It would be great if I could write a positive review of the Desert Toyota service center, but they simply don't deserve it. It's said that with all the problems that corporate Toyota is having with recalls, that this dealership isn't doing more to perform quality work. Case in point: after a visit to the Desert Toyota service center to replace the shocks on my vehicle ($800), I later discovered that the technicians had left three nuts loose on one of the shocks, which I had to fix myself dare not drive a vehicle with loose suspension components. When I spoke with the service manager at Desert Toyota, Brian Bradley, the best the dealership would do is offer me $100 credit on future service. Unfortunately, given that I can?t trust their technicians to perform a shock replacement, how can I trust them to do anything else?
So, take my advice, go somewhere else, even if its a bit farther out of the way. Buy Toyota parts from another dealer and have an independent mechanic perform the work. Despite what the Desert Toyota service manager may tell me, I have found the performance of the technicians at Desert Toyota is no better than any other mechanic. For what you spend, particularly on an important system like the suspension, you should expect to get better service for the additional cost.
Pros: Local, provides shuttle
Cons: No better than any other dealer service department.
