I wanted more information on specific vehicles. Dave's Auto Service could improve their service if they started up better communication regarding different options.

I've been going to Dave's Auto Service for about two years now and I've always had a very good experience with Dave. I used to go to the Dealer for my servicing, but gave up on them when they wanted to fix an oil drip for $750! No way. I starting going to Dave's. He knows what he's doing and gets things straightened out no problem. He always does a very good job. He gives you honest answers and good service. He tells you when to bring it in and when it will be done. And he usually gets it done when he says it will be done, unless he runs into trouble, but he'll always let you know the progress. I have no reason to bad mouth him! I've recommended him to family and friends. more

They always do the full job. 5/24/2011

Dave's Auto has good value. They worked on my rear breaks, and they always let me know of other issues with the vehicle. They always do the full job. For instance, if there's a hub off in the back, they grease the car up while they're at it, as that can easily be done while the wheels are off. I've been pretty pleased with their knowledge of older vehicles too, and I've never had a problem. more

Dave's Auto Service is fast and professional! 5/23/2011

The service Dave's Auto Service was great! I found him online and read his reviews, which were great and he was close to my house. I was up against a wall when I went in and explained my case. We were leaving the next day for a vacation/graduation down south. My AC system was shooting out hot air. I knew we'd need the AC working for my eight passengers and three doggies for the ride there and back. He was very professional and assured me that he could have the job done in less than twenty four hours. He told me that he'd be able to locate the actual part needed with no problem. I left my car in his hands and returned the next day. I was hopeful. I wasn't able to shop around or to check prices, so I don't know if I could have found it cheaper. But for the speed he was able to get it done in, and to be able to track down the part, it was worth it! I feel really lucky that we found his shop and not somebody else's! It could have been a nightmare and there was no way we could postpone a graduation! We had an enjoyable experience with him. He got us on the road and on our way to our vacation! We'd definitely use his shop again. more

Always Fair with service 5/23/2011

I had transfered with my job to another city about 2 years ago and I recently was transfered back to madison and I'm glad to be back. Dave always treated me fair on any repairs I needed. more

Loyal to customers! 2/20/2011

Dave is friendly, reliable, and honest. He will do whatever he can do help you get your car fixed for the best value and in the shortest possible time. He is as loyal to his customers as they are to him. One time when my car wouldn't start, he drove to my work, picked up my key, drove to my house, brought my car to his shop, and didn't charge me a penny extra for all that! Now that's an amazing mechanic!!! more

I first went into Dave's Auto Service the day before Christmas Eve, a few years back. I was afraid that I wasn't going to be able to make it home. But Dave took me in and fixed my car and got me back on the road. He saved my Christmas! I've been a loyal customer ever since. Dave is truly one in a million. He's totally honest and doesn't sugar coat a thing. However, everyone that works there is really great. I always feel like I'm visiting family when I go there. I highly recommend their services. more

An honest and trustworthy shop with great mechanical aptitude. 1/28/2011

I am very happy with Dave's Auto Service. I came in for major work on my car and they called me back promptly with an estimate. They offered me three different levels or repair and gave the reasons for each one. They were very thorough and provided an accurate estimate and performed the work promptly. I trust my car with Dave's Auto Service. They were recommended to me by friends, and since then Dave's has always provided great advice. In fact, I have called on a couple of occasions just to ask about my car. Dave's gave me advice about the next step. more

Dave's Auto Service does an excellent job. I have been using them for 2 years and Dave is always right to the point and really knows his subject. He has done everything from oil changes to lights, brakes, and shocks for me. He is a knowledgeable person interested in doing a good job. more

Dave has been there for me in terms of providing advice. He is always available if I have a question. His prices are reasonable, he gets me in and out very quickly, and and he is dependable. I trust his opinion. I always feel like he is trying to get me a good deal. more

The staff does a great job and Dave is a great guy. 12/20/2010

I used to work down the street from Dave's Auto Service and I was referred to them by a coworker. She told me Dave was an honest mechanic. As a woman, she felt she could trust him to only fix what needed to be fixed. And, I have since referred Dave's to may other people. The staff does a great job and Dave is a great guy. I am currently staying outside of Madison, but I still commuted 77 miles to have my oil changed at Dave's. I will not give up my mechanic. The quality of the work is outstanding and Dave always lets me know what is going on. He makes sure my car is ready to go. He even checked out my car before a long trip to Florida. A went through everything from A to Z. He is a good man. more

