Best

This is by far the best restaurant in Nola. I had the BBQ shrimp with the Ribe-eye. Worth every penny. The steak melts in your mouth. Can't wait till I come back.

Worst

This restaurant serves good steak - nothing spectacular, especially for the pricetag. My experience with their service has been bad and worse. Pros: Location, Atmosphere C...

You're in New Orleans.. Do you really want Steak? 3/19/2011

FAR FROM THE BEST STEAK HOUSE. Dikie is your typical a la cart Steak House. The Turtle Soup was good. The Sweet Potato side was amazing. The Steaks had no life. No pop!. Nothing that made me want to dive right in. DO NOT ORDER THE MASH POTATO SIDE! Of all the things you can do to mash potatoes, ranch, sour cream, dirty mash.. THEY DO NOTHING. Just boiled mash potatoes. No salt. nothing. AVOID A STEAK HOUSE. You're in NoLa with so many local choices. Skip Dickie's more

Great Food 5/15/2009

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the 1st time on a recent trip to New Orleans. We were very satisfied. From the moment we walked in, the staff was courteous and efficent. The service was 2nd to none, and the food was fantastic! I was also pleasantly suprised to find that it was not overpriced like so many other upscale restaurants. However, don't be fooled by it's location in the French Quarter just off of Bourbon Street. This is an upscale restaurant, and guests should dress accordingly. The only downfall was that we were seated in a very large, open area, and we found it to be somewhat noisy and difficlut to have a conversation. Still, we had a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Great service, good ambiance, excellent food Cons: Loud, overcrowded more

outstanding food and service 6/28/2008

I took two of my girlfriends to dinner tonight to celebrate one of their birthdays. Our servers Ross and Dominic made the experience a memory. The food had no comparison as was the wine that was selected for us. I would recommend Dickie's to anyone who wanted a memory to be made by the service and food. Pros: Ambience and service Cons: I cant find any more

Good anytime 8/5/2007

I found this place on a trip to New Orleans. For dinner it can be quite romantic, although a bit crowded, but then, why wouldn't it be, the food is that good. I also stopped in for lunch there. Although that was years ago ( I don't think they serve lunch anymore). They had great specials. Another restaurant I would travel great distances to eat at. more

dine anytime, dedicated staff, excellent management, outstanding kitchen staff 4/18/2007

have eaten at DB's several times, even worked there once! recomend dining in the bar for a more casual atmosphere. The management (all of them) are there for you, the customer. They strive to exceed the expectations of not only all other restaurants in the city; but to stand above above and beyond the Brennan Family Tradition. If you could see what goes on in the kitchen, there would not be one bad review. Everyone is dedicated to producing the most quality product and presentation to our visiting extended family form anywere. Signed a New Orleans Native more

Very Good Place to Go to Impress Someone 10/4/2006

I absolutely love this restauranta; however, it is very expensive. This is definitely a restaurant where you would go on a first or second date to impress a girl but get ready to pay. The atmosphere is very romantic. The steak is probably the second best I've had in New Orleans however the entire ambience of the restaurant is very classy especially in the midst of the French Quarters. Guys, you won't be able to dine unless you are wearing at least business casual. Waiters wear white jackets and bow ties and there is also valet parking. With reservations, the time to prepare our food was not long. I would definitely go back there again. Pros: Everything Cons: It's in the French Quarters so there are a lot of drunk partygoers out and about. more

forget it....... 6/6/2005

poor meal. couldnt find the waiter to send my fish back.... it was WAY overcooked. my customers meal was also overcooked. i left 3/4 of my meal on the plate when the jr waiter removed our dishes. i told him how very dissapointed i was and that i still was hungry. after 15 min and no waiter.... the jr waiter gave us the dessert menus which i gave back to him. when presented with the bill, i wrote across the front of it..."" you have yet to address my poor meal, lack of service and embarrassment infront of my client."" i guess the head waiter asked if there was a problem... and he did nothing, no adjustment, no offers. i paid and left. Never again. Never, never again. Pros: big name, trendy Cons: bad attitude, over priced, arrogant more

