Passionate and helful 7/21/2011

About a month ago, we had to put our beloved 13 year old Fred to sleep. It was an agonizing decision and all I can say is that we were treated with dignity and respect at Dr. Ron's. Whoever answers their phone is wonderfully compassionate and helpful. We also were given an estimate of various treatments which we chose not to pursue given that it seemed Fred had numerous health issues and was really suffering. We were impressed with the estimates as they were very reasonable. If Fred were a younger dog, we would have pursued the treatments. We have had the ""shakedown"" experience where we're handed an estimate that's off the charts by another clinic in town. Long story short, we are picking up our new puppy in a week and plan to take her to Dr. Ron's for her care. more

from experience 7/19/2011

First off, both my husband and I deal with the public in heping professions and know from experience that no matter how competent and professional one tries to be, there are always angry people looking to spread hostility-and those are the ones who complain the loudest. Secondly, we are both in the medical profession, and deal with emergencies on a regular basis. That said, when our newly adopted, 6 lb, scruffy, stray dog began seizing after eating snail poison we knew he was going to DIE if he did not get the best emergency attention immediately. It was 10pm, and our only option-we thought- was to go to a 24 hour animal hospital that we had prior experience with and were not impressed with. Our neighbor offered to call Dr Ron Resnick -of Dr Rons animal Hospital in Simi Valley. He was planning to open a 24 hour hospital in the near future, and so we agreed to impose on him at home, as he is also our regular vet. Upon hearing our dogs symptoms he simply said MEET ME AT THE HOSPITAL NOW and with in 5 minutes he was there, in tennis clothes -unlocking the office, turning on lights and single-handedly beginning full resuscitation efforts on our beloved pet. My husband, children and I witnessed a true expert at work- This Dr knew his business and carried it out right in front of us! ( Many Doctors will NEVER let themselves be watched under stressful situations- and with myself and my children sobbing, I give him extra points for staying cool!!) My husband and I both have decades of experience working with emergency room doctors, and know a good one when we see one! Due to Dr Rons expert emergency care our little guy did survive...and is a healthy thriving member of our family today! I have read the negative reviews of Dr Rons animal hospital and I will only suggest that a pet owner consider the source of the reviews- Does the writer seem like a disgruntled person who has problems paying bills? Or somebody who gets annoyed with staff? Or does the reviewer seem to have credibility, and be speaking about the skill of the doctor. Personally, I dont need my vet to be my friend, I just want him to be excellent at taking care of my animals in a crisis situation- and Dr Ron demonstrated that to us clearly. more

terrible ethics 5/25/2011

My family and I have been going to Dr. Ron for YEARS! all this man sees is dollar signs. One of my dogs had an infection that Dr. Ron thought needed surgery immediately(more money that prescribing antibiotics) so he convinced my mother with no medical backround to do the surgery. Well, as soon as he put my poor pup under, she went under cardiac arrest. Dr. Ron KILLED my dog. This man is the worst. We have stopped going to him since this occurred. What kind of doctor does surgery on a severely sick animal? Firrst give antibiotics to control the infection and get the animal strong enough for surgery, THEN perform the surgery! Hes an idiot and shouldnt be allowed to care for animals. more

rude staff 10/12/2010

I went to Dr. Rons because my cat has a fracture and requires surgery when I asked his staff if I had any options as far as payment, since I am not able to afford the cost of the surgery at this time. They replied that I had no option but paying for it cash up front. So I began doing so research and began calling several shelters and my own primary vet. I was given several option including, different Humane societies that may be able to help with the cost as well as Care Credit, which is a Credit card that may pay for the total cost. I called back Dr. Rons staff and was upset because I was not given the Care Credit option to pay for my cats surgery and was told by his office manager that I need to have a Credit score of at least 640 to even apply. The next morning I went to Dr. Ron?s Officer to pick up my cats x-rays and to complain to the officer Manager about the rude costumer services I received the day before and was welcomed by the same rude Office Manager who I spoke to the nig more
