Dave Page Cobbler

Sent my Asolo boots to Dave Page Cobbler, all the way from here in NC. All I can say is Excellent Job!!! Was quoted 2 weeks for the two repairs I needed. So I expected a 4 week total time 1 week there, 2 weeks repaired and 1 week back. I was pleasantly surprised to receive my boots back a full week early. Thanks Dave more

Horrible Experience I never had the chance to see the quality of the work, as Dave hung up on me before I could send him my boots. Unfortunately it seems Asolo recommends Dave for their repairs. Asolo provided me a free repair for defective boots. I called Dave to see if it was possible to get the boots repaired before my next trip. Dave was unusually terse and became emotionally responsive when I did not have an answer to one of his questions. When I asked him to wait while I looked up the information from Asolo, he became upset and said he had three other callers waiting. I asked him if he was interested in doing business with me, to which he said no and then hung up on me. I'm hopeful Asolo can provide an option otherwise I'll simply buy boots from another vendor. more

Now I haven't actually used Dave Page Cobblers yet, but I called them and he spent some time with me on the phone, even though from the outset it must have been clear to him that I was not a customer. He gave me some impartial, insider knowledge, set me straight on some common misunderstandings and this was a huge help. Based on that, I would definitely use his service in the future. more

In September, 2007 I saw several reviews about ""Dave Page, Cobbler"" and decided to send my Vasque Montana mountaineering boots to be re-soled. They had gone through 18 years of fairly hard use and the soles were in horrible condition. The upper leather was still in very good shape and you just can't buy new boots that are made with this same quality, particularly those made using Norwegian welt construction. I called Mr. Page and he explained that it would take four weeks from the time he received the boots. So, I UPS'd them from South Carolina and got an email that the boots were received. Four weeks later, they were returned. Brand new Vibrum soles and mid-soles stitched on. Boots were cleaned and oiled and better than new because they were broken in to my feet and ready for the next trip. The repair cost me $89; I would have spent two or three times that to get my boots back into shape. Dave Page, Cobbler is a soft-spoken, customer-oriented craftsman whose shop works miracles. But remember, quality repairs take time and you have to accept that. Bottomline - I am extremely happy with my dealings with Dave Page, Cobbler and fully recommend him . more

I have had such a horrible upsetting experience with Dave Page himself, that i am feeling compelled to sign up for City Search and write a review. Do not go to this cobbler. He is an old bitter angry man and he has no respect for his customer. \r I brought in a pair of $150 shoes that had plastic jewels at the front. One of hte jewels had come loose and i asked if they could super glue it back on. They said they could...a simple job, but it would take a week. However the super glue burned through the plastic jewel and ruined it. It looks ridiculous now. I explained to Dave Page that i was really disappointed, as the shoes had cost me so much money. I also explained that i understood it was a simple mistake and they weren't to know that it would burn through the plastic, but i was visibly upset. These are my favorite shoes. Then he said to me 'do me a favor, never come back here, i never want to see you again'. I was stunned. Needless to say i won't be going back. more

I went in to Dave Page Cobbler today to get 4 pairs of shoes fixed and they turned me away!! The girl that helped me was snobby and acted as though I was a nuissance for coming into their shop. They turned away good business. She also told me that they don't repair street shoes, other than hiking boots. I went on their web site and sure enough, they repair all kinds of shoes.
