It sounds like people used to really like this restaurant for great and unique food. It's been a few months since it had a review, and I really hope that they can regain the glory days. We went in and had a pretty good variety of what they offered. Nothing was particularly fun or good to be honest, I had the appetizer sampler for two, and while the amount of food was good, only one or two items really stood out, and that was because they weren't bad, as opposed to being good. It was supposed to contain a cheese item that has some sort of spread between the layers of cheese.. only it was some sort of kraft cheese slices as opposed to real cheese.. mmm.. nothing better than a big mouthful of kraft cheese, it was disappointing to say the least. The seafood spread was interesting (a part of the sampler), but had no real personality to speak of, it was very non offensive, there was something gray that kind of reminded me of hummus that you buy from the store, and the feta cheese was sliced off of blocks that you buy at the store.. such wow factor. I also had the tripe soup, which my wife found disgusting, while I enjoyed eating the tripe, the soup was basically like poorly seasoned milk, and didn't really have anything going on. They gave us bread rolls.. cold and probably from HEB. The goulash was okay, but nothing special. I wonder if we were to go back if we could find something truly unique and exciting, but out of 4 people, no one was interested in giving it a second chance. Bottom line, don't waste your time if you're looking for good food, but if you think it sounds like fun.. well, it's not. The coolest thing about it were the salt and pepper dispensers, they were little scoops, which was neat, but unfortunately every single thing needed salt added to have some sort of flavor, so they got old. I was really hoping for something neat and ethnic, and I got subpar home cooking. The best part was the price, it's not very expensive, but it shouldn't be.
