We went to Azure as a spontaneous decision, and arrived about 7 on a Tuesday. It wasn't busy. Tuesday wines are 50% off - we had a Vieux Telegraphe Telegramme Chateauneuf du Pape for $24 - heck of bargain! My wife and I chose the same dishes: arugula salad with dates & manchego shavings - excellent! Followed by "Duck Two Ways" - a superb confit with mushrooms, and sliced duck breast grilled. The confit was better - and went perfectly with the CNDP. Closed with an excellent lemon tarte (shared). Precise, calm service. Don't waste your time here. I would recommend McDonalds over this place. Ate their twice on dates, and both times the orders came out wrong. Nothing altered from the menu. Service was awful, as servers were not familiar with the menu, which didn't matter since they spent most time talking at the bar and ignoring us. Food was average at best and nothing to brag about. I had dinner here last night with my girlfriend and it was outstanding! We have been looking for a place a little closer to where we live that is on par with our favorite Franklin establishments and we found it. We sat out on the romantic little patio on a gorgeous night and had one of the best meals we can remember. The atmosphere and service were great but the food was the highlight. We started with the sesame fried oysters with grilled ramps and truffle horseradish aioli which was delicious. For the entree, I had the duck confit with saffron risotto and haricot verts. The duck literally melted in my mouth. My girlfriend had the pan seared scallops with sweet corn, shiitakes, asparagus and a ginger lime vinaigrette. The presentation of the dishes was very cool, but the flavor combinations stole the show. Our waiter told us that they have a new chef. My compliments, we will return very soon. more

Last week, I had the pleasure of eating one of the best desserts I had ever tasted. It was the mint chocolate chip cheesecake. The cool mint was refreshing and the chocolate ice cream and the candied orange and sauce topped off this superb culinary creation. While the rest of the meal was great, this delictable dessert really stood out as the show stopper. I would recommend it to one and all. Also, try the arugula salad and the scallops. more

ok, chapel hill: can't you find some good servers somewhere? I am beginning to think all of the really experienced professional servers are in Durham. Case in point: we dined here, and the manager actually trained our server how to properly open a bottle of wine at our table. Can't they do that in the kitchen? I mean, come on, at least give us the illusion that our server knows what she's doing! The food was great, the prices are not, atmosphere is very nice, but, again, when I am paying some decent dollars for a meal, I expect the service to be just about flawless. I have no complaints for this place. The atmosphere is very full of light, with an interesting art collection on the walls. Even with a storm outside, it somehow seemed like we were dining at a sunny sidewalk cafe. The prices are good for the fare and we liked everything we had-lightly fried green tomatoes, chicken with a leek bread pudding, scallops with a yummy corn fry. The dessert was also yummy-the m...m..m..cake, but a bit of a misnomer as it was definitely more torte than cake. I like tortes, my husband thinks they are too dry. Irma and I had a wonderful meal at this recently-opened restaurant (where O'Neill's used to be). The menu is high-end "French-American" bistro. They had a nice wine list with lots of great values. Irma like their bread. All food items were prepared with great attention to detail. Ask for a table on the "side" patio. We could easily eat here weekly.
