Dr. Ron's Animal Hospital

It is very sad when a client and/or agent of a client makes their own assessment and declines the recommendations\r given. It is also deplorable when someone "in the medical field" does this who should know better.\r The pet suffers and then when the pet doesn't do well the client has to blame someone other than themselves.\r Pets hit by a car should always have xrays taken and be treated for shock -- but some irresponsible people decline this and there is nothing we can do when this happens. We always hope for a good outcome, but sometimes this doesn't occur.\r It is unfortunate that some people are making decisions based upon cost - but these are tough times. Please if you decline\r treatment and tests do not try and blame the doctor. more

First of all im shocked to hear any of this nonsense.\r I have been to Dr Rons many times under many differant circumstances,i have always been treated with respect and had top shelf service,always.\r Dr Ron has helped my dog Jody out of many situations and always worked hard to keep me calm and ok during these times... That said, when our newly adopted, 6 lb, scruffy, stray dog began seizing after eating snail poison we knew he was going to DIE if he did not get the best emergency attention immediately. It was 10pm, and our only option-we thought- was to go to a 24 hour animal hospital that we had prior experience with and were not impressed with. Our neighbor offered to call Dr Ron Resnick -of Dr Ron?s animal Hospital in Simi Valley. He was planning to open a 24 hour hospital in the near future, and so we agreed to impose on him at home, as he is also our regular vet. Upon hearing our dog?s symptoms he simply said ? Upon hearing our dog’s symptoms he simply said “ meet me at the hospital now” and with in 5 minutes he was there, in tennis clothes -unlocking the office, turning on lights and single-handedly beginning full resuscitation efforts on our beloved pet. My husband, children and I witnessed a true expert at work- This Dr knew his business and carried it out right in front of us! ( Many Doctors will NEVER let themselves be watched under stressful situations- and with myself and my children sobbing, I give him extra points for staying cool!!) My husband and I both have decades of experience working with emergency room doctors, and know a good one when we see one! Due to Dr Ron’s expert emergency care our little guy did survive...and is a healthy thriving member of our family today! I have read the negative reviews of Dr Ron’s animal hospital and I will only suggest that a pet owner “consider the source” of the reviews- Does the writer seem like a disgruntled person who has problems paying bills? Or somebody who gets annoyed with staff? Or does the reviewer seem to have credibility, and be speaking about the skill of the doctor. Personally, I don’t need my vet to be my friend, I just want him to be excellent at taking care of my animals in a crisis situation- and Dr Ron demonstrated that to us clearly. more

Dr. Rons moved to 1376 Erringer Rd - further south on Erringer Rd. They have a state-of-the art hospital including digital xrays and in-house laboratory. Laser surgery is also offered.\r Dr. Rons has emergency hours during the week until midnight.\r Dr. Ron's is also open on Saturdays and Sundays - for more reasonable "off - hour" veterinary care. more

Hey Dr. Ron - I finally paid off that collection you had put on my credit report for an alleged missed appointment. You remember it don't you? Your rude and unprofessional staff attempted to extort me for more money after they refused to accept my dog for her surgical appointment. Well, I am more than happy to say that I have convinced 100 people to not go to you! ONE HUNDRED! Do you realize how much revenue you lost?! That was my goal, once I convinced 100 folks to see a REPUTABLE vet, then I would pay off my so called ""missed appt. fee"". The money I have cost you in additional paperwork and loss of business was well worth it. I think just for the hell of it I will continue my crusade to keep good people and their animals from having to experience your unethical office and having to deal with your questionable business practices. I have tried 3 different vets in Simi Valley before going to Dr Ron's. In my opinion he is one of the best in the city. His prices are reasonable and his care has been exceptional. His staff is ALWAYS pleasant and professional. One of my dogs often has health issues and several times I have called to get him in right away and I have never been turned down, they have always fit us in even though they have a very tight schedule. I also love that he offers a low cost vaccination clinic at the local pet store and all the records go directly to his office, this saves me money not having to pay a office visit. I highly recommend Dr Ron and his staff. more

Dr. Ron's came recommended by my neighbor after we had a couple of bad experiences at another local vet. When I first saw all of the negative comments, I was hesitant. However, we have now gone to Dr. Ron's multiple times and have received good service and fair pricing. After many trips to Dr. Ron's, I feel comfortable recommending them. more

