Worst

I've never had a restaurant throw the side of bread in a plastic bag loose with my delivery order- i would expect it to be wrapped in foil or something- really seems liek they don...

a great place to carbo load 8/15/2003

the servings are huge and the pasta is very good. the place is bare minimum. i guess that could be part of the charm. although the prices are a bit on the high side for the setting. you can bring your own wine and there's no corkage fee, which is cool. our server was very friendly and the rest of the staff was right there with everything. more

YUMMY to go! 8/14/2002

I love Pizza, pasta, salad, you name it - at Alejo's it is all good! I especially love the bread and garlic they give with every meal! I like to take mine to go, because it doesn't have a lot of setting room and isn't very intimate. more

you choose the wine 8/9/2002

everything about this place is perfect. when you're in the mood for a hearty italian, and feeling all warm and bubbly inside, and you want to share that bubbliness with the stranger next to you, alejo's is the ideal place. the bread full of body, insisting that i lather garlic infused olive oil chunks all over it before stuffing it in my face. the red spicy sauce is perfectly balanced, again, with garlic and just enough punch to leave a moment of heat in your mouth. the food is wonderful, and so soothing. the service is sincere with the servers-acting-as-hosts-acting-as-bussers reminding you that they know you are there and are trying to get you seated. the place is great! i love it. i do... oh, don't forget the wine--of your choice. more

Garlic lovers paradise 7/24/2002

Well worth the wait in cramped quarters. Any place that smells that good when you come in has to have great food. You'll be so full you're ready to explode and happy as pie nonetheless! more

Shrimp Fra Diavlo 6/21/2002

The shrimp fra diavlo here is excellent. Don't forget to bring your own bottle of wine (no cork fees). If you forget, there's a 7-Eleven next door that carries wine. The bread with olive oil and garlic are so good that you'll smell like garlic for over a day. Though it's not the prettiest place, the service and the food totally make up for it. Pros: Pasta, No cork fee, Service more

Great food 6/13/2002

This is one of those ""hole in the walls"" that really make you appreciate holes in walls. Their shrimp dishes are delicious. I highly recommend the Chicken Marsala, their bread and garlic and oil dip are the best. Go and take it for a test drive, you won't regret it. Pros: great food, can bring wine more

Vampires Need Not Indulge 5/16/2002

The food is so good they could get away with charging substantially more money for it. Of course, they'd have to move to a different location because the decor is nothing special. Though their pastas are amazing -- especially the raviolis -- non-carbohydrate heavy options ala chicken entrees are also available. Much is made of their pink sauce (a pairing of marinara and cream), but I much prefer the pesto. Between the content of this heavenly green creation and the garlic-laden olive oil for bread dipping, those who are sensitive to garlic should buy a bottle of niacin and head for the nearest sauna after dinner. There is so much of the stinking rose in the food that one night I was convinced it had hallucinogenic qualities. Bring your own wine. There's a 7-11 next door if you forget to stop at the store before you get there. Pros: excellent food, lots of garlic, very inexpensive Cons: limited seating, lots of garlic, long waits for dinner more
