Just wanted to say after suffering for 20 plus years with a double deviated septum and prior surgeries, Dr William Portnoy was a miracle worker to me! I had my surgery on July 25th and since then I have started breathing freely from my nose for the first time in years and I haven't felt this good in years. I had a freak accident and wound up with a 4 inch long/3 inch wide gash on my forehead above my left eyebrow. Although I was treated at Methodist Hospital ER -- they didn't get a plastic surgeon and the resident who sewed me up was less than qualified. I immediately started searching for a facial reconstructive plastic surgeon. I am so THRILLED my research led me to Dr. William Portnoy! First of all Jacob in reception made sure I saw Dr. P the following day -- even though he knew it was probably too soon to remove the stitches. Dr. P is FANTASTIC. He told me it was too soon and asked me to return on Thursday. Once the stitches were out Dr. P and I recognized immediately the ER doctor hadn't properly closed the wound. Additionally he mismatched the skin so the whole thing lookes raised, swollen and hideous! Dr. Portnoy explained what he was going to have to do in order to ""revise"" the scar. Although Dr. Portnoy accepts Oxford -- this procedure was cosmetic and my insurance wouldn't cover. Dr. Portnoy quoted me the best and fairest price (considering what he had to do!). He did the revision in his office under local anesthesia. Wow, is he an impressive surgeon. Thorough, painstaking, great little tiny stitches! He had to put in 3 layers of stitches to properly close this wound. I could see IMMEDIATELY how much flatter, more even and BEAUTIFUL the newly stitched wound looked! No swelling, no raw skin visible and once again those fine, tiny, tiny stitches -- Dr. P could be the world's best sewer ever! I will post a picture of the final result which I am certain will be perfect! Everyone in Dr. Portnoy's office was incredibly friendly, professional and genuinely interested in fixing my face! What a fabulous team to have in my corner. Clearly, everyone who works with Dr. Portnoy realize what an amazing surgeon he is and they all bring their A++++ game everyday! I am so pleased to have such a good outcome from my freakish, disfiguring accident. Dr. Portnoy is the real deal -- he is a ""reconstructive plastice surgeon"". He knows what he is doing, explains everything and lets you know what to expect. Even before the stitches are out and the wound is healed I am confident I'm going to look great. The difference was apparent the moment he was finished revising my scar. What a difference being stitched up by a trained, thorough and excellent plastic surgeon is -- and I found Dr. P on my own!!! Doctor Portnoy is, first of all, an extremely personable doctor who has always put me at ease by being friendly, direct and confident. I'd gone to him over the years for ear and throat issues. When I saw him last summer about something I had on my lip he dealt with it and then, in talking afterwards, inquired as to whether I had ever considered facial filler. I have some minor facial wasting from HIV medications and actually had considered it but was unsure whom to go to for something like this. I mean, this is something you want to be able to really trust the doctor with. I had no idea that he'd been doing cosmetic surgery but he said that he'd started working with Sculptra, a new filler being used especially for HIV patients, and asked if I would be willing to try it. Well, painful as it is, it was absolutely worth it! Doctor Portnoy is a master!! It took 6 sessions- the standard for Sculptra- but he did such an incredible job that people don't know that I have ""done"" anything. They do, however, keep telling me that I look great and ask if I've been on vacation. The great thing about Sculptra is that it stimulates your own collagen and keeps looking better and better. It is said to last up to two years. If you have ever considered this procedure, then Doctor Portnoy is the man!! The rest of the staff are really terrific. Ginette, his assistant, and Jake, the office manager, really make you feel at home and nothing here is impersonal. more

Dr. William Portnoy, located in a beautiful space is Chelsea has been my Dr. for the past fifteen years. He is extremely knowledgeable, has an awesome bedside manner, and has become one of downtown's best facial plastic surgeons. His expertise in cosmetic surgery has allowed me to look as energetic and youthful as I feel. He is thorough and patient, from start to finish. He spent a lot of time during my consultation and just as much time in performing my much needed cosmetic surgery, as well as each follow-up visit. His staff is friendly and seems to know everybody that passes through the office. I highly recommended Dr. Portnoy, for general ENT exams, and all types of plastic and cosmetic surgery. more

