I must say that I have used this service for over 6 years without having a single complaint. They are the best and really care about the dogs that they walk. As an example, a few years ago my wife and I had to, rather unexpectedly, travel to Europe for a family matter. We called Doggie Do Gooders and explained the situation and asked if instead of our dog's normal one walk per day we could have four (he hates to be boarded). They said yes, but their agreeing is not the important aspect of this, a couple days in to our absence our dog stopped eating, normally we leave meat to be mixed in with his food, but due to the rush we had forgotten to do so. Doggie Do Gooders went and bought turkey and ham from a local deli and each day mixed it into our dog's food twice a day so he would eat. We are forever in there debt for what they did for the dog we treat as a son. They really are the best and if you're using anyone else you are doing your dog a disservice. more

I was referred to Doggie Do gooders by a neighbor. I have 2 cats and a boxer that I had rescued about a year ago who needs special attention. I use this service and find the owners to be very caring of my pets (as if they were their own) and this is very important to me. I think their rates are very reasonable and I have only had a good experience. I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

I have to praise and thank Doggie DO Gooders for their incredible service. I was afraid to take a vacation for fear that my pup, Jackson, would not be well taken care of. But that was only until about 2 years ago because I no longer have to worry . I was referred to Doggie DO Gooders by an acquaintance who had used them for over 9 years. Now, I can go away at a moment's notice and can expect quick scheduling, a friendly callback to confirm, and nothing but great care for Jackson. It has been 2 years of reliable and efficient service. I would not use anyone else. Thanks for all you do, DDG! more

While we vacationed elsewhere, our 2 very large dogs vacationed at my elderly parents home. Doggie Do Gooders took excellent care of the dogs, not only providing the necessary walks and feedings, but giving our epileptic lab his heavy duty meds and cleaning up after the dog’s occasional bout of diarrhea. Doggie left daily written reports of the dogs’ activities and even ran an occasional errand for my parents. They were very respectful of the fact that they were taking care of animals in a home where people were present, and tried to make themselves innocuous when entering or leaving, while not scaring my parents. more

We have worked with Doggie Do Gooders for years, and I recommend them without hesitation. The management is attentive and responsive, and the walkers are dependable, friendly and caring. Wonderful company. more

I am not only a client of Doggie Do Gooders but also an employee. I know first hand the kind of expert care they gave my cat, Chloe who is a kidney failure cat, while I was away. One of the care-givers came each day and fed her a special diet, gave her a clean litter box, fresh water and intravenous fluids under her skin once a week. I carefully read the notes they left so that I would know if she exhibited any signs of stress. She was so much happier in her own home with a gentle loving care-giver coming in to take care of her. Later on when I was lucky enough to work for Doggie Do Gooders, I learned first hand how to care for each animal assigned to me that day, how to follow the owner's instructions and I was instructed to leave detailed notes as to the pet's behavior and eating habits. These notes are a very important tool of communication with each pet owner. Each pet was fed, given fresh water, walked if appropriate, area was cleaned and time was spent with each one. Walkers do not just forget a dog from their roster, and if a walker is late it is due to traffic problems. I am appalled at these vicious attacks on a group of people who are dedicated to taking care of animals. Many of us who work at Doggie Do Gooders are in animal rescue and helping animals and taking care of them are all part of our nature. Doggie Do Gooders is a family of animal lovers who are diligent and careful in their care of your pet. I would absolutely recommend Doggie Do Gooders to anyone needing caring pet sitters for their animals. more

I have been using Doggie Dogooders for the past year and they are an amazing company. They are loving, caring and sincerely care for my pet and his well being. They leave me a sweet note for every walk letting me know how it went. I trust them very much and would recommend them to everyone that might need a dog walking service. more

I am a military family and have to move from place to place quite a bit. As such it is hard for me to trust people with my home and my pets. However when I met the gang at Doggie Do Gooders I felt really comfortable with them, and at ease. They did as they promised, showed up on time, and took great care of my dog Sully. Sully got really sick one day, and John cleaned up the whole mess, called me, and waited with Sully until I got home to take him to the Vet! They really make a point of treating everyone like family. I'm perfectly happy to recommend them to anyone looking for a great pet sitting company! more

