AWFUL SERVICE, RUDE OWNER, UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF 1/18/2012

I was planning our company holiday party here for a group of over 30 people. I did get a good deal at $15pp when we started discussing because a very good friend of mine suggested this place to me and if it wasn't for her I would NEVER have gone here. I was told different things when I originally made arrangements with James like,""... you can add more people to your party as you need and order additional dishes that evening, we will have entertainment (guitarist) for your group and will have 3 waiters serving your group."" All of that was a BIG LIE! About a night before the event I was trying to finalize some items and because of their lack of organization and unprofessionalism I ended up talking to the owner Jairo instead of James whom I'd been speaking to. Jairo is an extremely rude, ungrateful miserable person. He was telling me my group wasn't worth his time, and that I couldn't add additional dishes or guests to my party. Entertainment would NOT be available because I was getting a cheap rate and that he didn't even know why they took my reservation. I tried to explain that i was told differently and kept insisting that he was not looking at the bigger picture. We were a group over 30 and had an open bar. Aside from my frustrations the night before, at the night of our event we had only 1 (one) server for 30+ people. My guests had to go to the bar to get their drinks on MANY occasions. I ended paying for entertainment at my request but was told we wold have 2 sets of 40 minutes with flamenco dancing. The flamenco dancing was a total of 20 minutes. James, the original coordinator for my event was there that night. He checked in with me once and I told him the service was AWFUL. My guests had to get their own drinks, service was slow etc.. Our party had taken up half of their restaurant, how could one server accommodate us?? James never returned, never apologized NOTHING! Our party ended up costing $62pp instead of $15pp. I cannot explain how terrible this place was. The food wasn't even great! Way overpriced!! This was on opportunity for them to get more business. After all, i had brought in 30+ people that were new to this place. None of them will be going back either! We are in the service industry so we know what it takes to deliver good service as a whole! I would recommend everyone to stay away from this place. When spending so much I would much rather go somewhere where the people there are professional, well mannered, courteous, have customer service and deliver the services that they promised. If you are looking for these qualities then this place is NOT for you! Beware! more

Some places shouldn't be kept a secret 7/29/2009

The braised short ribs is what I ordered the last time I was here and let me tell you it was superb. I came here for a second date and shared the dish. I asked the waitress if the dish would be fair enough for two. She said that the dish would be a good size unless one of us tends to eat an ample amount to ourselves. Before they served the ribs the waitress had given us some fresh flat bread served with seasoned butter. I asked the waitress to bring us some sangria as we waited for the main entree. We had a lovely night there and after dinner, we conversed over a few drinks. BTW, they also have a full bar. This place was recommended to me by a friend for having a nice romantic ambiance and that's why I chose this place. My date loved the choice too. D'Cache also had some cool gypsy style music playing while we were there. This is an amazing dinner spot, especially for a date, a couple, or even just for a couple of friends. I heard the lamb is really good, but if you want to try something different definitely go for the short ribs. Pros: An amazing dinner spot good for two or more Cons: Kinda hidden more

DINE LIKE A KING 7/27/2009

Let me tell you this place made my night. After leaving work I met some friends and family at this place and it was out of this world. We had some yuka pastels, some pinchos gaucho style, ajillo mushrooms and some other TASTY treats. In short i had to order another order of Lamb chops for my wife cause I devoured hers. They have live entertainment and a beautiful open air kitchen. I cant wait to go there again. Pros: Authentic Brazilian-Spanish tapa's and Sangria :) Cons: A bit hidden but I think thats a plus+ more

Beautiful homeD'cache has great tapas and the ambience is great!!! I frequent the restaurant and have to say the musicians are top notch!!! A couple of guys really caught my ear and they go by Espino!! These guys are truly amazing and a talent that needs to be sought by the big time. I have seen many performances there and all are just ok but Espino by far is D'cache's best!!!\r \r The service us great and will continue to dine at D'cache!!! If any one wants to know more about Espino, I advise you check out their web site to see when they are at D'cache . Espimusic. Com\r \r You won't be sorry!! more

BEST PAELLA IN CALIFORNIA 12/13/2008

The D'Cache experience was fantastic, the owners Patty and Jairo are very friendly and hands on owners.\r They treated us royally and we were able to celebrate an impromptu birthday. The food was amazing, the tapas were very originals and delicious. The Paella was the closest to my grandma's when I was growing up. The service was excellent, The music fun and we could push the tables and dance.\r We had an amazing night and we'll be back regularly. FELICITACIONES!!! Pros: Food & food, ambience & service Cons: Margaritas need improvement more

Best Tapas Lounge! 6/29/2008

My husband surprised me with this fantastic restaurant! The live entertainment really sets the mood. The food was spectacular i would highly recommend the lamb chops. By far the best lamb i have ever tasted. The wine selection is short but very diverse. A refreshing new addition to Toluca Lake. Pros: Great Food, Great Service Cons: A bit hidden more

