I used to love this place when it was up on 22nd & Christian (not a great place to walk to from center city) and was sad when it disappeared. I very happily just realized that it moved to 6th & South! Good food, nice portions, casual comfortable atmosphere, pleasant staff, good service, reasonable prices. We had grape leaves and spinach-cheese rolls for appetizers, and stuffed cabbage and chicken kebabs for entrees. All were excellent. There are many Middle Eastern / Mediterranean restaurants with similar price range and decent quality here in Philly - this one is particularly good, with some of the same types of items (kebabs, grape leaves, etc) but also many different and interesting things. For a good meal of hearty tasty food with a Mediterranean / Turkish flavor and excellent value, I recommend it highly. more

Excellent Service, Delicious Food 11/3/2011

I took 9 clients to divan restaurant for dinner the other week and we had an amazing time. The staff was over the top and the food absolutely delicious. We were able to taste about 6 different types of cold appetizers and different main dishes. They were amazing delicious. All of my guests look forward to the next event at Divan Turkish Kitchen. Thanks again more

Philly's Best Food 11/3/2011

My wife and I have been going to Divan Turkish Restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent. One of my favorite dishes had always been the Iskender kebob. I pleasantly surprised to find out that they are also serving fresh homemade Turkish Dumplings, which actually made this dish even better than other places. I would also highly recommend Divan Turkish Restaurant for lunch. The portions are generous and the selection is great for lunch. \r Liked: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Value more

Good food, horrible service 6/21/2011

I was so looking forward to eating dinner at Divan with friends. I visit their sister location fulya's cafe nearly everyday for coffee and breakfast. I assumed I would have the same great experience at Divan. When we arrived, we were seated in a small room that was not part of the restaurant. The staff continually moved furniture in and out of this room through our entire meal. We were basically the forgotten table and had to continually get up to find our waiter. The food was actually good, but the poor service was a huge retraction. We stood up to get the waiter eight times during our meal. Btw, the restaurant was not crowded and there were empty tables in the main section both when we arrived and when we left. I am very disappointed. Fulya's cafe sets a high standard and divan did not replicate this experience. more

wonderful find off the beaten path 3/20/2011

I was in Philadelphia last week for business and was directed to Divan. It was a little out of the way but was welcomed by smiling faces and fantastic food. The Chicken Shish was outstanding, tender and juicy--and cooked to perfection. This jewel of a place surpassed any Turkish spot I have been to in NYC where I reside. The ambiance is warm and low key- the perfect spot to hit after a long day of business to unwind. First time I drank a Turkish beer on draught as well. At the end of my evening the owner came by to saly hello not just to my table but took time to sit and speak with all the regulars. Very old world and just another reason for me to come back again next time I am in Phila. Who needs cheese steaks:) more

good and fresh 9/12/2010

Went to Divan's for an early supper. It's a little out of the way for Center City but the interior is charming and cozy and the wait staff are welcoming (if a little unpolished). We got stuffed grape leaves and an artichoke appetizer to start -- delicious! Not too filling and not giant sized, very flavorful and FRESH. For entrees, we ordered the spinach dumplings and the lamb shish. You have to try those dumplings -- they are tiny, homemade and very tender, in a light yogurt-dill-garlic sauce. Amazing and would make a great shared appetizer too. The shish was quite good -- five or six tender and large lamb chunks. Would have loved another green garnish on the plate to go with it, though it comes with red onion, rice and some mayo-like sauce on the side. Pita is very thin, Turkish style and just okay. Desserts are mom-style homemade versus haute cuisine spectacular -- LOVED the baklava! They have an extensive wine/drink list and prices are really reasonable. In fact, dinner was really a good value overall and very pleasant. A most decent moderately-priced place. I'll be back! more

False advertisement as BYOB 1/15/2010

Got a menu delivered to my house as an advertisement. Prominently displayed were prices & the word BYOB. When we got there with our bottle, there was a cork fee. At the time I believe it was $15, though maybe less now. You cannot advertise as a BYOB when you have a bar, and charge people for their own brought bottles. Pros: Best Turkish in Philly Cons: Not a BYOB more

VERY accomodating restaurant 1/8/2010

The manager or owner of this place was amazing. My friends and I had been out all day drinking last March, and when we showed up at his restaurant will many, many bottles of wine, he welcomed us with open arms and accomodated all of our requests. We were able to be loud and enjoy ourselves, and he eve sat down for a drink with us. I believe we were also given some complimentary appetizers as well. The food was great, and best part was the bill - very reasonable! Go here with your friends to have a great night! Pros: fun for a larger crowd more

