Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort

Wow... we started taking our two dogs for boarding at their high-end resort. The dogs love it so much! We liked them so much that we began taking our dogs there for the vet care! They are so respectful, educational, and compassionate. They recently diagnosed my oldest with a thyroid disease. Since being on medication, he is now acting like a puppy and is losing weight (Thank you Dr. Sands for your support through this process!) We will send everyone there... it is always a wonderful experience. They are ALWAYS clean and professional! Hope my pups live a long healthy life, but I know with the care they receive, their chances are much greater! Thanks Dogwood! See you soon at the pet resort!!! more

We have gone to this vet for several years and need a reliable place to board our dog. But it has gotten to the point where no one in my family wants to be the one to drop off the dog. When checking in there is a laundry list of add-ons. You are made to feel like a "heel" when you say no to extra cuddle time or a nightly pupsicle. I have also noticed during physicals that heartworm and tick medicines were added on my bill without my permission, I had to ask that they be removed. I can get them elsewhere for less. Recently, the dog needed surgery to and while checking in I was asked to add on another surgery that our family considered cosmetic. After calling to state that we did not want the add-on surgery, the Dr. even called me at home one last time to make sure. I felt like I had to say no three times, before I was heard. So while they do strive to provide the best service, you better have a strong backbone or the add-ons will cost you a fortune. more

I am new to the area (about 3 months) and my dog, Max means the world to me and has seen me though a lot difficult times. As soon as I walked through the door, Ivana greeted me with a warm smile. The nurse escorted us to the exam room, sat with us to find out my concerns and offered me coffee or tea!! Dr. Pineda was so great because she took the time to explain to me what was going on with Sampson and allowed ME to make an educated decision. I don't recall ever having any vet take the time she did in helping me try to understand what was going on and what she recommended and WHY. It made me feel important. I will be recommending others to the hospital!! And by the way, the tour was great... nice resort!! more

Love Dr. Sands at Dogwood Vet. After moving half an hour away from Chapel Hill, I still take my dogs here because of the quality care they receive. I believe you get what you pay for, and would never take my dogs to a doctor based on price alone. Everything at Dogwood is clean, modern, and state of the art. I visited other vets before coming here and none compare. If you are looking for a top rate facility, then this is your place. more

I took my dog here bc he was limping and they tried to talk me into a teeth cleaning for $$$. He left still limping and I took him to another vet who helped his leg problem and told that his teeth do not need to be cleaned. This place is very expensive and the waiting room is empty as well as the parking lot when I drive by- now i know why. more

I was only there once. Lots of area wasted on making it a "show place". Boarding facilities are very clean but there were lots of places my little dogs could have either gotten out or gotten hurt. The staff gave me the feeling that i was bothering them and the vet would not sell me a Science Diet cat food without giving my pet a physical first. The cat had been on the food for years and my vet was just out of the food. They would not even call my vet for approval. Not the place for my animals more