Exquisite! 6/18/2008

Was there for dinner last wednesday, for the fist time. I wanted to try something a little different and I came across D'Cache doing an Internet search for the new restaurants in the area. I have to say it was a beautiful dining experience. From the minute we walked in the floor, we were greeted by the waitress (i don't recall her name) and we received some of the best service ive ever had. She was attentive to every guest and provided excellent recommendations. The food - from the tapas to the dessert- was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere and the ambiance was brilliant. As we prepared to leave we asked the waitress about the rest of the restaurant and she was so nice, she took time out of her busy night to give us a quick tour of the whole place and we found it really nice, especially the two private areas. I will definitely be returning and I will be telling my friends about D'cache. Im glad i discovered it! Pros: Service,Food Cons: Hard to find its behind a spa more

The live entertainment was the cherry on top of my night. I will highly recommend D'cache to my friends. I know I will be back! Pros: Live Entertainment , Best Lamb Chops! Cons: Short Dessert menu more

Desperate & Pathetic 5/8/2008

From the moment you walk in, you sense the desperation of the restaurant. The owners attack the table, needing to know all about you, and forcing you to sign guest books to get your contact information. The service is below AMATEUR, regardless of the high prices. You can witness the children waiters clumsily opening a $200 bottle of wine; It's embarrassing for everyone involved. Or you can order the AWFUL house Sangria ($10) that mixes the CHEAPEST gin, brandy, and wine; guaranteed headache. The tapas are mediocre. The only good thing, is the old house in which you are dining, but then why not just eat at home? By the time you leave, you feel sorry for the fake, needy owners. But once you know that both of the them have ZERO experience with restaurants, you realize that they are ignorant not only in the dining world, but on so many other levels. You can already witness their failure; the owners are open about their financial problems. D'cache needs to just fade away. Pros: Old house. Cons: Everything else unacceptable. more

Is that a rioja in a goatskin you're pouring down my throat? 1/29/2008

Three visits, three different groups (a deux, for four, for eight) and three good times.\r \r D'Cache has a really welcoming vibe to it - the four or five different seating areas break things up nicely, the service is tremendous and and I like the fact that the chef checks up on me to see how I""m enjoying the food. I don't know enough about regional spanish food to say that this is authentic, but authentic or not, it's great. Our standout favorites - beef short ribs, truly exceptional roast lamb deboned tableside (although the serving dish does fill the room with smoke every time it's brought out) and the paella.\r \r I'd struggle to call the appetizers true tapas - to my mind they're too big for that, but judge them as appetizers and they're fine - there's a pizza-style oven bread (the correct name escapes me) which is great.\r \r On our third visit they'd got a full bar license; we like the wine list as it has some spanish selections somewhat off the beaten track, and the wait staff know enough about the menu and the wine list to make interesting recommendations.\r \r Add live music at a volume where you can still hear yourself talk at the table, and a couple of gargles of rioja poured directly down your throat from the wineskin (sure, why not?) when you'e finished your dinner and it's a fun evening with great service and good food.\r \r If only the tables were actually large enough for all the plates, glasses and bottles, it would be perfect; it's a bit of a squeeze to get everything on there, and you finally start trading - lose the water glass, keep the wine glass, lose the butter, keep the olive oil, that kind of thing.\r \r They could help the parking situation (and finding the place) by putting the valet actually on the street, rather than hiding him in the entrance to the rear parking lot. As this entrance is only one car wide, then it can be a little slow to drop your car off - even slower to pick it up.\r Pros: Food, see-into kitchen, decor Cons: Small tables, odd valet parking setup more

disappointed 12/26/2007

Over priced and pretentious. Only go here if you feel like speaking spanish all night. The staff and owners try too hard to make this valley restaurant much more than it is.\r Don't waste your time. Pros: could be worth while Cons: if you can get over the hype more

A Unique Restaurant in the Valley 12/20/2007

This is an older Spanish style San Fernando Valley home that has been converted into a high quality restaurant on the north side of Riverside Drive, between Lankershim and Cahuenga. The driveway to the back parking lot is easily missed because it is narrow. The restaurant entry off this driveway is through one of two outside dining patios. Interior decor is minimalist and efficient with muted colors. Burgundy table clothes and white cloth napkins cover well spaced tables. Unique crystal glassware with custom cutlery and square plates enhance all servings. The excellent food at D? Cache is a fusion of Spanish, South American and American cuisine artistically served in small, yet adequate portions. Everything we tasted was mouth watering good. It will bring tears of joy to even a jaded palate. For our dinner wine, we enjoyed a soft lush Malbeck from Argentina.\r \r From the valet to the bus staff, the service is appropriately attentive without interrupting private conversation. Our waitress was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and worthy of a 20%+ tip. Live background music was a solo Spanish guitar playing older romantic and popular hits that pleasantly complemented the overall ambiance of this fine upscale restaurant. We left satisfied with a promise to return.\r Pros: A perfect balance of unique flavors in a comfortable setting, adequate off street parking more
