Shoe loft 7/20/2019

I took a pair of boots today in to have a orthotic shoe lift adjusted. The shoe lift came back lopsided and can’t be comfortably worn. Now I must take it somewhere else and see if it can be fixed. more

Outstanding 4/7/2019

I recently sent a pair of Asolo hiking boots to Dave to be completely re-soled. The polyurethane midsoles had degraded and the soles had separated from the boot. A local cobbler here in Reading, Pennsylvania told me they couldn't be repaired and suggested I throw them out. I got Dave's information through the Asolo website. Dave's email replies to me initially were very prompt and complete and courteous. For a very reasonable price he completely re-soled my boots with beautiful new Vibram soles. For a small extra fee he refinished the leather with Nikwax and gave me new laces. He turned a potential trash heap item into essentially a brand new pair of beautiful hiking boots. Thanks Dave from Pennsylvania! Highly recommended. I wouldn't send boots to anyone else. Frank Carter Wyomissing PA more

Fast and quality work 1/25/2019

The total time to put new Vibram soles on my Vasque boots was about two weeks. The cost was 1/3 of a new pair. It is not the same lug pattern as the original but the fit is not affected. The quality of the repair is high. more

Top quality work, fast turn around time, will be back in another six years. 12/17/2018

My favorite pair of Asolo boots were breaking down after six and a half years of adventuring. Asolo recommended Dave Page, Cobbler. I contacted them via e-mail and received a price quote with an estimate of 1 week turn around on the repair. My boots came back just over a week from when I sent them. They look great! KP more

Simpering meager Seattle whiners 6/16/2012

I have had Dave resole many pairs of mountaineering boots over the years. All I can say is great work and old world prices. I once had him resole some flip flops that I took to the tropics and de-lamenated. I brought them back to him and he resoled them for free and said nothing can handle hot salt water for long. As to his personality. If you like mountains or boots or Seattle you may find you have a lot in common with him, do you want your boots fixed or do you want therapy? I personal really enjoy him and can easily imagine being sickened by the other reviewers that need a friend at the cobblers more

Work Suffers 4/6/2012

Dave Page Cobbler is highly overrated. I've sent two different pair of hiking boots in to him for resole. Both failed shortly after I received them back. Dave Page is rude, arrogant, and quite condescending to be sure. At one time he might have been the master cobbler that he purports. But over the years he probably got too busy, hired inexperienced help, and became detached from the actual craft of cobbling. That's probably what caused his attitude and attention to detail to fall into the toilet. I've seen it happen too many times. When a man takes on more than he can handle, the work suffers. Be careful out there. more

Great work, good price 8/19/2011

I have had him resole 2 pairs of work boots and his craftsmanship is top notch. As to him being less than sociable, I don't mind. Transactions were quick and to the point. He is always busy. Don't let his attitude discourage you, these reviews should be based on his workmanship. That is what you are paying for, not a new friend. more

unfriendly, arrogant and condescending 4/13/2010

Sellers and buyers always keep in mind that people like to buy from people they like. I talked to Dave Page on the phone the other day and he was unfriendly, arrogant and condescending. Based on that first and last experience, I won’t pay for his services. I found a different cobbler to work with instead. more

First Rate work: Reasonable prices 5/4/2009

Over the past seven years, I have had Dave Page resole several pairs of hiking boots and hiking shoes: results were excellent. The boots/shoes came back in a relatively short period of time and the fit was exactly the same as before. I believe the soles he puts on last longer than the originals: good materials. more

Incredible Work! Great Price! 1/8/2009

Found a recommendation of Dave page,Cobbler on a hking boots web page and was about to throw away my merell hiking boots which i LOVE and owned for years. As many know, they can NOT be re-soled by any shoe repair so i was hopeful when i happened upon Dave Page's service. I shipped my boots UPS during the xmas season and had a prompt reply to my inquiry re price and timeline. i had my ( virtuallly ) "new" boots with very rugged new Vibram soles returned to me along with an ETA of when i might expect them. My expectations vis a vis the workmanship/ price and customer service were exceeded. I couldn't give a higher recommendation if i tried. Whover suggested that Dave was "rude" (?!) HAD to have been speaking with someone else. The work performed and service I received were from a bygone era in which a customer" and the service performed "mattered"! FIVE star, and all for $69.00 bucks! thanks dave more

Rude, expensive and misleading 10/26/2008

I'd heard great reviews of Dave's, but I was disappointed in almost every way. The sole and a metal heel piece was initially expensive, when I picked up my shoes (3 weeks later), the price had gone up $10 with no explanation. Second, the customer service was poor. When I questioned the price increase, Dave's response was condescending to an extent that made further conversation uncomfortable. Four weeks later, I've discovered that the 'metal plate' is not metal. It is plastic, and it has already rubbed off. more

Great repairs - not just hiking boots 11/9/2006

I've had Rayleigh hiking boots rebottomed ($60) and thin rubber added to dress shoes as well as reheeled. New rubber heel bottoms were about $15-20, can't remember exactly. Pricey, compared to where my mom takes her shoes to be repaird, but the work is good and for the extra mileage I get out of good shoes, it's totally worth it. The older fellow, whom I'm guessing is Dave Page, was a bit short on words, so I guess that's not particularly welcoming. But apparently people send in hiking boots from all over the country to be redone. more

Didn't Feel Welcomed at Dave Page. 5/23/2006

A few years ago my then girlfriend and I brought in some shoes to Dave Page in Fremont. We didn't know much about cobbling or what the process was for repairing shoes and that's how the employee on staff made us feel. I'm not sure if it was Dave Page or an assistant, but I was not impressed about how condescending he was when we asked some basic questions. I felt like we were putting him out by being there as if our questions weren't worth his time. We left shoes for repair anyway inspite of his attitude because we had to get them repaired, but I think it was because we didn't know where else to go that was convenient. It's not everyday that people go to the cobbler and if your first experience is a negative one that doesn't help at all for future business. He may very well be the best cobbler in town for all I know, but he sure didn't act like it with class or with a helpful attitude. I've thought about repairing some shoes since then and because of that experience I'll never go back there. From living in Magnolia I know there is a cobbler over there by the ACE Hardware, sorry I don't know the exact name. more

Skilled cobbler and shoe repair 8/17/2005

I've resoled or repaired various of my shoes (Birkenstocks, Chacos, hiking boots) many times and seen a pretty wide spectrum of quality. I was impressed by David Page. I took my Chacos there to be resoled a year ago and have been delighted -- my new lug soles are (as he warned) a bit heavier but have stayed attached and worn like iron, two features I haven't always had in a shoe repair. He does Birkenstocks, climbing shoes and other repairs as well. Competitive price compared to what I've paid in the past. more
