. I recently learned of a new cake decorating store called The Bakers Place located in the McHenry Village. The Baker's Place carries the wedding toppers and lets us touch them before we buy them. Edwards should do themselves a favor and get rid of that inexperienced ""wedding consultant"" that reeks of an ashtray. Pros: Great variety, ample parking. Cons: Customer service more

I have been using Edwards Cake and Candy for at least 10 years, and while they were on Coffee road, I never had a problem with anyone there. Mostly, Alta was my saving grace with her knowledge and tips on easier ways to do things. I've been there a few times since they've moved to Bangs ave, and when Alta isn't there, or she's in the back, I have to agree, especially ONE of those clerks behaves as though you haven't a brain in your head. I've been decorating cakes for over 30 years, and this unknown woman tried to tell me I didn't know what I was doing when I was buying the boards for my latest project, a STACKED, not tiered wedding cake. If it weren't for ALTA, I'd go elsewhere, but we've done business together for a long time, and I know I can trust her.. Just ask for Alta when you go in... your customer service will improve 1000%! When I first walked into the store my jaw dropped because they have everything i could ever need. They have alot of items that I had never seen and I could definitely use for cake decorating. I was in awe and totally glad that i had drove 40 minutes there, UNTIL, my son touches a cookie cutter. The lady took it from his hands. Totally rude! If i go back I will go there on my own and leave the kids at home. I thought they were a little overpriced as well. But it is an awesome store! I have been very disappointed with this store the past couple of years. The customer service is terrible. The employees are extremely rude and not very helpful. Most of the business I do there is for my children, yet when I go into the store they follow us around like hawks to be sure my children don't go near anything. I would understand if my kids ran all over the place, but they didn't touch anything while we were in the store and were still scolded for going near some items. I have been going to Edwards for the past several years and even took courses there (Linda is a fabulous teacher, btw...) However, the last couple times have been really bad.....they are snooty and not terribly helpful and the owner is forever in the background hollering out orders to everyone. Their stock is skimpy and it seems I can never find what I am looking for when I go in. They are also outta site expensive on lots of their stuff. more

IT IS NOT EVERY DAY YOU FIND AN ESTABLISHMENT COMPLETELY EQUIPT WITH EVERYTHING YOUR LITTLE HEART DESIRES, BUT TO SUM IT UP THIS PLACE HAS IT ALL. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR YOUR CREATIVE CANDY MAKING OR CAKE PROJECTS THEY ALSO HAVE CLASSES VERY REASONABLE PRICES AND IT IS A PLACE YOU FEEL VERY WELCOME. THEY PLAY CHRISTIAN RADIO WHILE YOU SHOP SO IT IS JUST A VERY VERY WELCOMING WELCOMING AND HOME LIKE FEELING WHEN I AM THERE, NOW THAT I HAVE FOUND IT I WILL ONLY SHOP THERE, MY RECOMENDATION WOULD BE IF YOU ARE NOT INTO THAT TYPE OF THING, JUST GO THERE AND LOOK AT SOME OF THE THINGS THEY HAVE YOU MAY BE INSPIRED.
