Editorial review from Citysearch 7/3/2013

I wish I had read these reviews before taking our coach here for repairs. I can echo most of the comments about this place. Run, don't walk away from this place. They operate under a couple different names, which should give you a clue - Long Island RV Center, Absolute Motors at at least one other. \r \r Work is not completed on time and don't return phone calls or emails inquiring about status. When you do get a hold of them it is a recurring song and dance to get information. Simple jobs become major headaches. \r \r It's amazing this place is still in business.\r \r Update: Make sure you check, double check and triple check your final bill so you don't get charged for things not done or wrong parts. more

RUN, don't walk away from this place. I 6/1/2012

RUN, don't walk away from this place. I got an eye popping, jaw dropping estimate for a rather simple job. Apparently, they work up estimates using the ""book hours"" instead of actual hours. So the labor is sky high. I could have bought 2 used trailers for the estimate I got to repair the one I have, They told me I had to purchase material, and pay big bucks for shipping, for common things I know they already had on hand. Just another way they screw you. And if you dare question the bill that is way over the estimate, they won't release your trailer and will charge you $200.00 a DAY for storage till you pay up. What does that say about them ? I can't recall a worse customer expierence. If I could, I would rate with 0 stars. more

TOTAL RIP OFF 10/2/2011

Service totally sucks. When they finally got around to looking at my rv, the summer was over. They overcharged me and didnt even repair it correctly. Dont even think about trading in a decent rv there either. They promised me one price, then renigged after I already purchased the new one, to less than half of what they promised.\r Delt with them four times. Horrible every time. Never again.\r I wish I had bought from Grand Am again. The guy, Jim was so much more honest. These guy flat out lie to your face. more

Crooks; the worst around. 8/2/2011

When I left LIRV (Eddie's), I told them I would be doing this. The police even warned me not to leave my RV there. I'll get to that part in a bit.\r \r Any Long Island RV enthusiasts, like myself, will quickly realize when you need anything RV related, its comes down to picking the least scammy / grimey place around. Thats how I ended up giving LIRV a shot, I was mildly disappointed with Don's on 112. Well, Don's my man again. \r \r I wanted to get a quote for some basic work on my old Itasca, which I love! My awning needed fabric and my hot water tank leaked. So, I talked about it with them. The sales lady yess me to death and told me how there was no charge for the estimate. Thats why I had them look at it, because they specifically told me that. And, I read the contract and made sure I wasn't going to get screwed. I didn't even sign the part about the mechanics lease. I was careful and it said 'request estimate'.\r \r The appointment they gave me was for 1 month away - bummer! I did take it. The date passed, weeks passed. I called, I almost gave up after a month PAST the date they were going to look at it had passed. Then, the call - they had prepared the estimate.\r \r I should have known, it was bull. Lines drawn everywhere, notes over notes with numbers crossed out and bigger numbers written over other numbers. They told me nothing could be fixed, everything had to be completely replaced, and would cost $2000 - $1000 for the awning, $1000 for the water tank. \r \r I politely declined. Then they tell me its going to cost about $180 for the estimate. The same lady who told me there would be no charge now told me they are charging me 2 hours of labor to tell me what I already knew! I refused to pay. They withheld my RV. I talked to the police and they came down. The owner is such a jerk. I actually followed thru and filed a complaint against him. He wouldnt fold even as I scared off everyone coming in to shop by telling them what was happening. \r \r The police wouldnt force him to release the vehicle even though I hadn't signed the mechanics lease portion because it wasn't relevant. I filed the complaint. The cop, as the sun was going down, told me that if it went to court the vehicle would be here the whole time and the jerk would be charging me $200 a day for storage, which I would have to pay even if I won, then take them to court again for that money. He also told me I should expect a broken windshield at the least when I come to pick it up.\r \r So at the police officer's suggestion, I talked to the slime ball one more time. I gave that crook $60 bucks, all I had on me, and he released my vehicle.\r \r I later found out that Eddy has been charged with theft already and thays why the place is LIRV now. I hope they all go to hell. Don't be fooled by the size or initial appearance of this place. They are crooks and its the worst place in NY for RV stuff. more

VERY HAPPY CAMPER!!! 9/17/2010

I recently bought my Zinger from LIRV and I can tell you that they are awesome to work with. My wife spent over 20 hours with their patient sales manager Frank, and Shaun (owner) was as pleasant as could be. \r \r After our first trip we noticed some small problems with the camper and told LIRV about it immediately - they fixed it at no cost (covered under warranty) and had it back to us within 6 days (before our next scheduled camping trip).\r \r I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is serious about good prices and great service.\r \r more