We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and we do not hesitate to take our animals to Dr. Ron. Recently our oldest dog (2 years) had a seizure on a Friday night, I took her to the animal hospital in Thousand Oaks and after hearing the prognosis from Doogie Howser I decided to bring my dog home and take her to Dr. Rons the next morning. After his examination and diagnosis we left the office much more assured of her situation. I found his care very experienced and compassionate. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. I get costs up front so that there are no surprises when I pay. Our animals will continue to see Dr. Ron forever. more

Dr. Ron and his staff are very professional. Sounds like most the negative comments have come from people who have failed to pay their bills or expected free service (and it's obvious that they're most likely coming from rescue groups), and /or didn't ask enough questions. The mistake some of them have made is that they have failed to get all the information upfront. Of course, medical care for your pets is expensive, no matter where you go. I suggest you do your homework first and ask questions before leaving your pet with any vet. If you don't like the answer, you have choices. Just use another vet and get on with your lives. Quit making yourselves miserable and quit trying to make others feel the same. Life is too short. Personally, I've had excellent results over the years using Dr. Ron and I'd highly recommend him and his hospital to my friends. more

Dr. Ron is an incredible doctor. We have taken our animals to him for years now and I don't know of a more knowledgeable, kind, compassionate vet in Simi Valley. When our rabbit wasn't feeling well, he spent an inordinate amount of time with her, prescribed medication and called the next day to see how she was feeling! When you bring your animal to Dr. Ron, it's as if your pet is the only one that exists. I have referred and will continue to refer friends and family to Dr. Ron. I was employed in the animal health care industry for 13 years. I loved the time I spent working in a small and exotic animal hospital. I can recognize a good or bad vet a mile away. I used to live in Simi Valley, but am now over 50 miles away. There are MANY vets in my area. So, last week when my most beloved cat, Max, was near the end of his life, it was a no-brainer for me to make the trip to Dr. Ron's. Dr. Ron is a brilliant doctor and a compassionate human being. I have known him for over 10 years and consider myself (and more so my pets) extremely lucky to have him as my vet. more

Dr, Ron is the greatest. He donates his time to so many great causes within SV. He is in numerous organizations, making SV a great community. He donated the most incredible Shihtzu,that we bought at a live auction for the SVEFB. For the last two yrs, he has taken care of Bentley and never charged us any money.I have referred many people To Dr. Ron, who are struggling in today's time, and Dr Ron finds ways for people to afford surgeries for their pets.Without Dr. Ron, their would be hundred's of pets who would not be getting the proper care that they deserve.Simi Valley is completely grateful for Dr. Ron's care.Thanking You Dr Ron,\r Herschel B more

Dr Ron's is horrible. I take 6 animals to them and my cat got sick and had a fever of 104 and blisters in her mouth and tongue. $565 later they said she had a stone in her bladder and needed surgery. They sent me home with a deathly sick cat that needed over night care, but they don't keep animals over nigh. I call the next morning to talk over options and the Dr Ron is off and he would not call me and they said the Doctor on staff that day was to busy. I tell them that I didn't have the money and needed help financially. (This cat has food allergies and can?t eat anything else but special food.) Since I didn't have the money for the surgery the nurse told me that I can try changing her food. Ya right she has blisters all in her mouth and cat eat or drink. When I make the decision to put her to sleep because they said she would have heart issues after and the stones would come back if the food is not changed. They questioned my decision several times and made me feel like more

They took me to collections for $26.00! They charged me for sending my dogs stool sample to a lab, when CLEARLY she had worms and was given medication for it. I never authorized the fee & they just decided after I left & paid my bill that they would send me a bill afterwards. The collections company dropped it and cleared my name, because I was not wrong. But, I will never go back to them because of that. more

A year ago i had my dog spayed she did fine. They called to check on her the day after. When i called they took the time to answer my questions.Now I'm taking my other dog in to be neutered. I will let you all know how it gos. As for him giving puppies bought from pet stores free shots. If they come from puppy mills they woulds need to have some one care for them who cares about dogs. Not all pet stores get there puppies from puppy mills. more
