Dave's Rent A Car

My car broke down and I needed a rental while it was being fixed. The shop called Dave's for me and they came and picked me up. What a nice and friendly bunch of people working at Dave's. They turned my frown upside down and really made me happy. Anyways, they rented me a Corolla like mine but new. The next day the shop called and told me my car was dead and not worth fixing. So, after work, I drove up to the Toyota dealership to look at cars. After a couple of hours of stress, I got out of there! The next day, I was talking to a co-worker and he told me that he saved a lot of money and time buying his last 2 cars at Dave's. I stopped by Dave's on my way home and asked them about cars for sale. They told me I could buy the one I rented or could rent and then buy a different one. They had hundreds of cars and just about everything was Honda and Toyota. I picked a Camry and they let me rent it for a couple of days to make sure it was what I wanted. I drove the Camry to my mechanic to check it out. He asked me were I got the car from. When I told him Dave's, he told me he really didn't need to look at it very hard. He had never found a bad car from Dave's in 15 years. He checked pricing for me on the internet and found out Dave's wanted almost $2000 less than the Toyota dealer. I went back to Dave's to buy the car. They told me they could process the DMV and even get the loan for me at School's CU. 20 minutes later, the car was mine. What a nice experiance. I am older and live by myself. I live a few streets down from Dave's and when my car broke down they came and picked me up. The driver was very friendly and helpful. The staff was wonderful and very helpful figuring everything out. They are a pleasure to do business with. more

I love Dave's. They have such a large selection. I have used them when my car broke down and also to rent 4-wheel drives to go up to Tahoe. They are always very friendly and helpful with the process. Their cars are very clean and I would never think of going anywhere else to rent more

After reading the review about the $300, I hesitated to use Dave's. Because they had the car I wanted and it was cheaper than anywhere else, I went for it. When you rent a car from them, they tell you that you need a DL, insurance and CREDIT card. If you only have a DEBIT card, just tell them and they'll explain the process. Fortunately they take them at all because most rental companies don't. Because I work in the banking industry, I know that Debit cards are linked to your checking account and the bank (not Dave's) holds the money out of the account temporarily. If she was honest, she'd tell you that she used a debit card and that it was never actually charged, that there was just a temporary hold. Honestly, $300 as a security deposit is nothing for a $30,000 SUV. If I was renting my own car out, I'd want more! Try Dave's and see for yourself. more

I travel a lot for business and have rented from almost all of the national chains. Going through El Dorado County I had some car trouble and ended up at Dave's. First of all the staff was extremely helpful and had smiles on their faces the entire time. All they needed was my driver's license, credit card and proof of insurance (some companies want utility bills, pay stubs, etc. which is very annoying and inconvenient). I was done in less than 5 minutes and couldn't have been more pleased with the rental car and the entire experience. The next time I'm in town and need a rental, I'll look forward to going back to Dave's. more

Here is the deal. I travel quite a bit, and when I had a car repair place ""comp"" my rental I thought it was great considering the expense. Normal companies take down your credit card if something happens. Enterprise, etc. - I have rented from all of them. I signed a contract with Dave's and later on checked on my account online and $300 was taken out of my account - mind you this is nowhere on the contract. If this is not deposited back in my account tomorrow AM. I am calling every news station in the area - my company specializes in publicity and I do not want anyone else who is tight on cash for paying for a car repair to have to deal with a nasty suprise like this. I hope they read this the evening and received my voicemail messages. more

Rented a car for a work seminar over the weekend and i only needed the car from thursday night thru saturday night. I was disappointed to hear that I would have to rent the car thru Monday because Daves closed at 1pm on Sat. Never in my life have i been to a rental company where the sales person wont meet you when you are ready to return the car....instead i was informed i would have to rent the car for 2 extra days!!! Also i was told they were holding a $300 deposit and the balance of the rental car would be taken out of that upon return of the car. That was a big joke! The company held $300 but also took out the balance of the rental car and I AM STILL waiting on the held money to be returned 4 days later! I will never go to this company again. I am very disappointed with their lack of information, professionalism, and will not be referring anyone to this company for rental or for sales!! They need to work on their business ethic, and explain the details of a rental more clearly to their clients! I thought i was only out $300 holding deposit yet instead i am out the holding deposit...plus the car rental expense! Had i known that, i would not have rented the car in the 1st place! more

So I was on my way to celebrate my 21st birthday and I got rear ended! Luckily, it was right outside of Dave's on Cameron Park drive. I walked down to Dave's to ask for paper to exchange insurance details with the man that hit me, and got treated like a princess! Not only did they give me paper and ice for the fat lip I got from the crash, they also offered me one of the nicest cars on their lot for cheap! I've never been able to rent a car at places like Hertz or Enterprise because I'm not 25, but Dave's allowed it no problem! They also worked directly with the Insurance companies to get paid which made it way easier on me through all the stress, and helped turn my birthday around! I'll never rent anywhere else. I was looking for a nice car to rent and didn't want to spend a ton of money. When I called around I found that Dave's was the only place that had cars with nice features like DVD, Navigation, MP3, moon roofs, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the price was cheaper than the other guys too. Everyone at Dave's was very nice and easy to work with. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. I enjoyed everything about renting at Dave's and will recommend them to everyone I know. This had to be one of the best car rental experiences i have ever had. I got stuck with having to have my truck in the shop for almost a month, and not only was Dave's very accomodating, they went above and beyond in customer service.
