I have been there once before and it was great. The last time I went in the service was horrible, the food took FOREVER and was not as good. The server was so rude I will never go...

Fantastic brunch 5/13/2012

I attended a brunch at Eden Restaurant. The food was fantastic and varied. The presentation as well as quality were five-star. The plum tart for dessert with a shortbread-like crust was divine, as were the chocolate-dipped strawberries after that. The chef paid us a visit at the end, and was very friendly and personable. I would highly recommend Eden for any party, gathering or dinner out. more

Wow 3/15/2010

What a great place. The best french dip in town without a doubt. Do no be fooled, also great and sophisticated food. Even better byob and pair a great wine with a fantastic meal. We will be back many more times. more

BEST FOOD IN DALLAS 1/7/2010

I travel all of the time so I eat out a lot, and this is the best food at the most reasonable prices that I have had in Dallas. Far surpasses Stephen Pyles new place which does have nice decor and pretty belly dancers, (NEITHER OF WHICH HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHY I GO OUT TO EAT!!) but the food (at SP's) is just mediocre there. At Eden I can really see people who care about the quality of the food and service that they are giving to each customer. After eating at Eden a couple of times, I took my mom there for High Tea : WHAT A TREAT! This is the best High Tea that I have had since High Tea in London at the 5-star hotel (Dorchester?) there in town. What is more, mom is a bit hard of hearing, and we had no problem talking at Eden because they do not pipe in the usually loud and awful background music that most Dallas restaurants seem to insist on. I strongly recommend Eden to everyone. Pros: GREAT FOOD AT GREAT PRICES FROM GREAT PEOPLE Cons: no disappointments at Eden more

Have to agree or BEST FRENCH DIP on the planet!! 9/28/2009

I concur : THE BEST FRENCH DIP that I have ever eaten anywhere. It's served on a toasted soft sub roll with fresh baked Prime Rib piled high on it (whatever color that you prefer) and steaming hot Au Jus to dip in. The whole thing comes with a choice of soup or salad, fresh home baked breads, and a lovely strawberry dipped in rich dark chocolate! It's a wonderful feast even for my hearty appetite. Pros: The food is always great and reasonably priced. Cons: they only do breakfast for Sunday Brunch more

BEST FRENCH DIP I'VE EVER HAD 9/27/2009

Read my comment on 'chvela's' review; she was there the day that we were there. Our lunch was GREAT : fast and delicious. Her lunch was not great because she was a part of it; she was a loud, obnoxious, sour, old biddy that God could not please if he had parked and washed her SUV, waited on her hand and foot, made her lunch himself, and picked up the tab for it too! The poor sweet little waitress never said anything to her but ""Yes mam"" and ""No mam""! (Never one ""rude"" word.) I was a bit surprised, and proceeded to join in, as the whole restaurant (patrons, not staff) started clapping when this abhorant loud old lady finally left!! Anyway, we ALWAYS enjoy our time at Eden. The food and service are always outstanding. We HIGHLY RECOMEND Eden to everyone. Pros: Fresh food at reasonable prices & great people Cons: chvela, who, thank god, won't be back more

Don't catch them on a 'bad day'! 9/27/2009

I have been there once before and it was great. The last time I went in the service was horrible, the food took FOREVER and was not as good. The server was so rude I will never go back there again! more

Genuine Food, Genuine People 8/22/2009

A few years ago we came across this place via an online search. Since then we have returned dozens of times for their great food, excellent baked goods and genuine service/people. The restaurant is delicate country with a hint of latin influence. You dine on white tablecloths and nice china, but the walls are accented with bright colors. I read a review on here mentioning the lights... Well, they do have candles and dimmers, but I have never noticed them before I read the review. We have had several different servers, (Our fav is the VERY friendly/warm, cute SE Asian lady whose name fails me right now.) and our service has always been fantastic. I will admit that since there is one chef and the food is fresh (not mass produced like chain restaurants) 1 out of 10 times it can take a little bit to get your main dish. But the quality of the food certainly made up for it. When you arrive you are given a basket of fresh breads, (I love the carrot muffins). They have seasonal soups, great salads and good appetizers. For your entree they have nicer full entrees (which cost between 13-30 dollars) or they have fantastic sandwiches (which cost between 5-13). My grandfather loves their grilled cheese and my husband always tries to get their BLT. It comes with a salad, soup or side. I have had their desserts infrequently, because usually I am too full! But they bring out a wonderful Belgium chocolate covered strawberry at the end of the dinner. Overall: GO! Try it. It is really good. It's a genuine place with great food. Late at night there are lots of mid 20's year old there eating and drinking their BYOB. FYI: To add to the realness of the place, the chef recently started trying a COOP where people can buy whole food through her.. Fresher foods at Better Prices. Pros: Breads, Fresh Foods, Great Environment, BYOB Cons: 1/10 times it can take a bit to get your food more

