Let's just start out with the basic rice. They cook CHEAP rice (50lb bag=$8) topped with some fried scallion for flavor? Can't even do Jasmine rice? WoW!\r Ummm...just a pair of chopsticks to eat rice and steak from the plate? Is this like a movie set?\r Had to ask waiter several times for sweeteners and hot sauce, and the place wasn't even busy. more

Marumi is one of my favorite restaurants and Dapur is very similar in concept and quality. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The lighting is dim and the place is kind of night clubish. Unobtrusive dance music is nice because the volume is low. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't make it hard to hear even 3 or 4 seats away.\r \r I had the Ox Tail soup, Short Ribs and Hot Tower. The soup was great but the ox meat was a little overcooked. The Short Ribs were excellent. I frequently consider this kind of thing to be borderline inedible but the cut of meat was very nice. The Hot Tower starts at the bottom with crispy rice, Avocado, lump crab meat, and then spicy tuna with spicy mayo on the plate. It was amazing and this was the best spicy tuna I have ever eaten. more

Not quite asian, not very good tapas. What do you get if you extract the signature flavors from asian favorites and serve them on small plates and call it tapas? Dapur, crappy pub food for sissys! more

Hip energetic restaurant with a separate bar area. Beautiful decor. Particularly liked their Hamachi Kama and Oxtails Soup. more

I went there last Friday with a group of 6 people. We decided to go based on al the RAVE reviews that this place was getting. We figured we wouldnt be disappointed. We called ahead for reservations since we wanted to be seated within a reasonable amount of time upon our arrival.\r \r When we arrived, we told the hostess of our reservations. She said our table would be ready in a few minutes. She then proceeded to move our group of 6 to the bar area where we all waited. 45 minutes later we still were not seated. We complained to the hostess and apparently they were waitng for a table that was big enough to hold our party.... the person they were waiting for was a friend of the manager's... the manager came out and talked to our group, told us he would hurry his friend and buy us our first round of drinks. Nice... but doesnt make up for all the time we waited considering we called ahead to make reservations and the place was not busy :(\r \r We ordered our food as soon as we sat down as we had plenty of time to look at the menu beforehand. After we placed our order the food came out sooo slow. I don't think it take a long time to make sushi rolls which is what the majority of us ordered. It took about an hour to get our food. We had also ordered spring rolls and soup. The spring rolls were forzen in the middle and the soup took the full hour to come to our table and was cold :(....\r \r The food was mediocre at best... not sure what everyone likes about this place. Anyway, I would never go back and neither will the group that I was with. Don't waste your time. Try another spot for Sushi... I will stick to what I know next time. more

I was introduced to Dapur by a friend who took my husband and I and who set some high expectations to say the least. She refused to allow us to look at the menu and demaded ordering for us. We had everything from bang bang scallops, spicy tuna tatar, crispy brussel sprouts and oxtail soup and much much more! Needless to say we had a very hard time picking a favorite because everything was so delicious, fresh and unique!!! I enjoyed it so much that I had to bring some more friends to try it a week later and they loved it as well! Besides the food, the ambiance, the service and speciality drinks are OUTSTANDING! I plan on going again and celebrating my birthday there because its spacious yet intimate!! more

Dapur really is one of a kind. The food is unbelievable and its evident the pride the owner has taken in carefully creating and selecting the absolute best to go on this menu. I brought 3 people along with me who had never been. I had set their expectations pretty high and was worried that they may not see it the way I did. They absolutely loved it - all 3 telling me it was the best food they had ever had in their lives! That is a HUGE statement. I have some suggestions: grilled whole calamari, hot tower, miso cod, tuna tartar, vietnamese rolls, crispy brussel sprouts, chicken salad, oxtail soup, rock shrimp, and bakmi goreng (basically everything I have ever tried) - just to name a few!! I would definitely suggest foregoing individual meals - order as much as you can as a group! more

This is a new restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. My girlfriend and I enjoy Asian food, but we don't eat seafood so it's a challenge to find a place with variety. The menu is pretty extensive and everything we tried was delicious. It's a very modern/chic space! not only the food is amazing, but the drinks is to die for. They only use fresh squish juices for the mixer and I heard that they grow their own herbs!!! And the prices are very reasonable for the portions of the tapas. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant.....we will definitely be returning! more

Just came home from Dapur. The drinks were good - definitely order the Gin and Cucumber (I think it was called the darkmoor). We ordered the papaya salad and spring rolls for appetizers. The salad was really good. The spring rolls were crisp, but we really couldn't taste much of the filling. \r \r For the main courses we ordered the Beef Rendang and the Bakmi goreng. The Bakmi noodles were delicious, but the disappointment of the night was the Beef Rendang. I saw the menu online, and we basically went for the beef rendang. I grew up in NY where I would eat at Penang and Nyonya, and lived in Asia where I travelled often to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur - Beef Rendang is one of those foods for me where I get a huge craving, and you just can't get it down in South Florida. First of all - 4 medium sized pieces of beef served with rice was $15.99. There are a lot of spices in Beef Rendang, and the 3 flavors I think about the most are coconut, chile peppers and lemongrass. I really couldn't taste any of them. Beef rendang also falls apart with a fork .... this was a bit tough.\r \r Dessert was hit and miss also - the passionfruit pie was amazing. The chocolate cake was amazingly dense and a little dry. more
