Dave Lane's Stereo Shop

A few years ago we decided to finish our basement and incorporate a small home theater. We shopped then decided to purchase all of our electronics at Dave Lane's Stereo Shop. Additionally we had them install our new system. The guys came to our house when the walls were framed to do the wiring and back again once the paint was dry and again to properly calibrate the system and show us how to most effectively use it! The install & service has been top notch and prices very competitive. We love how it turned out and often are asked-who did the work! more

I recently brought my corvette in for what I thought was a repair on my radar unit that I had installed in the car about 1 1/2 years ago. Once I dropped the car off I was told that the problem I had really didn't have anything to do with the radar unit. They did say they could still fix it for me. I totally assumed there would be a charge for this since it had nothing to do with the work they had done in the past. Once I picked up my car I realized the work order had No charge on it. This kind of service it what makes one company stand out from another and for that I thank them so much for the repair. more

I have been shopping at the Shop for >20 years and am so impressed by their quality of care. I recently took a 21 year old receiver in for repair (only had to pay for parts), and while picking it up, Gabriel pointed out what could have caused the problem in the 1st place. Thanks to his knowledge and explanation, I avoided blowing up my receiver again. Nothing beats their personal service and knowledge. more

I was all set to make my purchase at a big box store, but stopped into Dave Lane's on a lark. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made when looking at bigger ticket items. I was all set to make my purchase at a big box store until I stopped in and and talked to Robert. he took the time to find out my needs and really educate me on the products. I was looking for a 60 LED with a surround sound system. I ended up getting a much better system for the same money I was planning to spend at the big box store. I also had them install the system for me. The technicians Jared and Jake were absolutely outstanding. The quality of their work was outstanding. They also took the time make sure I was completely comfortable with the system and set-up before they left. I am not a technically gifted person when it comes to electronics, but they made the set-up very easy to understand. If you are thinking about purchasing a TV, stereo, audio, or visual components from a big box store do yourself a favor and stop into Dave Lane's Stereo shop. The knowledge of the sales staff and the technicians were outstanding! We purchased several pieces of equipment from them and also had some of our own. They did not try to sell us anything we did not want. The techs installed everything for us. They were exceptionally professional, courteous and patient - even when our teenagers asked for a second demo of the system about two minutes after they had just gone through everything with me. Additionally, when we thought we had an issue with the system just after installation, instead of trying to troubleshoot over the phone, they came right out to work with us. When I was a teenager (many, many moons ago) I looked forward to reading the Stereo Shop ad in the Saturday D&C. If you remember them, they were classic. My first purchase was speakers for my dorm room in college. I blew them out numerous times and Stereo Shop always fixed for free. Now that I'm a bit older and less prone to wild parties, I have upgraded all the electronics in my house with a customized solution from Dave Lane's Stereo Shop. Eric has been a huge asset in getting everything networked and running so that everyone in my house (kids included) can run things without needing Dad to help. Our system includes components in full tower in basement, Family room surround with 80" TV, Niles system for music in all rooms including outdoor, Sooloos media system (jukebox for parties), and they even setup a professional wifi network for us. What more can I say. They have been awesome to us! more

I've been a customer of The Stereo Shop for many years. Why do I keep going back? The sales staff is knowledgeable and courteous plus the installation crew was professional and efficient. I had a large plasma installed above my fireplace and it hangs like a picture...........no wires, holes or damage. Another job well done. more

We bought a radio from Dave Lane's, and it didn't work well in the location we were using it at our house. Dave Lane happened to be passing by when I was conversing with the salesman, he stopped in and said he would trade it out for a better one. He just voluntarily upgraded us and took care of the problem right on the spot. The repair counter person is absolutely outstanding in helping us with problems with our previous radio, and helping us install things and understand how they work. When we buy something we need someone who explains things well, and is patient and he does that well. more

I moved to Rochester about 10 years ago. I bought a little audio/video here, a little there for the first few years living here, no real loyalty or working relationship. But when I decided to do a complete makeover of systems in my house beginning in 2011, I was looking for some better equipment than the brick & mortar stores carry, and also some occasional technical advice and a chance to check out some demo units at home. That led me away from the B&M stores and straight to the Stereo Shop, and I've been a happy and loyal customer since. These guys know their stuff, and they carry great brands -- spent quite a bit there in the past year+, but it's worth it every time I turn on a movie or CD or stream to my patio. more

I always do recommend Dave Lane's Stereo Shop. I have worked with a couple AV companies similar to Dave Lane's in the past, and I found, for one thing, I liked the stability of Dave Lane's business as well as his employees. With some of the big box places, you don't know who you're dealing with. When you walk in to Dave's, you know who your dealing with, and you know you're dealing with a different caliber of person. I bought my stereo system from Dave Lane's Stereo Shop and we installed it. They hung two plasma TVs on different walls. I also had them do a lot of wiring throughout the house. I wanted a system that was easy to use and they made recommendations. Now that they're not here I see that they were completely correct on the ease of the system. The techs that were here were all very professional, friendly, courteous, and very good at what they do. more

These guys have been offering some of the most high tech and up to date products around for quite a few years now. Although their prices are high, they do sometimes have decent sale and clearance prices and can install just about anything you could think of in your vehicle and a resonable price. I have used their install shop numerous times with products I didn't even purhcase from their store. That is something I like in an audio shop. If you aren't into car audio they have some very high end home entertainment products at a reasonable price and nice sound rooms to test all of them out. more

The stereo shop was a nice place to find audio equipment you normally couldn't find elsewhere in rochester. The staff is very knowledgable and not pushy like other places might be. It is a small but clean store that is easy to find and get to. They offer installation and service plans if needed. They carry nice brands and will have anything you could possibly need unless you are looking for ultra high-end audiophile equipment. PROS: good selection CONS: small more

They carry quality products and stand behind what they sell. The store is easy to get to and they offer delivery and installation if yo need it.
