I took my Sonata in for two factory recalls & thought I would take advantage of an A/C system checkout coupon I received in the mail. There was also a coupon for the In-Cabin air filter. I called the parts department to find out the cost of the filter ($25.50). At checkout, I was originally charged $29.95 for the filter until I made a fuss about it & $20 labor charge to install it. I would have thought the A/C system checkout would have included inspection of the filter but to tack on another $20 to replace it is just unconscionable. An aftermarket filter (manufactured by STP) costs $6.49 at the local parts store. I have changed it several times before on my own, takes less than 5 minutes. I guess it was my fault, I should have asked how much this was going to be. If I'd of know it was $50 even with the two coupons I would have certainly passed. I love my Hyundai but it is still maintained using the good old American mentality.