WHAT GREAT FOOD 7/12/2009

WOW!!!! What a great little spot! BYOB and reasonable prices. Excellent homemade foods and a really nice waitstaff. Join their Food Co-Op and buy your groceries at wholesale prices too. What a bargin!! Pros: Great Food & Ambiance & BYOB Cons: not any more

BEST Chef driven Cafe in Dallas!! 6/29/2009

Nice quiet BYOB restaurant with GREAT HOMEMADE (from scrach) FOOD at reasonable prices, and a clean and relaxing ambiance. When the weather is nice they have a completely screened patio in back that makes you feel like you are in your own back yard, but with a waitress and wonderful food. This is also the best place in town to eat Sunday Brunch which they have a whole seperate menu for, of things like eggs Bennedict, etc. We have never had a bad meal at Eden and we have tasted a lot of the menu items over the past +/- 4 years that we have been going there. The Prime Ribb French Dip is the best 'French Dip' in the country, bar none!! Eden also has the best afternoon High Tea in town with over a dozen tea selections, tea sandwiches, fresh scones, French Pastries, and much more, for only $20.00; what a great way to relax on a hot or cold afternoon! (You need reservations for High Tea though so call a day ahead.) The outside of Eden is deceptive because people park in back and walk (we walk there from home), so go inside to eat with your bottle of wine (BYOB), and you will be very pleasantly surprised by its beauty and deliciousness!! Pros: Fresh Homemade Foods; no background music; reasonable prices Cons: NONE!! more

Don't Bother 4/3/2009

Such a disappointment! I had high hopes for a reasonably priced ""chef-driven"" restaurant in the Bluffview area. Eden was a complete let-down. The Meatloaf ($16.95) was no comparison to Celebration across the street and was better-suited to a Swanson TV dinner - Knor gravy covered the entire plate (meatloaf and the mashed potatoes) and the potatoes tasted suspiciously from a packet as well. The Beef Stroganoff (supposedly tenderloin) at $26.95 was utterly bland and lacking of the supposed main ingredient. Honestly, I've had better Stroganoff with Hambuger Helper. Pros: Bread Cons: Everything Else more

Lovers Ln Eatery 10/17/2008

Great neighborhood for food. more

Great customer service and quality food. 8/25/2008

Great place for a quiet business lunch. The service was very attentive and efficient. The salad selection was good. The entress range from chicken to pork to seafood. Very distinctive menu selection. Great mango ice tea but can bring your own bottle if appropriate to the occasion. Lovely decorated old home off lovers. Very creative chef. more

Great dining. 8/24/2008

Having been to Eden numerous times, we have always been impressed with the food and service. Eden is not Jack in the Box; the food is elegant: lovely to behold in presentation and taste. The service is always good and unobtrusive. The latency between arrival at Eden, ordering and arrival of the food is mitigated by the variety of excellent baked goods served up as an appetizer. Sufficient time is allowed to savor these delights. (If you want more butter, ask for it; the purpose of fine dining is to please, not to founder.) Pros: Talented chef creating culinary delights at reasonable prices. Cons: The parking is as good as it can be but is often a problem. more

Gourmet food in a relaxed atmosphere 8/23/2008

As a long time customer of Eden, it is about itme I took the opportunity to sing it's praises. Nestled in a period home from the 50's, Eden has been providing it's customers with wonderful food and service for several years.. Chef Karen Kahn is a gifted chef with passion for food and taking care of her customers. Every meal we have enjoyed in her restaurant has been wonderful. Some of our favorites are her arranged salads which are works of art with the house artichoke dressing, mmmmm...good enough to eat with a spoon (which I have done on occasion). My husband's favorite is her Frenh dip sandwich with rare roast beef cooked to perfection. When he wants comfort food, meatloaf is always his choice since she has raised that common entree to new heights of flavor with her burgandy mushroom sauce. Since my tastes range wildly, Chef Karen always comes up with the right suggestion for my mood. During our last meal there, I enjoyed her wonderful tomatos. layered with fresh mozzarella and dressed with basalmic vinegar and basil with a bowl of her delightful potato salad. As always, I finished my meal with the most perfect chocolate mousse I have ever eaten. Pros: wonderful food Cons: Parking is limited to small area in the back of the restaurant with only room for about 4 cars in the front more