Response to ""Questionable at Best"" 9/2/2011

I'm compelled to respond to answer this complaint. We worked for her for over 2 years,doing10 jobs for her, contract & calendar dates to prove it.If we were ruthless & incompetent, why did she continue to book us for all these years. On the last booking, she gave us a raise without our asking for one. The raise was given because,""We had always gone to the max to help my very sick cat.""This spontaneous raise came via email & still have that email to prove it.On our last job,she left no instructions on where the meds, where the needles & IV fluid was stored, where the special food was, nothing! She also HID the money for us in the microwave & didn't tell us b/c she claimed to not trust her best friend that was staying in the apartment while she was away.We could not fudge the 2X a day visits b/c 1.her friend was there the whole time and 2.she could tell by the level of the IV fluids how much fluid we gave.Of course if we had wanted to dump the fluids, her friend would have seen us.So her statement is ridiculous at best. I QUIT working for her,she DID NOT fire me. This was after she told us she had put her cat in the hospital for 5 days after she decided to cut back on her pet meds without asking her Vet first, b/c she said ""it was inconvenient to administer the meds to him"".The cat almost died, due to her incompetence. She admitted this to me.This person complains about everything, it is her personality.I did not want to be involved with her anymore.I saved my email to her informing her that we would no longer work for her, this email is saved. Questionable at best 6/8/2011

If this is the same 'doggie do gooder' as the one currently working out of Bayside, Queens, I think they are generally ok if you don't have alot of needs. But if you do have a pet with medical issues, they don't seem to be as skilled as they purport. In addition, any time you question something they did or dind't do they get EXTREMELY defensive and rude. Apparently it's their policy to leave you stupid notes every visit....""i played with kitty....fed kitty ...cleaned litterbox...kitty was happy to see me...etc' Now after I've been away for days or weeks, the LAST thing I wanna do is read thru pages of this crap. All I care to know is ...did my pet get sick...did anything break....anything unusual occur/ Otherwise, I don't need endless notes telling me that you did what I paid you to do, or that you think my kitty is cute! When I one time mentioned this to them they got very defensive and said the notes are to prove they visited each day. (Um duh, I'm not that stupid not to know that people can write notes before/after the fact and put whatever date on them they want! They told me they would NOT tell their sitters not to write these stupid notes for me. In addition, some of their sitters seemed to be 'afraid' to give my pet his meds...they were 'afraid they might hurt him'. Not exactly the sound of 'professional pet sitters.! more

WORST dog walkers!! DO NOT support their business unless you believe in animal cruelty!! 12/2/2008

This is the WORST Dog Sitting company in the entire world. If you love your dog DO NOT allow these ""sitters"" near your pet! I had them walk my two dogs for 2 months and they were supposed to come once a day and walk both dogs together for thirty minutes. They would leave notes saying that they had done so and that everything was going great with my dogs. One day I happened to be home just before the dog sitter arrived, and I observed her come in take one dog out for 3 minutes and the second went out afterwards for 3 steps and was brought back in! I WAS FURIOUS!! Not only were my two dogs not being walked together (like they said they were doing) but they didn't even get a chance to use the restroom outside!! AND on top of that the dog walker was very aggressive towards the dogs, and she was on the phone the entire time! DO NOT EVER CALL THIS COMPANY! They are terrible people with no morals and cold hearts. I talked to them reporting the incident and they said there was nothing they could do, nor were they willing to refund any of the money I have been paying them! Horrible customer service and terrible dog walkers! Hopefully they will be out of business soon, and if they still are around then they should have their name changed to doggie do wrongers! more

Unprofessional! 6/8/2006

Do not trust your pooch to this service. I had only been a client of theirs for less than one month and they missed two appointments! After they missed those appointments to walk my dog, I called and left messages and e-mailed several times. After finally reaching a live person, I mentioned that they had missed appointments and that I had left messages. They never once apologized for their mistake and instead said they were out of town and things got busy. I thought to myself, ""Well, I know life gets busy, but that's not how you run a business."" But I was still polite and was willing to give them one more chance. So as I was trying to work out a new schedule with them, their other line rang, they answered it, and abruptly said they would have to call me back. THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. So obviously they don't want me as a customer. I wrote them a letter asking for them to return my keys and I am STILL waiting for them to mail them. In the age of e-mail and cellphones there is no excuse for this lack of service. If they are so neglectful of the people who pay them (and tip them), then just imagine how unattentive they'll be around your dog. Cons: never return calls or e-mails more
