Questionable Practices 10/22/2011

I have been a client for several years and I have finally reached my limit. The owner is a poor manager; this is my opinion, the opinion of numerous employees of The Dog Spot (past and present), as well as previous clients. The owner creates policies that have no medical basis and I have found her behavior on several occasions to be questionable. I used to recommend this facility and I no longer can. more

Dogs love the Dog Spot! 10/19/2010

I absolutely LOVE the Dog Spot! I work long hours and my 6 month old Jack Russel Terrier mix isn't able to get all of his energy out at home. When I take him for daycare at the Dog Spot, he comes home so tired he can barely stand. The staff is incredibly cheerful, professional, and always willing to help with whatever I need. It is apparent that they love my little puppy almost as much as I do! I'm so glad I found the Dog Spot, and would recommend it to anyone I meet. more

My dog LOVES this place! 11/6/2008

My husband and I have a wonderful, energetic 7 month old lab. Abby has been to the Dog Spot for obedience school, daycare (if we both have to be gone for too long during the day) and boarding. The staff never fails to greet Abby by name - she gets excited when we pull into the lot and nearly drags me through the door. Our spoiled girl loves her friends here - and always comes home happy and ready to rest from playing with her ""buddies."" Contrary to the other reviews, I find the staff there to be engaged, knowledgeable and eager to help. I've accessed the webcams and have seen happy dogs playing with the folks who are watching them. (Just having the ability to peek in on Abs while she's away is great!) I reccommend the Dog Spot to anyone who has a dog and a life, they give you the ability to do it all. I can't imagine what we would do without them to help out - and the training classes are GREAT!!! Pros: Dogs are monitored closely and kept with other dogs of their own size/temperament. more

The Dog Spot 5/5/2008

This place is horriable. Management is unknowledgable about dog behavior and staff doesnt have a clue about dogs. The supervision is horriable and most of the time you can find the staff on their cell phones instead of watching/playing with the dogs. Owner doesnt care about wellbeing of dogs, rather than making profits. Her own dogs are a mess who have attacked other dogs themselves. Their are to many dogs per staff in back thus several dog fights have occured. if you care about your dog KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE DOG SPOT Cons: just awful place more

Poorly Managed Daycare facility 11/24/2007

This facility is understaffed and they have too many dogs all at once for my comfort level. On a 'full' day they have over 50 dogs in the facility and only 1 staff member per every 15 dogs. The staff members often did not know answers to our questions such as, ""Did our dog eat her lunch today?"" or ""How did our dog do during nap time, did she handle being in the crate ok?"" They would often answer, ""I don't know, I'm sure she was fine."" For the amount of money that you pay to go here, which I believe is now about $30 per day of daycare, I would expect that at some point someone would have paid attention to my dog. In our opinion this facility is poorly managed, as the manager does not appear to have a sound business background. I got the feeling that they wanted to make easy money fast and doggie daycare was the way to go. I strongly do not recommend taking your dog here. Pros: Your dog gets to be away from home Cons: There are too many dogs and not enough staff, it appears to be an unsafe situation more

Dog Day Care, Boarding and Grooming 1/20/2007

Dog Spot combines dog day care, boarding and grooming at one location. I boarded my small (spoiled) dog over a weekend. My experience was generally favorable. The small dogs were kept separated from the larger dogs. All dogs were kept most of the day in an indoor fenced area with a concrete floor. They provide a Doggie Web Cam so that you can view your dog during the day. They do not provide any toys while the dogs are in the pens but they do have an attendant on duty at the pen at all times. Every couple of hours, weather permitting, they take the dogs to an outdoor exercise area. In the evening, if you are boarding your dog, they place it in a crate with any toys, treats or pads that you want to provide. My dog ""told' me that she was not happy there. When I watched her on the web cam, she was pacing back and forth for hours. This is not her normal behavior. I believe that since she was placed in a confined space with many dogs she did not know, she felt very uncomfortable. The Dog Spot reported to me that she even snapped at an attendant when he tried to take her outside. This is behavior that I have never seen from her before or after being at the Dog Spot. All in all, the Dog Spot's approach is probably better than a kennel where the dog is crated 100% of the time, but my dog is much happier at home curled up on her silk covered pillow. Pros: Dogs are not crated all day and are separated by size Cons: Fenced in area with concrete floors with nothing to do. more