Mesmerized 12/29/2009

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we live right around the corner from a restaurant as fine as Divan's Turkish Kitchen. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. The food has been exquisite both times we've eaten there, not to mention the enchanting atmosphere. To enhance your experience, we highly recommend that you bring cash and get there before 5pm to get 30% sliced off your tab. So far we have tried and loved these appetizers: Mantarli karides sote (Sauteed shrimp with mushrooms) & the Mucver (zucchini pancake) and these entrees: Kuzu Pirzola (lamb chops), Karides Güveç (shrimp casserole), and Pirinçli Ispanak (sauteed spinach with rice). We can't wait to try everything on the menu. Pros: Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly/flexible staff more

TOO GOOD 12/15/2009

TOO GOOD.. .I had heard so many good things about this place and it absolutely lived up to it's reputation. I was there with a group of friends on a Friday night and had a GREAT time. The atmosphere and the music were fantastic. Friendly servers and the amazing Turkish dishes made this place an instant favorite in our short list of ""go to"" spots... Comfortable atmosphere, yet chic and great food! Must try the Lamp Sis Kebab and Baklava. Jen \r \r Pros: Friendly Servers, amazing Turkish Dishes more

Hearty Dishes 12/15/2009

I absolutely love this place. It is consistently delicious, for both lunch and dinner. I never really considered myself a lover of Turkish food, but the hearty dishes warm you up and make you feel like your mom is in the kitchen. It's cozy and welcoming, a place you feel like you can have a 2 hour dinner and not feel bad about it. I live in the neighborhood and this place is such a welcome addition. Definitely, definitely try the lamb kebab entree .... I can't stop ordering it! The desserts are to die for, too. It's also a great place to BYOB. The staff is very knowledgable about all the food they serve. Seriously, can't say enough good things. Jasmina Pros: Cozy, Friendly & Welcoming more

Authentic Turkish Entrees 12/13/2009

I dont normally allow my husband to choose restaurants, but boy was I wrong. There was so much food we could not finish our portions. The Calamari was fried perfectly, my Doner Kebab was beyond heaven with a touch of turkish sauce. Yummy! I could not go without trying the Baklava. You are going to absolutely die for this dessert. Can't wait to celebrate our anniversary next year again at Divan Turkish Kitchen. Maki Pros: Tantilizing and juicy food Cons: Parking more

THE BEST 12/13/2009

I can honestly say, this is the best Turkish cuisine. I am the perfect critic since my country Serbia has many of the same specialties as the Turks. We had the mixed appetizer plater, & Lamb Chops. I swear my grandmother was in the kitchen preparing the food. Two words are sufficient, ""THE BEST"", tender juicy and the right amount of seasoning. The Baklava was the perfect way to end the perfect evening. You must visit & experience a taste of home. Marina Pros: Turkish cuisine more

Great Atmosphere & food 12/13/2009

Last night 5 friends and I went to Philadelphia to Divan Turkish Kitchen. It was an amazing experience. The staff was so pleasant, they greeted us at the door as you would old friends. The atmospheres was so warm and inviting. All of us ordered the Shepard's Salad for the appetizer and for the entree I ordered the Chicken Sis Kebab. It was so tender and seasons perfectly. I would highly recommend if going to Philly to only eat here. Maria Pros: Best Turkish Food more

Tantilizing Turkish Cuisine 12/10/2009

The owner of Divan, who spent his younger days in Turkey, dedicates his time and efforts to ensure overall quality concerning every aspect of your dining experience, including the right music to create an intimate atmosphere while you enjoy wonderfully prepared food and attentive service. Pros: Food, atmosphere... Cons: Parking can be a challenge, but well worth the circle. more

Fabulous Place with great food, service and prices 11/7/2009

A Turkish Gem in Graduate Hopital Area 10/25/2009

I absolutely love this charming restaurant. The authentic cuisine made me feel as if my taste buds took a quick culinary trip to Turkey (they were pretty tired of cheesesteaks). I highly recommend starting with a glass of their Hamam Pleasure (Puree of limes, strawberries, sugar, vodka, club soda). And I'm now addicted to their Turkish Dumplings (the aroma of the garlic yogurt sauce is amazing!). Pros: food & atmosphere more

LISTEN UP FOLKS, A GEM IN PHILLY 8/26/2009

THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. I WANT TO EAT THERE EVERY NIGHT. MY MOUTH WATERS EVERY TIME I THINK OF THIS PLACE. THE DUMPLINGS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD AND THE LAMB IS THE BEST IN THE CITY, AND I'VE BEEN AROUND. SALADS AND DESERTS EXCELLENT. RIGHT ON THE CORNER OF 22ND AND CARPENTER. WANT GREAT FOOD EAT HERE !! Pros: FRESH , DELICIOUS TURKISH FOOD more

Great Turkish BYOB restaurant 6/29/2009

Great BYOB restaurant with affordable prices, authentic traditional Turkish food and warm and cozy atmosphere.