Ample Anniversary 5/19/2005

They were just wonderful. I was pregnant and easily tired out and the wait staff was just excellent. They even took my arm to steady my way to the restroom and at 8 1/2 months pregnant that's a big deal. more

Wonderful experience 3/11/2004

I highly recommend taking the advise of the wine steward. My wife and I did and found a new favorite wine. Food was excellent and the wine complimented it perfectly. more

Absolutely one of the best steakhouses I've ever eaten in. The food is excellent, service is impeccable and atmosphere very low key. Highly recommend. more

A Highlight of Our Trip 9/3/2003

Eating here was one of the highlights of our weekend trip to New Orleans. We were so impressed with the service here--there were 3 waiters assigned to our table! And during our meal, two managers came by to see how our meal was going. The food was outstanding! We had mushroom soup for starters, which was delicious. Everything was served piping hot. For the entree, I had the Snapper (i believe) on the Half-shell. YUM! It was the most delicious piece of fish I've ever eaten. We also ordered dessert--the Blondie. It was to-die-for! My friend and I talked about that meal for a long time. It was on the expensive side--over $40 per person, but it was definitely worth it! The atmosphere was a nice respite from the carnival-like debauchery happening right outside! Pros: Delicious Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Expensive more

Good & Bad 8/24/2003

Great Filet Mignon, better than most anywhere. Great coconut cake. Excellent house wedge salad. One problem - one patrner ordered the nighlty special, and it took a LONG time for our food to arrive, only to find the ""special"" was cold. We told the waiter, he immediately got the manager and he said it was complimentary, no charge for the special, without hesitation. Cold food, but excellent customer service to make it right. I would still recommend this reatuarant. more

Dominick of Dickie Brennan's 7/7/2003

My mother and I went to Dickie Brennan's during Mother's Day weekend. The food was heavenly, but even more heavenly was our waiter, a man named Dominick. He had a stunning smile, New York accent, and funny stories. I have never enjoyed a meal better in my life. Plus, I practically fell in love with the waiter! more

Mr. 6/8/2003

My wife and I eat a DB's Saturday (6-7-03) night with reservations at 6pm. All went well until they decided to move most ofl the tables in our room between our courses. Tables were moved, tables were built and tables were extended. Then the waiter (without so much as an ""excuse me"") took the two extra chairs from our table to fill out another table - there were tables where no one was seated for that purpose). While food was ok, but pricey - I will not spend that kind of money for that performance again. Pros: Food, background music, good parking Cons: poor planing for rush, pricey more

NEVER AGAIN 6/2/2003

This had to be the ABSOLUTE worst dining experience. Watched other tables get Class A service (didn't help the table was a minor celebrity and his minor celebrity wife). Served the 12 ounce blackened prime rib, with 4 ounces of it being one big piece of fat, watching other tables have their water filled w/o asking, to waiting an hour for our check to come (something about the computers going down). The most horrible experience ever. Pros: There are none Cons: Horrible Service, Dark Restaurant more

OVERRATED 5/15/2003

Don't Miss This One 5/15/2003

Wonderful, well seasoned and cooked to order Ribeye and the service was excellent. If you are looking for service, atmosphere, and a perfect steak don't miss Dickie Brennan's on your next trip to New Orleans. Pros: Excellent Service, Wonderful Atmosphere, Great Food more

Worse ever 5/15/2003

First, we asked for a specific waiter when we made reservatons and did not get him; second, everything went downhill from there. The food was either wrong, cold or cooked wrong. The drinks were as ordered except coffee. Our DD ordered coffee 3 times and each time were different and was not what he ordered. The sauce for the steak which was supposed to be a butter, garlic sauce was a thick brown sauce and it was the same for the escargot. We spent over $400 and should have gone to Burger King.. at least they deliver what they say! At the end of the meal (which took over two and a half hours to get the entree) the manager said they knew what was wrong and they were overbooked and understaffed. YUCK! Pros: seated promptly at 7, busboys were nice, clean Cons: bad food, bad service, rude waiters more
