D C Movers

We went with the flat rate deal where you get 3 movers for 3 hours at $299. While it sounded like a great deal, these movers were not in any hurry to get our 2 bedroom apartment moved. We made sure to have everything in boxes and by the front door to make our move quicker however, these movers were moving so slow that my boyfriend & I had to step in & start helping or we would have easily went over the 3 hours. We don?t have a lot of heavy furniture as most of it is the particle board/engineered wood that they will NOT cover if they break it. The slowest mover of the 3 (and i mean slow moving as if almost dragging his feet when he walked), improperly loaded my desk on the dolly and it snapped in half and feel down the 3 flight of stairs. After a month of chasing the company, they would not reimburse me for the improper movement of my desk ?b/c that type of furniture does not move well and tends to break.? Movers are supposed to make your move less stressful and I was so stressed out by the time that they left. Next, time I?ll pay the money for the more expensive/better movers! I have pictures to prove that DC movers damaged furniture! Owner is fine until he receives your money and then magically is unable to answer phone calls! instead, a very nice lady that handles damages assist you with the process. I feel sorry for this young lady b/c DC puts all the BS on her. I hope that she wised up and got the hell out that job! The company looks professional on the web and then the movers come..........hot mess!!! One sat on the middle of my floor and complained of being tired! it was three men a father, son, and friend team. Dad and son did best to maintain professional by telling the guy to get off the floor! My leather couch was not wrapped as promised and as a result is ruined! If DC the owner could have taken a little time to be professional the way he was when he took my money I probably would have been OK! Instead, he stated he didn't have time, busy, never available. Maybe an apology!!!!! Nothing but rudeness. Word to anyone, STAY WAY! You were warned...don't be fooled by the low cost you pay for what ya get. I promise there are much better moving companies available that take the time to cover your furniture right and charge a reasonable fee w/o the nasty attitude involved. I personally, like to patronize local business but DC movers is one that walks a fine line............I think they are a gamble which is not good for customers that need their items moved in a professional manner. Its sad to see a minority business that lives up to every stereotype when doing business based on the lack of honesty, dignity, and ethics a business should have. DC apparently sets the bar low and only cares about making his pockets fat. Word of mouth is powerful, b/c I have taken every measure to make sure that anyone I know to stay away and use a more reputable company! By the way, they are in charlotte also so beware! I recommend this company. They were fast, efficient and friendly. I saw they had good and bad reviews on this site and I just wanted to advise anyone reading these reviews to cross reference this with the Better Business Burea report. They actually investigate complaints and determine if they are valid all you have here is a place for people to vent, it has its uses but the Better Business Burea is a better source for legitimate company history. I checked their Better Business Burea status and it was in good standing. Do your homework and find out what you are getting. I did and I found a deal. more

Quickly, I found this moving company on the web. I liked the web page and the price. I have moved at least half a dozen times all around the country, that being said. I was amazed at how friendly and professional the gentlemen were who moved me. They arrived on time, in uniform and went straight to work. My only complaint would be that two of them smoked which I can always do without but it was minor. My move lasted 5 hours. What amazed me the most was how they prepared my belongings. They padded all my wood and wrapped my sofa and chairs in plastic. I have paid a lot more and gotten alot less in the past. I will use them again for move number 7 which is inevitable. I am a grad student and I really needed movers but could not afford most places I called. I saw a flier at my apartment complex and decided to give them a call. The people on the phone were very friendly and I heard the price and wondered whats the catch. She said no catch and I scheduled. Afterwards, but before my move, I came to this cite and read how bad an experience others had with this company. I called to ask about the complaints and I spoke to the owner, Develynne Camack. He informed me that they moved 545 customers in 2007 and that he assured me they had a 99% customer satisfaction rating and unfortunately those who like the work rarely take the time to write a rewiew. I told him I was going to trust him and write a review wether it was good or bad. The movers were scheduled for 9 AM. They arrived about 9:15 which once I read the contract I saw that they asked for a window between 8-10 to arrive. So they weren't late but if I didn't read the contract I would have thought they were. The move went great. I didn't have alot of stuff but it was more than I could move. They moved my apartment in less than 3 hours and I was completely pleased. They could not have done a better job. True my move was small but I promised I would write a review one way or the other. I recommend them highly. more
