Deep Blue

My wife, infant daughter, and I were staying at the duPont. The hotel restaurant was pretty boring and expensive. This was the only place that seemed worthwhile so we went in. They were very helpful and accommodating of our daughter. We sat in the lounge area and ordered from the bar menu. We got mussels, calamari, and a tuna wrap. The mussels were done in the classic Belgian style and served in a pot. The tuna wrap was light, spicy, and not at all soggy. The calamari was the highlight though. It was not deep fried. It was grilled and served in a tomato-pepper sauce. Not at all heavy and very creatively done. The only criticism is that kitchen was a little heavy on the salt. The bartender was great and was pregnant herself. We also were greeted and thanked by the owner. If we lived closer, we stop in sever times a year. more

As a local to Downtown Wilmington, I've been in pretty much every restaurant in the immediate area. Deep Blue Bar and Grill is one of our absolute favorites. The service is attentive without being overbearing, the atmosphere is posh, and the food is amazing. I've never been disappointed, and it is our place for special occasions like Valentine's Day and birthdays as a couple. I've attended many work functions there during happy hour, as well, and really enjoy their large bar area. If you are on their e-mail list, you can receive amazing offers like $25 three course lobster meals. Yum! more

Way over priced! Food and service is avergae at best. Music, good atmosphere, and location is the best thing this restuarant has going for it. Pros: Good bar and music Cons: Over priced food, small portions, and average quality more

Trendy, upscale seafood-focused restaurant with large separate bar and private dining area. The best seafood in Wilmington. Excellent raw oyster selection, good tuna, and other fish entrees. Even steak was above average with tasty carmelized peppers and onions. Dessert menu has been kicked up a few notches and has good chocolate mousse dome and a peanut butter and chocolate mousse pie as a special the night we dined worthy of a place on the regular menu. My only qualms (and not big ones) is that many of the seafood entrees are served over a puree of vegetables that seems too similar and that risotto (while excellent) is prevalent too. $3 parking is available around the corner (and over the restaurant) or the valet will set you back $6. more