This was my first time using Dave's Auto Service. He was very efficient and he did good work. As soon as I got there, he was able to determine what the issue was and he had time to fix it right away, which was great for me because I had I needed to be somewhere. He answered all of my questions swiftly and I got my car repaired so I could finish my trip. more

Thorough, trustworthy company that provides the best value for customers. 10/19/2010

We initially went to Dave's Auto Service because of a coupon promotion that they were offering, and we've been going back ever since. They service my vehicle, my 2 sons' vehicles, and they worked on my wife's car until she got an import. They are thorough and they tell you the truth about the repair estimate. They work to get your vehicle fixed for you at the best cost to the customer and the best quality of the repair, which makes it the best value. They do not sacrifice safety. I have recommended Dave's Auto Service to people and will continue to recommend them. more

I have been with Dave's Auto Service for 13 years now. I don't go to anybody but him. My wife and kids go there too. He is honest, he is fair, and it turns out great. I have had no problems with his work. I have been to some mechanics that don't tell me what I really need, but Dave always tells me what I need to do. more

Great mechanic; I have been very happy with his work. 10/7/2010

I had been having problems finding a decent mechanic, one who wouldn't take me for a ride so to speak, and a fellow I go to church with, who is a friend of Dave's, recommended him to me. I went out to Dave's Auto Service and had a conversation with him. I was impressed with him, and I told him right out that this mutual friend had promised me that Dave wouldn't cheat me. Dave laughed when I said that. I have been with him for 8 to 10 years, and I have been very, very happy with his work. I have an older car, and by now we have probably practically rebuilt the thing. I think he has redone about everything. The only time, and I can only think of one time, that a repair didn't work out was when Dave tried using a rebuilt part for the job. The part failed, and he replaced it with a new part at his own expense. I have recommended him to several people, many of whom have gone and are now customers, and I think he's a great mechanic. more

Excellent! Dave goes out of his way. 10/5/2010

Dave is awesome and so is his whole crew. I had a friend who had his car worked on at Dave's Auto Service, and he told me Dave was an honest guy and a very good mechanic. So, I now take my 3 vehicles and my son's vehicle to Dave's. I first took my Expedition there and he did an excellent job. I then took my Cadillac in to be repaired, and again they did an excellent job. Last year around football season, I was taking my son to practice when my airbags went out. I called Dave, he had the car towed over and he fixed it. He went out of his way to fix it and I really appreciate that. I was in a pretty tough situation and he helped me out. I fell like Dave is my personal mechanic, and I have recommended him to my friends. He goes out of his way, and you cannot ask for more than that. He is definitely a good guy. Karl Ennis more

Timely, fair, and accommodating. 10/4/2010

I've been with Dave's Auto Service for a long time, since they were at Milwaukee Street. I got my car right next door from their associates, and at that time Dave's Auto was even smaller. Something that I remember from the first thing I went in to Dave's is that when he gave me a loaner car he got in and started the car for me like a real gentlemen. After all these years that act has really stuck with me. I have a 1991 car. He has made parts for it, and had others make parts, because many of the parts for the car don't exist anymore. He figures out what could be wrong and then fixes it, which is not easy with a 1991. I still have that car. Dave's Auto has been very fair. He gets me in, and if I need a ride he will get it for me. He has also gotten me a tow truck. I had a roommate for awhile, and I got her to go there too. I like Dave and his place a lot. He treats me with respect, which is very good, and he listen to what I say. He does the work in a very timely manner, and has fair prices. He rides his bike to work and then fixes cars; I think that is funny. more

They find out what is really wrong. 6/4/2010

Dave's Auto Service really gets everything fixed. We have used them for about 7 years for all of our vehicle repairs, and we have a fleet of about 12 to 15 vehicles. They are always courteous and get the work done in a timely manner. What I appreciate the most about the shop is that they will keep looking until they find out what is really wrong. Dave is a mechanic with true integrity. 6/2/2010

After years and years of working with mechanics, one word comes to mind when describing Dave: integrity. There is a homey aspect to him, and it is easy to trust him because he is authentic. There may be places that are neater than Dave's Auto Service, and they might have a better paint job on the shop or a shinier sign, but none of that is as important as his integrity. You have to trust the person that you are working with. If the work is not perfect he will fix it. You can have a partnership for life with Dave. more