Initially I met with Dr. Portnoy with complaints of severe dizziness (BPPV) which was treated in one session at his office- it was like a miracle! It wasn't until my follow up consult that I discovered that Dr. Portnoy is also Board Certified in Facial Plastic Surgery. I had been contemplating having cosmetic surgery on my upper and lower lids for several years. So, to say the least, I was very happy to know that someone who I trust and felt comfortable with was more than qualified to perform this procedure on me. As a registered nurse, being in the medical field has always made me very reluctant to undergo elective surgery. However, Dr. Portnoy explained in explicit detail what would be involved before and after the surgery making me feel more at ease. I went forward with the procedure and must say the first week was somewhat uncomfortable but I was afforded relief with pain medication. Once I saw the Doctor a week later and the stitches were removed, the swelling began to resolve and things became more and more satisfying. The minor bruising around my eyes was easily covered with make-up and, as Dr. Portnoy explained, would gradually disappear. Not only are the fat bags and excess skin around my eyes gone, but my eyelids are once again smooth and applying eye makeup has become so much easier. It's been 6 months since my surgery and I so often receive compliments . Those that have known me for years see a tremendous difference and point out how refreshed and youthful I appear. In short, I would say I am completely satisfied and thrilled that I went forward with the surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Portnoy's expert skills to anyone seeking cosmetic surgery of the face. more

Dr. Portnoy performed a septoplasty to correct my severely deviated septum. At one stroke my daily morning headaches, clogged sinuses and breathing problems were corrected!!! The procedure was performed just as he explained it to me with little pain afterwards and a rapid recovery. Every morning for months I woke up headache-free, breathing deeply, saying to myself: Thank you, Dr. Portnoy!!! His staff is amazing: friendly, efficient and professional. Having at least five doctors in my family, I am the sort of high-maintenance girl who will ask a new doctor about 500 questions. Dr. Portnoy will patiently and thoroughly answer all of your questions about everything and then impress the hell of out of you with great results. I had my very first botox injection and surgical removal of a mole on my face. I am so happy with the results,I have referred two more friends. The staff is amazing, professional and friendly. I am a Vascular surgeon that required extremely complex nasal reconstruction. Dr. Portnoy performed the operation with success that few in the country could have delivered. His skills as a reconstructive surgeon are beyond most words. Suffice it to say that I would highly recommended him as I have to my wife who desires but mere facial filler injections. Being a surgeon myself, I know that Dr. Portnoy is more qualified than the far majority if not all dermatologists to perform all procedures for he has not just studied the underlying structures but has literally been there countless times. I personally know many dermatologist of the highest positions in their field but I must say a dermatologist, as well as they may be trained, has not been to the areas physically as a surgeon has been. I trust Dr. Portnoy to perform any facial procedure, deep or superficial, due to his knowledge and experience. Lastly, as proven by his extremely difficult and complicated procedure upon me he has something that can never be taught but only developed, extreme TALENT. I went to Dr. Portnoy to have my deviated septum fixed, as well as a rhinoplasty. My experience working with him was extremely positive - beginning to end. Dr. Portnoy and his staff were thorough, thoughtful, and attentive from my first visit, through all visits leading up to surgery, and follow up visits afterward. I was skeptical too. Ok, so here's the deal. You're thinking about Botox, but you're worried you'll look like a freak or spend all your money and not be happy with the result. I know, I get it. That's why you simply have to go to Dr. Portnoy. He is an artist as much as he is a physician. First of all, the goal is for you to look NATURAL, as in movement but no lines. And he's very sensitive to making sure he gets just the right result. So you go, you get the treatment, and then you come back a couple weeks later to see how it's doing (he's never charged me for the follow up). Secondly, you're worried that you'll get ""sold"" a bunch of stuff you don't need. Couldn't be farther from the truth with Dr. Portnoy. He's about creating a relationship with you (SUCH a nice guy). Every time I go in, I feel that he genuinely cares about me, my life and how my face helps me do what I do each day. Just a joy to spend time with. And believe me when I tell you that I've been to other MDs who supposedly offer the latest and greatest, and it's NOT the same experience as Dr. Portnoy. Those other guys were constantly trying to sell me on something. I felt like I was in an infomercial. So bottom line: best results, best price, and with an MD you will KNOW really cares. I went to Dr. Portnoy after doing a lot of research on NYC doctors who did fillers and injectables. He was so honest and actually didn't want to give me too much and he was right! My face looks so natural and so many people have asked me what I am using on my skin and I say it must be my summer tan. Not only does it look great but it really didn't hurt very much at all. I would tell anyone looking for any injectable to go to Dr. Portnoy. He definitely has the touch! I will definitley be back in a few months. more
