Di Palo has Great Customer Service 12/29/2011

I originally met Lou Di Palo online through Twitter. My daughter was going to NYC and I asked her to go to Di Palo's since the shop sounded like a good place to check out. Lou Di Palo himself came out and talked to her, and showed her around. He helped her pick out a cheese and other tasty snacks. He didn't know us except for the few times I'd talked to him over the internet. 3 years later it was my turn to finally get to NYC and guess where I headed! We walked into a busy shop with a line of customers, waited our turn and asked for Lou when we got to the counter. The shop is family run and they made us feel like very important people indeed. Lou was out but expected back momentarily. We decided to walk around a bit & come back. We found him outside and across the street. He talked to us and showed us around himself. He has an entire shop next door with wines. He showed me 4 types of Parmesan cheese and explained the difference in how they taste and why. I left with a gift of Orange Chocolate that Lou gave me. I am so happy to recommend Di Palo's to anyone going to NYC, Manhattan, and Little Italy. more

Something stinks and its not their cheese!!!!! 11/24/2011

I have gone through the trouble of signing up for several review sites just because I want others to know about my experience with Di Palo's Fine Foods. Furthermore, I'm so mad I plan on continually posting my experience on these review sites until it becomes physically impossible for me to do so. In late November 2011 I called up to see if they have Sheeps Milk Ricotta Cheese. The girl named Jessica I spoke to said yes. In addition to that she brought up If I wanted to have it put on the side for me to pick up. To that I responded yes. After traveling all the way into the city, guess what? They sold out all the Sheeps Milk Ricotta Cheese. The women behind the counter said sorry because they didn't hold the cheese for me. Whats the point in the girl I spoke to on the phone, asking for my name, and voluntarily asking if she could put it on hold for me to pick up? Thats not a real care in the world on customer service. The whole ""take a ticket"" and wait for your number to be called system there symbolizes how they think of their customers only as a number. Let me not forget to mention that the wait time was at least 45mins easy. After waiting around a packed store full of people for like 25 to 30 mins, and still around 20 numbers needing to be called before mine, I finally saw an opportunity where the lady behind the counter was not so busy. Thats when she confirmed that Jessica, her daughter, never held anything for me. Something stinks and its not their cheese!!!!! more

I went to DiPalo's on the suggestion of my Aunt who grew up in that neighborhood. the service was great, I was intimidated to orer hearing all the other customers with thier special / specific orders. When the person behind the counter called my number it was like I was the only customer there. It's a great atmosphere and I highly suggest going there. I traveled the sausage home iwth me to florida and cooked it for some friends. It was GREAT! Pros: Great Service Cons: Too Far away from Florida where I live more

Best Ricotta! 10/22/2007

Even if 25 other people are in the shop you get waited on as if you are the only one there. The owners are excellent business people and very congenial they will go to great lengths to see that you are satisified. The homemade ricotta & mozzarella are delicious. From time to time sheeps milk ricotta is flown in from Rome. more