Could be a good find with improved food and service! 7/27/2008

Delightful decor and atmosphere, but do you not go for the food and service as well? My first experience tonight will be my last -- Pros: Delightful atmosphere Cons: Spoiled first course, mediocre second course and not hot, and horrible service!! more

Great Food 3/20/2008

This is my first time to submit a review. I decided to check this place out after finding it here on citysearch. Me and my girlfriend made it a double date night with another couple. After we went to a movie we stopped into Eden?s. It was on off night, Monday, so there wasn?t very many people there. It is classy enough to take your date to but relaxed enough to have a good time. First up was the bread. Incredible, multiple different kinds, banana nut bread, bit sized carrot bread muffins, zucchini bread, bite sized blue berry muffins, and more. On the second basked of bread that they brought to us there was no zucchini bread in there and we didn?t say anything, we just started eating the other kinds that they had. A few minutes late the waiter (Owner) came to our table with a whole loaf of zucchini bread and explained that they had no more thawed out so he gave us a whole loaf for free to take home. That was way beyond what was expected. Then the salads, and soups were great also. I had a regular old hamburger with cheese, however, It was the BEST hamburger I have ever eaten. I had it gone in to time. My girlfriend had a meatloaf sandwich, absolutely perfect. Our friend had a hamburger with cheese as well and he also said it was the best burger he had ever eaten. I don?t remember what his wife had but she said it was great. For desert we had chocolate cheesecake. It was amazing as well, not to rich, just right. When the check came out it had with it four dark chocolate dipped strawberries. It was a great ending to an amazing dining experience. There is also a screened in dining patio with water fountain, it is big enough for a wedding reception or birthday party. I read other people reviews that said there was no corking fee, however as of when I went 3-17-08 there was a $5.00 corking fee. This is a must try. Pros: Something Different, GREAT food. Cons: Could use some background music more

mpm45's review is just sour grapes! 2/29/2008

Eden has the best homemade food on lovers lane. Also look them up on the Health Inspections web site : they have always made in the mid 90's on their inspections. I believe that mpm45 is from Tart Bakery ; trying to cause trouble for the folks at Eden, their competition. (Really no competition really : Eden is much better, hands down.) mpm45 rates 6 places in one day on citysearch and only dissed the best one. Why? Sounds like a personal problem mpm45 has. Notice how they do not say what was actually wrong? Try Eden for yourself. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED! Pros: Food, atmosphere, prices, service and newspaper reviews: all great!!!!!!!!! Cons: I'll write again if I ever think of one! more

BEST FIND, BEST FOOD!!!! 9/9/2007

I found this place on CitySearch and decided to stop in after reading the reviews. I discovered that everything everyone wrote couldn't be more true!!!!!! The baked brie melts in your mouth, the Mexican corn chowder was so tasty - both sweet and spicy at the same time and the the sage burger is by far the best burger I have EVER had! The flavors are so unique and distinct, and to make things even better, I was able to bring my favorite wine, with no corking fee! The prices are beyond reasonable. Eating at Eden is a unique culinary experience. Pros: ALL THE GREAT FOOD more

Rare Find 6/11/2007

Four of us dined at Eden Cafe on Saturday evening, June 9. Eden Cafe is a rare find in restaurants - good selection (not 500 choices to which no kitchen can do justice), very good service, a chef (Karen Kahn) who obviously cares greatly about her fare, wonderful desserts after the wonderful main courses, yet unassuming. Pros: Simply excellent more

Gourmet food on a limited budget! 12/8/2005

My wife and I have dined at Eden Cafe on West Lovers Lane (right across from Celebration! Restaurant) several times. Each time the food has been excellent, the service has been outstanding, and the prices have been very reasonable. Located in a small cottage with a simple sign out front, Eden is easy to overlook, but it's worth the search. Since it has been open only a few months and has not advertised much, it is a real find that has not been discovered by most diners. Menu items run from full dinners to sandwiches and quiche, all of which are served with fresh-baked bread and a free salad or soup. Don't miss this one! Pros: Excellent food, Outstanding Chef, Great prices Cons: Hard to find more
