Discover Gymnastics

My little girl has been going to Discover for nearly 2 years now and she loves the place. The coaches are fantastic, they go out of their way to get to know the kids and their families. I'm surprised by the other comment about breastfeeding as I have been publicly nursing my second daughter there on a weekly basis for the past 5 months (since she was 2 weeks old) with only positive comments and support from the staff/coaches. more

Ok, I was at a birthday party at Discover Gymnastics with a friend who was nursing her baby. An employee walked up to her and told her she needed to move to a different area because the manager thought it was really inappropriate that she was nursing her baby when there were kids around. They went back and forth for a while with my friend standing her ground. Finally, a manager was requested but never came. Calls have been made to this business about their policy which they SWEAR is in accordance with the laws of Texas, but I can assure you, after the responses they have given all of us moms who have posted objections to the treatment of our friend, they are not the least bit sympathetic. Had my friend moved, as was suggested, she would not longer have had visual contact with her daughter. There is another negative review on here about the safety standards of this gym, and I whole-heartedly agree. You want to always keep you eye on you child because they can very easily get out or get hurt. This gym is just too big to ask someone to move to an enclosed room to nurse. Very disappointed in them. more

There are other children to play with, coaches are always around and they help the children settle down by ending the evening with a movie. They even have overnights New Year's Eve, Valentine's and Halloween. Call them at (713) 680-0045 to make a reservation, no membership required! If there is space available, you can all as late as the same day. The location is perfect - right off I-10 and minutes from Galleria, Downtown, The Heights and the Marq E center. I buy a 20 hour block to bring down my cost to $7/hr. Works great for me since I have to pay $10/hr for a sitter at home.They also have programs beyond competitive & recreational gymnastics in fitness, dance and home school physical education. I dropped off my 2-1/2 year old daughter for one of their drop-off camps and when my husband goes to pick her up (for the first time), an uninterested teenager tell him to just pick a child, any child. There were no questions as to who he was and if he was related to anyone there. Understandably, my husband was very upset and complained to the manager that until their security procedures are improved, we won't be coming back. After some time to cool off, I decided to try again but with a group class where I would stay during her instruction. I was told we were ""banned"" from ever coming to Discover Gymnastics again. How is that a way to run a business? Punish a child because her father points out a flaw in their procedures. They will never get another dime of our money. more
