When we had a HUGE maple limb smash onto our roof and deck at 11 pm, it was terrifying because we couldn't tell the extent of the damage. At first daylight, I went out and inspected and couldn't believe what I saw! After the first call to the insurance company, they said "call a tree company." I called 3 or 4 that morning, but Eastside Tree was there WITHIN 2 HOURS. They were compassionate on the phone (I was still shook up) and I couldn't believe the speed of service, as we were not the only ones with tree damage. They brought a cherry picker and a crew and worked hard and fast to relieve tree weight on my deck (they saved my deck, yay!) and inspected the roof. They tarped the roof thoroughly to prevent leaks until a roofer could take care of that damage. Their clean up was great, considering there was twisted metal, broken glass, branches and limbs everywhere. They came back a few days later to cut the logs up for me and stack them. When disaster strikes, these are the guys to call. I am very grateful. more

Our company has used Matt and Eastside a few times. I set up an appointment for some city approved work, Matt showed up on time for the appointment and told me he could get the work done within 2 weeks. Eastside Tree Works did a great job on the trees on my property. I liked having an experienced arborist come and discuss with me my options for some of my larger trees. Estimates were good and the work was done several days (ahead of schedule) after giving the go-ahead. Crew was quick and polite and I don't have any complaints. I would recommend them to anyone needing some professional tree work done. more

We had a big old madrone fall recently. The arborist was scheduled a few days after our call, and the work was done shortly after. The crew arrived as promised, did the work, on time and as promised. I docked them one star because--in retrospect--it was pricey (tree was cut and moved on site; no big equipment necessary, no hauling, not a lot of time, etc.). We'd use them again; way more professional than another firm we used five years ago. more

The arborist who made the initial estimate was very knowledgeable and a kind person. He said that Eastside would not be the cheapest, but in fact it was. The four guys who did the pruning did an excellent job with great suggestions on what would look best. They cleaned up afterwards, and I only have good things to say about them! more

These guys are solid and have the experience to make quick professional work of your tree dilemmas. They took out four troublesome trees for me in just a few hours and left me excellent firewood rings for splitting. They may not be inexpensive but they provide the value. more

The crew arrived on time, were very polite and cleaned up what mess comes with taking down 2 big trees and trimming 3 more. The estimate was on point and the invoice was easy to read - same line items as the estimate, so there were no surprises on the bill. Very professional from my first contact to the last. Loved that the crew liked each other and looked like they were having fun too! more

This is not a 'family business.' The 'arborist' has not certification on file with the certifying organization in our area. They were great before work began and my husband wanted to go ahead. They did less than half the contracted work and we've not heard back since 1/7/13, now Jan 28. They dropped a tree on a rhododendron that is over 25 years old that was a hummingbird habitat we have been fostering for years. This rhododendron also provided privacy for our deck. Now half of it is gone, along with the hummingbirds, who were in mating season. We see fewer baby hummers than we expected to see this time of year. One of the tree cutters fell out of a tree, and the paramedics came. He ended up in Harborview with broken ribs and other injuries. A few days after this debacle, some wood gatherers came unannounced on three separate visits. We really did not like that as we have young adult daughters and did not like that our address was given out freely and we had these men coming into our private back yard with no notice. As it happened, we were home. We have had not one phone call or email to set up a completion date, just a bill. We have branches that are posing a danger to our house. We are looking into how to get out of the remainder of the contract, since it appears EastsideTreeWorks has abandoned this contract. This is no family run business. Look carefully at the contract if you consider them. Here is a copy/paste of the exact contract terms. "Eligibility requires flexibility on scheduling your project, when we are able to combine your project with others in your geographical area. We will leave voicemail/email if unable to reach you in person, with your scheduled date and a rough time for arrival. Due to the nature of tree work, scheduling is subject to change, and exact arrival times are tentative. Homeowner being present is not required." They obviously have their legal part covered and can show up anytime, a month or year from now.... more

Prompt both in our initial consultation, and the crew's response. We had some serious concerns with several maples, and one fir. They gave us a great quote, performed a flawless job of removing and pruning our trees, and left our yard and landscape looking better than when they arrived! Couldnt be happier, these guys are the real deal. more

Good: Excellent pruning work, knowledgeable, great customer service, great cleanup, all around very happy. Bad: Took a little bit of time to do grinding on one stump, but only because of the access. Did not return phone calls when we finally contacted them through the salesman and arranged a pruning two weeks out they never showed and they never so much as called -- definitely a Mickey Mouse operation. more

The arborist who came out to give us an estimate was great - very knowledgeable, took his time explaining tree care, pointing out things to look for. He gave us an estimate right away which was very reasonable, so we agreed to have the work done before he'd even left. After that, things went downhill quickly. First, the company refuses to give you any warning as to when the crew will actually show up to do the work. When they finally came, they only did 3/4 of the work and then the owner called and tried to tell me it wasn't in their financial best interest to come back out to finish the job. After several backs and forths, the owner told us that it wouldn't be worth them coming out again for less than an additional $500. We were left with a job only 3/4 completed and now have to find another company to finish it. The communication issues with this company were just terrible. We will not use them again and I would never recommend them to anyone. Please find a more customer-service oriented company to use! more

When I called Matt, a tree had fallen through my roof into the uppstairs of my house. He was able to get his crew on my property within hours, and had the tree removed by crane within a day or two. He suggested a construction company to provide structural repairs, and they too turned out to provide a work product that exceeded expectations. I can't thank Matt enough for his handling of my problems professionally and with urgency. I would recommend them without hesitation for tree work. more

These guys were the best! Chad who came to do the bid was so great. He worked with us when a neighbor claimed a tree we wanted cut was on his property (which blocks our view) instead of ours (as we understood it). Chad gave a quote and offered to stand by it for two years until our dispute with our neighbor could be resolved. They came to cut the very next day, did it quicly and skillyfully, cleaned up and took the stumps away within a week. Chad was willing to ask another neighbor if they were interested in sharing the cost to cut a few more trees which blocked their view. They ended up hiring them to cut some trees in their yard. They guys on the crew were the nicest you could find! They blew some of the chipped branches from their chipper onto our property for bark as they worked and left a pile of bark for us which we needed. I can't recommend these guys high enough and would definitely use them again. They were very competitive in their pricing and worked with me to stay within my budget. They were able to price very competitively because they were already in my neighborhood and needed to fill up their time slots. I never thought I would get such great service from a company that found me just by knocking on my door because they were working in my neighborhood. more

They did great work for my me and my yard! One dead tree and a dangerous poplar above my house removed and cleaned up in a day, along with several prunings to my plum trees. I didnt know my plum trees could look so nice! Highly reccommended more
